I have a JR X9503 DSMX that I just got and I'm getting terrible range with my 2 receivers. OrangeRX 6ch and JR921 (DSM). The JR921 is from a year old X9503 that was just DSM2 but I thought all this was reverse compatible.
My problem is I lose connection at about 30 meters. With the bind button pushed in or not, I'm getting the same terrible range. I've tried flying and I can get about 50-100 meters and I lose control. Autopilot brings home. Is there a way to force 9503 Tx to DSM2 mode?
hi so what do you think is better if dsmx is faster and muiltiple frequences and dxm2 has brown out and 2 frequency bands
i understand each one but done know wht one to set my radio up with. i have a dx6i and it has the x on the front and only borght it a cupple of weeks ago so must have the dsmx teck alll ready on it right .
Ok...I've watched this vid. And read heaps along the way too.
What I don't get is how a DX6i can possibly be true DSMX. DX6i Tx's all the way up to DSX9's are *DSM2* trannies i.e. they broadcast on only 2 frequencies. DSDX is *frequency hopping* technology - like Futaba's FASST system.
Soooo... how can an older DSM2 Tx like the 6i, 7, and DSX9 possibly talk to the Rx in true DSMX frequency hopping mode when the Tx still only runs the older DSM2 twin-channel locking mode?
@Quokka57 As far as I know the older DX6is cannot do DSMX.. even with a new DSMX RX... I tried this with an old DSM2 DX6i on a DSMX RX and it works in DSM2 mode as expected. Only the newer ones can do DSMX but these have additional circuitry inside...
I like how you explained this vid, I'm using a dx4e with my mcpx and sim, but im shopping for a computer radio. Most of the txs u use are on my list of possibles so I'd like to ask you, if you were to only have 1 radio for your planes and helis, which one do you think you would keep?
@Blue79 A fair question and not an easy one to Answer.. My Futaba 8FG is definately my favourite.. It is pure quality and a joy to fly with.. It feels so light yet precise in my hands. Very advanced features, all you could ever want and totally customisable. a lot of unique features that make setting up a heli so easy.. EG in the swash setting it also gives you the subtrims for each servo on the same screen so you can do it all without having to constantly switch screens.. More
part 2.. it also has an option on the same screen where it will drive the servos to either the HIGH MID or LO position and hold them there so you can adjust the swash pitch setting to give you the correct pitch angles.. hope that all makes sense but it makes life very very easy when setting up a new heli.. the sticks are also super smooth. My 2nd favourite is the DX8.. it actually feels great also, but in a different way.. I replaced the stick ends on the DX8 with Futaba ones as.. more
Part 3. they feel much better than the stock DX8 ones which I found very slippery and my thumbs would slide off the top very easily.. I like the DX8 because it has very easy programming, and though not as advanced or complex as the Futaba 8FG it still gives you everything you could ever need in a plane or heli.. The one great advantage of the DX8 is that it can be used on all parkzone and Eflite BNF aircraft and helicopters. A very tough choice for me to decide between the two but...
Part 4.. if I only had the choice of 1 radio.. it would be the DX8.. with the futaba stick ends.. simply because I would need it for the BNF aircraft I have,, eg Blade MCPX, Parkzone Stryker.. etc.. Hope that helps.. did you see my comparison video between the 8FG and the DX8?
@Trainboy64 Thanks for the great description of your thoughts, it's made good sense and probalbly will help decide DX8 over Futaba for me. I think that BNF is quite important too but now I have some homework to do (watching your dx8 series :))..
I guess the JR 11X hasn't won you over like the futaba and the spektrum have eh? They market it as a air/heli/sailplane tx and I thought it could also Bind to BNF models but I could have misinterpreted that. Thanks again!
@Blue79 Hi, yes, i didn't factor in the JR11x.. it is definately a great radio and probably my 3rd favourite.. It is in a completely different price bracket.. you can get an 8FG and a DX8 for the cost of a JR11x.. Honestly, the 8FG and DX8 feel better than the 11X in my opinion, but it is all very close.. the 11X also has quad bearing gimbals that are super smooth and has a very heavy qualityf feel about it.. I haven't flow it enough yet.. I bought it for the looks alone.. more..
@Blue79 I have always been a Battlestar Galactica fan and I needed the 11X because it looks like a Cylon.. that is the ONLY reason i bought one.. sad huh?? LOL.. anyway, it is a great radio also and yes it does work with all the BNF aircraft.... but the DX8 feels much nicer in your hands (in my opinion) Just for the record.. i also changed the stick ends on the JR11x for Futaba style sticks as the stock sticks were not grippy enough..
I hear you and Simon mention the forum/s can you post a link , I have only been into rc for a short time and where to go and what to buy is enormous now
I am enjoying your videos, very helpful nothing extreme keep them coming

@jack10996 I would definately use DSMX... much more robust signal.
