  • hey-like it very much, as people have said, the facial expressions are spot on, you really get a sense of atmosphere.

one criticism may be the moonchild's introduction? perhaps the drawing could be more whimsical/more detailed or you could slow down her movement from the one end of the window to the other.

question-how do you do this kind of animation? is it just moving one drawing in front of another? if so, you've done it really smoothly. be great to hear from you-

  • @astratton22 Hey, thanks for the nice comments :) Yeah I drew her less detailed so that when I added the glow effect it would wash her out, making her like a body of light, but it didn't quite work out that way :/ but yes, I just move one drawing in front of the other, all of them suspended on sticks, backgrounds pinned up to a wall. For that certain shot at the window, it was quite tricky, since I had to pin up two backgrounds with space between them and control the puppets haha, many thanks :)

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous work Nick!

  • Thats brilliant my friend! I loved it and now im just excited to see the whole thing, its so unique and theres bad to mention. Well done, cant wait to see it! :) x

  • Enchanting atmospheric stuff!

  • ACE! This is really excellent, Nick. I absolutely adore your paper animations, they are both eerie AND beautiful! It really works for the style that you create this world of characters. No problems whatsoever, magnificent job, can't wait to see more!

bytheway, have you seen Tim Burton's short film, "Vincent"? It's his first stop-motion feature and it reminds me of you a bit.

    Great job once again!

  • I liked it, maybe a bit slow, but it fit the music well, speaking of which, there's a Shakespear's Sister song called Moon Child, check it out, might be good inspiration. If you continue with this format, definately keep it in b&w.

  • I am really amazed how well you have done this..and the camera movement is so smooth.

You have actually brought life to these paper characters which is a challenge in its self, because you have created perfect poses, hand gestures and face expressions.

I really have nothing to say bad about it and I wish i did because i'm one of those artists where i try to find at least one negative crictisim in my work :P Love the soundtrack too, did you make it? Whole animation has an creepy fairytale image

  • @laura2daisy Thanks very much :) the soundtrack is composed by Stephen Willis, or "socksofbalhoon" on youtube, he does recreations of Doctor Who soundtracks, so he's more than worth a sub ;)

  • @nickgotto Suscribed :) Hes talented. So how it your coursework going other than moon child?

  • I think it's brilliant. I honestly can't think of any improvements, it's amazing as it is. It's not static and it's not dodgy, it's just really really good. x

  • WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Nick that is truly amazing!!! Beautiful! I cant think of any way to suggest improvements. It's so mystical and magical, i could see them showing this tokids in primary school =P

It's like a real film! You amaze me you really do! It's so incredible!
