I think there can be a gap between who a person really is and how he or she is perceived by the public. That person can then lose sight of his or her real self. Also, there's the pressure to always have another hit and continue the success. And success can be addictive. But the hits can stop coming. Look at Michael Jackson. I think Whitney Houston came through the fire and learned from it.

I agree with the first part of your statement. I often tell my students about the power of images. Images can transcend us and take on a life of their own, but the key is to be true to yourself, not to the image which is often shaped by other peoples imaginations, media, etc. Celebrities should learn this lesson early. Some fires can be avoided.
