@kutchaia thats not the point.

they're learning to dive a piece of equipment that is many times more complicated than simpler Open Circuit scuba. It carries with it all the benefits of CCR but also all the risks (which are considerably more than open circuit).

If one needs to dive CCR, they will be doing long/deep dives and nobody should attempt these dives without having very solid basic skills, which these divers (including the instructor) do not have.
