What I like about this movie is that all scenes were shot with real horses and real riders, not computer tricks or animatronics. I think this was one of thel last movies of this kinnd that did not used computer tricks. Thanks for share it.
@HunterToJumper I love this movie, I was fortunate to watch it on a movie theater back on 1984 or 85 I do not remember the year. It was amazing to see it on a big screen for the first time. Thanks again for posting it. Watched here again and again!!!
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but think about the life jessica would have living in a hut like he did - no birth control.
It killed a lot of women and the lifestyle could be pretty soul destroying if you had to do a lot of it alone as many women did back then while their husbands were off trying to make a living. it's not exactly farming country.
you could choose it but you might regret it. (and it's not like you could go off and make your own living if things got too tough.)
This movie remains my favourite of all time! Saw it at the cinema when it first came out at age 13 - loved it then, love it now ... such a great cast, unbelievable amount of talent and each person so suited to their roles and the music was absolutely perfect! Sigh ... yep, I just love it! Thanks for posting :D
Oh, thank you SO MUCH for posting these! I love this movie. It's amazing. So many people use the phrase 'they belong together' for every single movie couple. But Jess and Jim truly DO belong together! Whatever happens, whatever logic Jim tries using, they will always belong together <3
to me the most memorable thing about the film is really the soundtrack. my dad had it and loved it (still does) used to play it a lot when I was little. Had a copy of it before I was 10 and played it over and over ;)
@ShawDAMAN Yeah, Bruce Rowland is a legend :) I love the french horn part in the mountain theme - it's so beautiful. I also have the piano sheet music, and Jessica's Theme: Breaking in the Colt is a brilliant piece to play.
beautiful indeed, thank you so much.

@elenore88 if you read stories about pioneering women and their lives - you wonder how many of them survived.
her father has a pretty good point.

He should let his Daughter date Jim. Jessica & Jim will have lots of fun, and give him a good grandchild or two. ;)

..."And down by Kosciusko, where the pine-clad ridges raise
Their torn and rugged battlements on high,
Where the air is clear as crystal, and the white stars fairly blaze
At midnight in the cold and frosty sky,
And where around the Overflow the reedbeds sweep and sway
To the breezes, and the rolling plains are wide,
The man from Snowy River is a household word to-day,
And the stockmen tell the story of his ride. "

Haven't you figured it out yet? Mrs. Hume and Aunt Rose are played by the same actress! It wasn't just Kirk Douglas who was doing two characters.
Anyways, she was the hottest POA in the picture. I'd do her in a heartbeat.
