  • NO OSCAR YET ??? I'll build one for Leo, this is unbelievable that one of the best actors on Earth didn't get the big price! Unbelievable! duuuh makes me angry!><

  • Sorry, DiCaprio sounds like he's 15-years-old - Pipsqueak. Really don't get this guy's appeal.

  • @happyzipi is the Moonlight Serenade from the swing pieces genre, if so then from that. In general from any genre.

  • This is the best movie I have seen in a looooong time :)

  • whats the track in the background

  • @2221alex Moonlight Serenade

  • i go crazy during this scene

  • Goosebumps!! (In a good way!)

  • He never was crazy.

    Just brilliant.

  • @No1soriginal Because the clip is showing the symptoms of a very ill individual. Mental illness is rampant and strikes a chord with many people. That is why you see such debate... It's a very complex issue there is no easy answer for. The same way we have all experienced physical illness we've all experienced mental illness. You'll know it when you feel it if you're aware of it. Those times when you just "can't deal"? Those are valid sick days. Don't listen to me, GOOGLE it.

  • This breaks my heart. Mental illness can be very complex. Often times people are written off with one diagnoses. When there is what they call "co-morbid" conditions (google it). One can be blessed with tourettes AND OCD (example). However, it's doubtful he would have made his many great accomplishments without it. But the suffering can be unbearable at times. I know because I have several disorders myself. Minor tourettes, chronic anxiety, OCD... I wouldn't wish mental illness on my worst enemy.

  • the word future becomes so annoying by the end of this scene. Fucher

  • @No1soriginal "His genius went haywire." ... You've described the sickness of Mr. Hughes exactly. It's a tragedy a man so brilliant and so successful, so courageous and ambitious, could also be such a sad and tormented creature. One of the most fascinating men to ever live.

  • I believe Hughes had Tourette's Syndrome as well.

  • @evilemperordude I agree. It's called "co-morbid" conditions. More than one disorder. The symptoms surface in stressful situations, even if it's stress created by the mind/thoughts. Severe mental illness never goes away. It can be absolutely devastating to the individual and those who care for the individual. People act as if many of the greats went crazy from being "too brilliant". I believe it to be the exact opposite. But I hate to simplify something so complex. Words are a limiting bitch...

  • Howard: The way of the future The way of the future

Me: The best line the best line the best line

  • Don't worry about my legs worry about my mind

  • was howard hughes actually this crazy?

  • @DieTheDeath Yes. But I would choose to use the word "ill" over crazy. Everyone is crazy. The whole damn world is crazy. But not everyone is ill... It's a bitch I know all too well. And it only seems to worsen with time... To put it into terms anyone could understand: mental illness is just as relevant as physical illness. Unfortunately only the symptoms are visible. Making it difficult for people to empathize. The majority of homeless population suffers from mental illness. It's quite serious.

  • knowing martin's films this ending probably has a whole story to tell by itself.

so what is it ? did the OCD get so serious he went ape shit ?

what was the mindfuck ? did he imagine the 3 dudes in blue suit ?

  • @shadowkid1993 mental illness is a slow decline that only worsens with time. I would say it's just showing that there was no happy ending for hughes. Or anyone with genuine severe mental illness for that matter...

  • so are those men that are following him in gloves, are they meant to represent his mental illness and his ocd catching up with him again? or is this just me being a prat lol

  • @juliansa74 your an idiot. its a mental illness but it looks like you have one yourself...your mentally challenged, you cant comprehend what im saying because your probably like 10 years old. stop judging, are you a lawyer? no. when you get your law degree..which you will never, then you can judge people.

  • Who was following him the end of the film

  • @juliansa74 I have OCD, and making a statement like that is just stupid. Howard Hughes has OCD and he was one of the richest people to ever live, so does that mean he sucks? No, you will probably, I mean definitely not be successful like him. Loser.

  • @OfficialBesnik Man, STOP BULLSHITTING YOURSELF AND STOP ANNOYING YOUR OWN MIND WITH THE STUPID ACTIONS OF OCD!!....Nothing is going to happen to you if you stop them all!!!!.....GROW UP AND GET A GRIP!!!

  • @juliansa74 *One does not simply STOP having OCD.

  • this track flows in the scene what is this track? i wonder very very much

  • @tkfka13213 Moonlight Serenade - Glen Miller, one of my favorite pieces ever.

  • @happyzipi thank you very much much~ much i don't expect somebody replys me how fast!

  • @happyzipi do you know any other pieces as beautiful as Moonlight Serenade??

  • @jitexx666 swing pieces or from any other genre?

  • I like the part where he said "The way of the future."

  • God he is a BRILLIANT actor!

  • People with OCD SUCK!!!

  • Okay, Howard, we get it. You can stop saying that phrase now.

  • where is his award where is his award where is his award

  • THING OF THE PAST

  • Comment removed

  • the way a the future

  • ...Air Force, Army, Navy or what ever... are decades overdue to pay him the tribute he deserves. At least a frigate with his name on it, or an air base, something.

  • @pixelsilva I'm sure we can name a few planets and stars after him!

  • If there still lingers any doubt as to the acting talents of DiCaprio, let this be a testament to the falsities of such doubts.

  • The best part was when he said "The way of the future."

  • the weigh of the few cheer

  • This scene sorta creeped me out.

  • @TheLawliet08 I have really bad OCD which causes me to have anxiety attacks from time to time. If I repeat a selected sentence it will therapeutically calm me down. Understand this was and still is a serious mental illness. No one can save you from your own mind except you. This scene is genius.

  • :(

  • @johnlennon1970 If that is how you see things, your view is very limited. But the stupidity that your brain creates must be unlimited.

Your comment was so stupid that I almost thought it was intentional to get people to reply to you, but since your comment was suddenly removed, I can delete that possibility.

  • What is so special about Howard Hughes...he's just a spoilt brat that inherited his dads millions!!....thats how i see it

  • @johnlennon1970

Did you watch the movie? Howard Hughes' Dad left him a company that made drill bits for the oil industry.

Does this movie have anything to do with drill bits? No. Howard Hughes pioneered the airline industry and made many times more than his father ever did. Have you flown on a plane? Maybe you think there is nothing special about flight.

  • @johnlennon1970 Howard Hughes accomplished more than John Lennon, boy.

  • @johnlennon1970 Well you sir, are ONE HELL of an ignorant bastard.

  • @cepomwa He had OCD, which made him extremely germophobic. Seeing the men in the suits (at the beginning of the scene) reminded him of germs because they were in anti-germ clothing. Then his OCD made him repeat "The way of the future" over and over.

  • Thanks Leo for being so talented. Respect and love you very much!

  • The way of the future.

  • This breathtakingly, skin prickingly, jaw droopingly brilliant.

  • @srilldawq And yeah, did you know it's also the way of the future?

  • Who can explain this scene to me?

  • @cepomwa

    He had OCD

He *was* the way of the future

His OCD led to tragic pitfalls, where otherwise it could have made him a flawless billionare.

  • @cepomwa Watch the movie and it will make sense. He was mentally ill, its a major part of the plot.

  • That's depressing.

  • A monologue for three.

  • Leonardo dicaprio ! Leonardo dicaprio ! hrumm Leonardo dicaprio ! Leonardo dicaprio ! Leonardo dicaprio !

  • How did Leonardo Not win best actor?

  • @TheCasanova121 Jamie Foxx gave a more dramatic, over-the-top performance, portraying an over-the-top character. The Academy likes to give awards for really dramatic acting that reminds you that the person is acting. It's also not just about who was the best, it's also about promoting the industry.

To me, the Aviator is an example of how putting together a lot of great pieces doesn't always result in a great movie.

  • @TheCasanova121 Damn good question.

  • THE WAY OF THE FUTURE

  • The bast part is when he says it's the way of the future.

  • I couldnt stop coughing

  • One of the greatest endings, I crapped my pants when I first saw this.

  • There can be no shadow of doubt as to the exceptionally profound talent that lives deep within Leonardo DiCaprio - he is a Master of his craft!

  • ...someone gonna loop this for a couple hours or not?

  • creo q soy asi >.<, bueno, es que no se,

  • 1:38 is my favorite variation

  • why the fuck didnt leo win the oscar for this portrayal? he is fantastic!

  • This was a good ending, recognizing how Howard Hughes eventually totally succumbed to mental illness but his accomplishments had already changed the world.

  • As much as I hated this movie, the acting was amazing.

  • He kinda looks like Brad Pitt here.

  • @UFOFrenzy Even though Hughs did sustain incredible injuries which probably resulted in many problems, his OCD was formed way before that ...

  • he should have won an Oscar for this but I think Jamie fox did instead for Ray

  • So amazed that he grew out of that hollywood teen sensation pretty boy scene, he's really talented.

  • The sad thing is, that despite all of his accomplishments, his personality, he died a shell of his former self, moving from hotel room to hotel room never trusting anybody, in the end dying enroute from one hotel to another, a skeleton with a thin sheet of skin on it.

  • I never knew Hughes had such an extreme case of OCD until watching this film. I bet that guy in the restroom scene whom he refused to give a napkin to must have been saying to himself, "Asshole."

  • Extraordinary performance....

  • Leo carries Hollywood on his shoulders

  • im confused....what does this scene mean?....i dont like being confused...

  • @morph995 I am also a checker and I can't leave my house without checking things. I will turn the door knob several times to make sure it is locked. There are many things that I do because of my OCD. I would rather not discuss it here because of ignorant people who make fun of others with problems. Can we send private messages on here? It would be nice to talk to someone who can relate to me.

  • @morph995 Yes I have OCD & I also repeat things over & over. Usually something I hear on TV that catches my ear. I will repeat it several times. Though I don't do it quite as much as I have done because now I have a DVR & I can go back & listen to it repeatedly. It drives me crazy. I was also surprised to see the scenes where Howard repeats things. At that time I thought I was the only one that did it. For anyone who doesn't have OCD it isn't funny, so don't laugh.

  • @Stacie0530 Well said. It's not funny at all.

  • Wait, what was his line again? It's the way of the past??

  • It's amazing how close he is to looking like the real howard hughes in this scene. Plus, his acting is very good. It's the way of the future

  • @UFOFrenzy I think a more accurate statement would be that Hughes is the longest lived individual to have sustained the catastrophic injuries he received in his plane crash (30 years).

  • Well, Hughes is the exception. As far as I know, there are very few people in the past (who have problems like Hughes) who has become that successful.

  • Comment removed

  • I think the last time Howard said ''the way of the future'' he accepted his condition. He controlled it for a while but eventually it took over. Its so sad that nobody could help him.

  • Mr. House

  • @morph995 if my hands ever get dirty i usually leave the bathroom door slightly open so i can wash my hands in hot water then dry them off with a towel. you should try it. :) maybe with something other than a towel though because it might have some dirty specks on it.

  • love how he says the way of the future at 0 : 42 he is just amazing

  • I really don't know if crazy parents cause OCD. I have seen a lot of people who had OCD who have great parents. The teasing and bullying causes the OCD, which then leads to more teasing and bullying? WowI hope that's not true. I doubt that anything that causes anxiety causes OCD. I had stage freight for years and I don't have OCD. The only thing I know about OCD is that it's about obsessive thoughts, not perfection or certainty.

  • @augment96 medical doctors have theorized for some time now that OCD (like some other illnesses) is hereditary. It seems to run in families. The OCD sufferer usually has an overwealming feeling that some indefinable terrible thing will happen if they don't keep doing the words or action over and over. It often is linked into Panic attacks. The brain develops a false truth that saying (or doing) these things will some how ward off some terrible indefinable event.....almost like a superstition

  • "The brain develops a false truth"? Sounds like schizophrenia. Some believe that it's a combination of genetics and environmental influences. I feel bad for people with OCD. To deal with all that stress all the time? Sounds exhausting.

  • @augment96 the brain is one hell of a complicated thing....and just like any machine that is complicated a lot can go wrong. Example.....a lot of mentally ill people in the world. I was a retail store manager for "years" and even in a very wealthy suburb of Boston I was dealing with mentally ill people all the time

  • There have always been mentally ill people in the world. However, it seems that there are way more mentally ill people now then they were 50 years ago or even twenty years ago.

  • @augment96 Naw we just know how to reconize the signs of illness better than they did in eras past!

  • Oh. I kind of feel sorry for the mentally sick people in the past. A lot of them could have had better lives and jobs if they had pills and medicine to take care of their illnesses.

  • That's one hell of a man. 70 years later and we're still making movies about him. Donald Trump, Richard Branson, Steve Jobs...have nothing on Howard Hughes. Hell, they even made him into a comic book hero (Tony Stark, Ironman). They just don't make them like they used to.

  • why does he keep repeating things... i dont remember why

  • @kenneth1234567889

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Tourette Syndrome ... they did not have medicine for either of these conditions during Hughes' time. Therefore, it got worse and worse and eventually he died from being overly obsessed about germs to the point he stopped eating and starved to death.

  • what are you guys talking about i didn't hear any "way of the future"

  • Note how they want a jet engine. They want dirty noisy inefficient tech. Yet they know things like vimana's exist.

  • @AgentDeadPinata dafuq

  • @velocity896 - what did i write here, i forget & there's too many pages to scroll thru

  • IS ANYONE ELSE PLAYING IN SLOW MOTION?!?!?!?!

  • the way of the future

  • How's the name that is played right after this scene? (credits)

  • One of my favorite scenes. thx man

  • Leonardo is honestly the best actor ever! :) xxx

  • And i didn't think he had OCD. I've got OCD. But it's more about cleanliness than repeating myself. And i do repeat myself SOMETIMES.

  • THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE lolol

  • I said HOP.IN.

  • Someone make a tech REMIX out of this. haha

  • Those FBI agents, Huges realizes there n then that the future lies in black ops, with the US gov.

  • @RideMyBMW Someone's played a little too much Call of Duty...Just kidding, lol.

  • @xXJEashXx har,har

  • @xXJEashXx

i did not understand the last part...i mean this exact scene..!

Why could't he just stop sayin "the way of the future"..!! i mean he could just close his eyes..rest his mouth..!

  • @xXJEashXx Har,har...

  • @RideMyBMW - yeah or watch the end of Burn After Reading..

  • @AgentDeadPinata haven´t seen it...what´s it about?

  • @RideMyBMW - the end be related to what you posted here originally.

  • I think OCD is what Nikolai Tesla had, or something akin to it.

I was impressed in this scene how his friend's knew exactly what was happening and prevented a massive embarressment for him in that gathering...

  • the movie would be nothing if leonardo isnt the protagonist

    he's a gifted actor

  • I liked the part when he said "The way of the future."

  • @09282044727 lmao:)

  • @09282044727 especily that one time when he says it real good

  • @09282044727 The most ignorant comment yet.

  • @09282044727 LOL

  • The goals he stated as a boy in scence, "make the biggest movies, fly the fastest airplanes, and be the richest man in the world." He accomplished all 3! Amazing!

  • @Keatelite

I thought Howard Hughes was never as rich as John D.Rockefeller, neither did he ever held the record of fastest flying airplanes. Seaplanes at the time flew faster than his land based H1 racer.

  • pretty sad ending.

  • WHY HASN'T HE GOTTEN AN OSCAR YET

  • @winniethewho91 for the same reason that Stanley kubrick and Quentin Tarantino (for example) haven't obtained it too, and that's because the Oscars are a shame.

  • an Oscar performane !!

this guy is sooooooooooooo underated , he is freacking amazing actor .

  • The oscar leo should of won.

  • We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper, We need to go deeper.

  • Brilliant movie

  • what is the name of the credit's song???

  • use to have OCD wen i was 9 but thank god it lasted for only bout 2 years because i manage to tell myself to STOP!. keep washing my hands like every freaking moment of my waking life especially at home and after awhile i keep repeating words or certain things that i say. I remember my sister's friends came over n i overheard her say to my sister. "Y does yr sister keep washing her hands?" i think she thinks im psychotic. i think 4 me the repeating words was the most embarassing

  • i think he has aspergers

  • i'm 17 with OCD and it's a compulsion. I know what i'm doing and I tell myself I will stop the next time but I do it again. It's like I HAVE to do it or my mind will tell me something bad will happen. It's worse in private but in public it's small. I get obsessive about EVERYTHING. Even sitting down correctly or not stepping in the middle of cracks. It gets hard living with it and sometimes embarrassing.

  • as a little kid, i used to do that with not stepping on cracks. started out as an innocent game but then i did it constantly. once i managed to distract myself with other stuff, i stopped doin it.

  • As bad as this sounds, I was dying during this part of the movie :-D

  • Leonardo Dicaprio actually has OCD.

  • @auro1001 are you serious!!!?

  • is the ending deeper than it seems cause im trying to figure that out. it just seems theres more to it then his ocd problem

  • A Mr Demeny...

  • This scene is beautiful. Leonardo Dicaprio nailed thsi role flawlessly in this movies. My interpretation of this scene is that he realised that he had already achieved his goals that told his mother as a kid. Now he knows that the world is his and there was no need to keep worrying about things and focus on the future -without fear of failure. success would not kill him -because he had worried about it all his life.

  • does anyone know the song that's playing in the backround before he has an attack?

  • @jvillan85 Moonlight Serenade :) Pretty Big Band song

  • The way of the future.

It would be awesome if we all posted this ONLY and nothing else everywhere.

It's like whole youtube has OCD

  • Do people with OCD really repeat themselves over and over again? I thought it just was germophobia and obsessive cleaning.
