I think the problem was not the space, but the matter of the pocket (Efren checked the space). These pockets are made of something rubber like matter and the slight backward spin generated on the target ball didn't allow to fall in the pocket. As soon as Kaplan used to hit it with follow the ball sunk.

Excellent analysis. I am pretty sure that was what the problem was. That sort of thing would not have been tolerated in a tournament like, say, the U.S. Open. Would'a caused some huge fits.

Probably the pocket was faulty, because he thought there was enough room for another ball. Those Metros can hold 10 balls at least, so you should be able to pot a complete rack of 9-ball in one pocket.

But the Tournament Edition is cut so aggressive that even the Pros struggle a lot some times

That's a good question, too. XD I think he really thought that all the pocket needed was for the top ball inside to be adjusted, hence picking it out and dropping it back in. I still dont think the ball nor the space was the problem, but the material OF the pocket as a previous poster mention. You HAVE to go with highest-quality Diamond tables for these tourneys, anyway... This was just an unacceptable table.
