To be accurate - it's an Irish air dating back almost 50 years before Bonnie Prince Charlie arrived. Search for 'Marbhna Luimni' It's still Jacobite tho
No, it's a simple GHB chanter, ancient style, with a soft reed ( the way they used to be, accounting for the extra notes which are hard to play with a hard reed ) Still, I LOVE the Boru chanter ( invented by Starck, is that right? ) Do you know more about them?
The bravest Scotsman has yet to be born, from the Bonnie Dundee to Rob Roy MacGregor, to Lord Lovat at Normandy to the Black Watch in the Sands of Kuwait. The Land of Bens, Glens, and Heroes, where the Ptarmigan thrives and the Red Deer finds shelter! So long as the blade of a sword strikes a spark in the night, the deeds of the Brave will be remembered! Health and Success Forever to the Lads of Cabar Feidh!!!
That's the first time I've heard a Highland piper 'shiver the back lil' (Pinch the note to reach high 'B') - I thought it was just we Border pipers who did that!
i'm just curious. the rankin family are canadians, hailing from mabou, cape breton. is there any family connection? they have stated they are from lochaber and probably fought w/ bonnie prince charlie.
Clan Cameron was a clan deeply faithful to the Jacobite cause and the Cameron tartan was already in use in the 17th century, though not yet under that name or as a clan tartan.
long live the jacobite spirit in us all that have it

Tir nam bean, nan gleann, 's nan gaisgaich.
I had the call to Scotland from when I was 7 years old.
I love your videos, integrating highland music with the beautiful scenery. Wonderful!
Is that a Boru chanter that you are playing (with an extra note?)

Not a clue..... if they were from Lochaber they were probably among the great majority of the inhabitants faithful to the Jacobite cause

Hi Ewolf98,
Clan Cameron was a clan deeply faithful to the Jacobite cause and the Cameron tartan was already in use in the 17th century, though not yet under that name or as a clan tartan.
All the best

Absolutely brilliant, young man, take a bow.

That's the most accurate rendition I have ever heard of Lochaber no More. It really sounds like being back in the '45. And a great costume too!
Well done!
