  • Jack Sparrow?

  • how did you open up the drum map after you selected gm map....?

  • Crap, first i thought gearmandude is Jack Black. Now I'm thinking you're Jack Sparrow!

  • @kokoXcrunch ARRRGHH ! He is my fellow pirate ! ...and I guess he also pirated the software ARRGH !

  • I don't know how to reach this workplace in Cubase 5 ; (

  • @Murindal same!

  • YAAAARRRRR!!!

  • at 2:09 i dont get that popup :( help? :(

  • @haskin1music same here with Cubase version 5... any solution yet?

  • Im new to Cubase, how do i copy a track that i've made?

  • @Corpzmaker91 Those are add ons to pro gram or "plug ins". Depending on your set or morals you can either buy them or download them illegally from sites such as The Pirate Bay using UTorrent

  • When I press F11 I only find:

    Drum - Groove Agent One

    Synth

    HaLionONE

How did you get so many different instruments?

  • Just looking at cubase again makes me SO GLAD I stopped using it, everything is so cryptic and a pain to use, its like skinning a goat. Presonus software is so much better, and actually uses windows and terms that are written in english.

  • hello mum!

  • Lol. mfw

    >>Regular British accent

    >>>OMG IT'S JACK SPARROW

    Americans.

  • @DC182MOD its not the accent, its the voice aswell.... and u can't call me stupid because im european, hah!

  • Why is Jack Sparrow teaching me how to use Cubase?

  • where's the rum?

  • Thank you very much!...... though I'm afraid I don't understand many things you say, it's because this kind of quality tutorials are simply not avaylable in my own language...., shame for me! anyway I will have to hire an interpreter lol!

  • hey m8 i get no sound from the MIDI track, it even shows the drums are playing, but i can't hear them any tips?

  • is outthere any other druming edit program exept cubase

  • My drum map just dosnt open? I click on GM Drum map and just nothing happens. Any ideas?

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  • THANK YOU!!!!!! now I know!

  • Thaks dude, you helped me a lot I was tired of searching it by my self..

  • Can you do wat he is doing here, on Cubase LE-4?

  • i have sonar le 8 i think

  • Where's the rum aye? :p

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to do this tutorial. I am new at all this and it really helped a lot. all the best to ya.

  • I'm still wondering after watching this tutorial that didn't teach me too much but what I understood by using common sense, really: are these the only two options of making (drum) tracks: recording live and clicking one and one instrument manually? Are there no form of say pattern-based automation/macro, so that I don't have to copy/paste like 20 times for every instrument? I think there should have been a "fill in" function or something...

  • @somedump Try out Beatcraft. It has more editing capabilities than ez and others, and in a nicer user friendly interface in my opinion. And using external libraries like beta monkey drums makes it an amazing drum machine to work with. Hope it helps.

  • @Tuscopa

So you seriously have to manually aim your cursor on every single instrument you want played making a track in Cubase? Isn't that just extremely userunfriendly?

    Thanks anyway.

  • @somedump Thea man. I feel the same way. As I see it there are 3 ways to use cubase to programme drum tracks: - manually asign each instrument; - use midi controlers to asign the instruments and them play with the asign functions to create paterns. - drag from the plugin´s library the file you want (patern; breakdown;fill, etc) and use it that way. Actually there is a fourth way; using an electronic commaded drum (midi drum) two use the sound libraries from this VSTs and record them into any DAW.

  • @Tuscopa

    Thank you! :-)

I'll try everything you said out.

  • @somedump Youre welcome. One advice (that is what I do-and I´m no expert :) ), try using the "pre made" rhythm/break/fill samples that come in EZ and other VSt´s as much as possible, and if you need to tweak some part of your drums on your song to your tastes, use beatcraft to create you own unique fill/break or whatever. It works good that way for me.

  • @somedump Sometimes the samples in beatcraft do not mach with the EZ one´s soundwise, so some tweaking is necessary to try and make them alike.

    Hope it helps.

    Take care

  • @somedump That is why I spoke about Beatcraft, because although you still have to asign functions to instruments, the GUI layout is way easier and faster to use, with the goal being quick editable patterns, at your choice. You may copy, paste, double tracks and whatever you remenber with it also.

We never know, maybe in a near future the software will evolve and it will become easier. Nothing like using the real instrument though (acoustic or midi commanded drums).

    Hope

    Hope it helps.

  • i just got cubase 5.1 and ez drummer and i defo need some tutorial videos. this was pretty useful but only becuase i watch it over and over and over and over to see visually what your doing. clicking a load of buttons and opening some windows and then saying " just like that " isnt really a tutorial.

  • Thank u very much -helped a lot man!

  • Would this work with Addictive Drums instead?

  • i have cubase 5.1 and i want to hear the drums and all of that ...i can hear just a piano:| help !

  • thank man :)

  • "I should make myself a cup of tea right now, because it's only halfway through the loading progress." LMFAO.

  • muito boa tua video aula..só queria pedir coloca ai o linck

dessa bateria pra mim baixa...eu vou agradesse muito...

  • interesting

  • @CystLicker HOLY CRAP ITS REALLY JACK SPARROW!!

  • very easy, but also very tedious.

  • I haven't EZDrummer but I have Cubase 4,is EZ a Cubase's VST instrument or it is a plug in program?I hope You understand My answer xD

  • @ratm4Lui VST is a plug-in most of the times... so it's actually both of what you are saying, and you didn't give an answer, but a question... learn english please...

  • @toar4ever what an idiot!! This "answer" could be wrong...but I think you can understand it.... -.-"

  • Would help if you actually talked better

  • Does anyone know if Battery 3 OR Ezdrummer or Superior Drummer have maps or are you going to have to use that GM map?

  • thanks

  • why is there no sound from ezdrummer...?

  • awesome lesson man .. but i've got a problem .. i can't do the graphique drumming.. the thing that u r doing in the video(i can but i hear no sound .. i've completely follwed u with no mistakes) but I can play directly the drums with the Drum set .. i can hear it .. i can't really find what the problem is .. would be very grateful .. if u can help .... PLZ ....

  • I have the EXACT same problem! I can't get any sound out of cubase, though I see the monitors producing a sound! PLEASE help!

  • thank you very much, I understood everything

  • Can some one please awnser fast..`?

If i have a nice sample, how do i use it/import it and use it?

  • I found your creating drum tracks video very helpfull thanks. I have a problem with cubase and ezdrummer, every time i make a new project, i can hear the drums and use them to make a beat but i cant seem to get the actual ezdrummer window to pop up. Any suggestions? cheers.

  • say i want to make a cover and i have a midi from guitar pro for the drums.... how do i go about recording that on cubase with ezdrummer? i would appreciate the help.

  • @HateCrewHound well, u need to import the midi file, and then if im right, u can select an output for that midi file, if u select EZDrummer as an output, you should get your EZdrummer sounds

  • does anyone know why i dont have VST instruments?

  • You need to buy them.

  • HELPFUL TIP:

If you are "drawing" the pattern (using your mouse to mark each hit) I strongly suggest to desactivate the grid and draw zoomed it. That way each hit won't sound exactly in the time so it will sound more humanized. Be sure to zoomed in, otherwise the range is too small.

    Hope this is understandable.

  • Thanks. This helped me a lot.

    Simon.

  • lets say i have two midi tracks and have highlighted track 1, when i select a part on midi 2 i would like the track 2 get selected automatically, like in older cubase versions, how can i setup this?

  • im really sorry but i really couldnt do this because i couldnt understand what your saying on some of the parts cuz ur talking too fast. its not your fault but please if u could speak slower.

  • anyone ever told you you REALLY sound like Jack Sparrow?

    anyone else have that feeling?

  • loool

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha awesomeness!!!

  • Ye XD

  • @suyangsong That is fantastically funny!! Thanks man, it actually is Jack! You made my day..

  • @suyangsong hahahah idd ... i saw ur comment after the vid .. and i also thought he sounded like sparrow XD

  • @suyangsong

lol I would say Jack Sparrow sounds like him. Johnny Depp is the one faking the accent ;)

  • @suyangsong CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow

  • 2:09 where you press clik?

    i cant find this bar

  • i cant find it either is this only for cubase SX? can't find it on cubase 4

  • it's a plugin by toontrack, you have to buy it.

  • Double click on the midi bar, the one created at 1:16

  • look at 1:18 he says u can double click there after u set that lengh thing

  • thanks but how can i assign eq or reverb on just the snare?

  • Did you notice the green-like midi tracks around 1:41?

Add an effects track with a reverb to your liking and send the midi snare to that track. You can decide how much of the snare you want to send to that reverb-effects track.

If you need any more help, just send me a message.

  • will this work with ez player pro?

  • when i open the drum map, it shows up as a keyboard, the sounds are there, but i want the same as you, how do i fix that?

  • look on the left pane int he main project window...there is a box that raeds "NO DRUM MAP" click it,change it it "gm drum map" off ya go....

  • i no i have it.. but its fine now i figured it out a quite a while ago lol thanks anyway

  • How do you get the drum map up dude? Im new at cubase : )

  • You need EZDrummer.

  • no u dont

  • yes u do

  • why have i been using it with rm4 lm4/7 and steinberg hypersonic??? i dont just make these things up....dumbass...

  • why do i only have LM-7 ????

  • because you have that download VST ezdrummer or buy xD

  • safe

  • A really great tutorial on fills & rolls would be cool. Great vid by the way.

  • Glad you enjoyed it :)

Fills and rolls can make for tricky subject matter to be honest. IMHO the best way to approach them is to use a key board and loop a section of the track, say 4 bars, with the last bar being were you want to do your fill. Then set midi record and play a little bit at a time until you get something useable. Once you have the basic idea you can tweak it in. Fills and rolls are more about artistic ideas than programming and therefore are far easier to play via keyboard.

  • can anyone direct me to a vid showing how to connect an m-audio (O2 25 key to be exact) controller in cubase? I have a set of tutorials which even shows how to add devices but i cannot figure for the life of me how to add this.

I know it cant be THAT difficult. At least it's only 1 or 2 steps in reason, I just want to do it in cubase for a try. :) thx

  • This should be fairly simple - on the track/lane view create or select an existing Midi track. If the left hand pane is not visible - use the inspector button to show the midi track info. then simply select the device on the "in:" drop down box.

If you can't see it there - re install the O2 drivers. and start again. Remember any midi controller has to be plugged in and ready BEFORE launching cubase.

  • I really like this posting.. always good to be informed AND entertained at the same time.

    Great!

  • thank you very much for posting this! It has been very helpful!

  • Ah! Thank you so much for this tutorial!

  • Very helpfull, I geuss all us brits sound like Jack Sparrow!!!

  • yes.....yes we do, lol

  • looooooooooooooool

  • finally someone actually shows HOW to make the drum sounds with a keyboard and with a map!!

  • Jack Sparrow?...In that he has an English accent? I think someone really needs to get a passport

  • Thanks ^^

  • Dude you totaly sound like Captin Jack Sparrow!!! I was crackin up through-out the whole vid!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!

  • yeah me too XD !!!!!!

  • Your titles ARE really hightech. hehe.

Whith what did you capture the screen+narration? Something like Camtasia Studio perhaps, but which one?

I had troubles with the Camtasia demo, it didn't see my PCI soundcard.

Thanks in advance for the answer.

  • man i hate how long EZdrummer take to load. but its worth it.

  • Cool tutorial after loading up ez drummer and though how do u switch onto the drum pattern patter lanes to lay down the beats

  • do you have to buy EZDrummer or is it an included plugin in Cubase SX3?

  • he's using a program called: "READ THE FUCKING DESCRIPTION!"

    did that help?

  • hahaha

  • lmao

  • This EZDrummer is good if you are making acoustic fills or arrangements, but if you want something more flexible for dance music, i recommend using Izotope IDRUM (now for Windows also )and if you have a sort of powerfull machine or want to have more control on the drums (fx and tricks) use Battery 3. If you want to work as hard as a producer, xperiment with these two and render your combinations so you can use them later as rex loops. Google about it, it is all about music, put your life into it

  • omg pleez help !!! i have cubase se .. idk if its the same as sxe. .. but how do i make beats.. i recorded me mixing with my turn tables. and o want 2 record different drums over it.. can i do it with se?? pleez helpp me <33 // whare do i go 2 get the instruments?whare in the toll menu? cause ill ive done so far is recorded my self. i dident even know it had elertonic instruments till my dad told me. i founs sumthi vst instruments but cant play em idk, reply 2 this if u know <33333

give a 5 yr old a fucking ferrari why dont you...

  • Thanks for this.

  • You should get a job as golf announcer.. good stuff though, thank you.

  • lol...he does have that voice doesnt he?!!!

  • LOl thank god he started talking after the window intro,, good vid thanks

  • can I do it without midi keyboard?

  • Yes, you can, its very easy

  • it was 3 weeks ago, now I know =D

    thanks

  • Finally I was able to figure out how to make drum tracks in Cubase. It's very easy...but if you don't know the "steps" it's impossible.

  • thanks U 4 this tutorial!!

    amazing

  • He needs 2 get the gum out of his mouth so u can understand him lol lol

  • thank you thank you , I've watched 100 of tutorials and didn't get the idea of how to record MIDI , but this one is perfect !

    great thank

  • thank you so much for this tutorial.. nice, friendly and tells a beginner like myself exactly how to get started. well done :)

  • hello, I just have to ask you, but how can u add new synts, drum maps etc to cubase? I cant find it anywhere! and Ive got no clue. (would like to have a detailed explanation or a link to where I can find it) Thanks :)

  • thankx dude but i want to know if you have a tutorial for magix 2008 with ezdrummer???

  • where can i download more VST's?

  • Thank you so much..i was having trouble with the programming of the drum patterns (without using grooves) until now! And when my MIDI controller arrives today it will be a breeze! Thanks!

  • Thank you so much I've always been stuck trying to assign vst instruments to midi tracks you explain everything perfectly (and quickly!)

  • great tutorial, if have a question,

if you want to add reverb to say just a snare, and not the kick or hi hat. how do you asign this in cubase sx 3?

since the entire drum kit is all together, would you have to seperate each into a new track??

if possible, could you a tutorial on adding effects to drums.

  • Nice vid! would you please tell me the commands you entered after selecting Drum Map that makes appears all the drum parts?

  • Dumb question, can you use halion vst on Cubase studio 4 to compose drums or you need a seperate drum vst like ezdrummer. thanks!

  • I haven't used Halion but as it is a sampler you should be able to use it in the same way provided you have drum samples.

Set it up in the same way ie.

Select output as Halion and apply the GM drum map to the track. The drum map might require a little tweaking/renaming but the basic drum sounds ie, bass, snare, hats, cymbals etc. will be there.

    Good luck.

  • jodanse pinche video puto de mierda no me sale chingadamadre

  • My cubase doesn't seem to find Ezdrummer :S when I'm about to choose drums when I've pressed F11, I can choose LM-7, but not Ezdrummer. Anyone know what can be wrong?

  • Just to clarify - Ezdrummer is not part of the Cubase package. You will need to purchase this separately. Once Ezdrummer is installed cubase will list it in the F11 vsti dialog box.

If you have installed Ezdrummer and it is not showing up then it is possible that you have installed the vsti information to the wrong directory. This is normally something like C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins and the install process should ask you this.

  • Alright. Yes, I have both Cubase and ezdrummer. Hmm.. that might be the problem, that i've installed it in the wrong directory. Thank you for your help.

  • ¡¡Very helpful!! thank you so much.

  • very helpful again thanks a lot mate

  • thank you for uploading this. also a plus coz you're english like me :) really great video

  • Thank you so much, this has lead me on the right path to getting some much needed drums into my project! Cheers!

  • Hey Dude, Great vid...

Nice of you to take some time to help others.

  • LOL... the opening titles are just hilarious... great.

    Thanks for the Video man.

I'm a Sonar/EZ Drummer user from Brasil, very helpful to me.

    Regards.

  • Heheh. Thanks for the feedback. I did the titles for a laugh. These things are normally so boring I just wanted I just wanted to lighten the mood at the beginning.

  • goport, can you tell me how you repeated the same beat you created at around 5:14 in the video. I record with a click but it doesn't make more of the same beat if you know what I mean. Thanks.

  • I just played the bass an snare drum on a music keyboard. provided you set the snap to grid to 16ths it should work. Let me know how you get on.

  • Oh thanks. After watching it over a couple times I could hear you pressing the keys on the keyboard to do that. Is there anyway, without using the music keyboard, to copy a short beat (not the grooves) and keep pasting it without having to continually press the drum notes on the grid?

  • Simplest way is to:

    1. put the cursor in object selection mode by pressing "1" and highlighting the area you wish to copy and then copy (ie Ctrl + C)

    2. Position the play marker - you can click on the play line in the track/ruler bar at the top and drag it to the correct position where you wish to paste or simply left click on the destination in the track ruller bar thing at the correct location.

    3. Paste (ie Ctrl + V). Pasting will always paste where the play line marker is located.

  • Nevermind, I got it to copy and paste.

  • D'oh!!! didn't see this on page two of the comments! :)

  • Haha, that's alright. This is really just a matter of patience and trial and error I guess, I've learned alot from your videos, thanks again :)

  • very helpful, thank you very much
