Robert Conrad was HOT! I always wondered if there were gay men involved in the writing of these shows. His pants were always several sizes to small and his shirt came off at every opportunity.
@grubbsandiego1 I agree with you .... Think he was very clear with all gay people behind the cameras, directors and writers... and also was concience of his body... specially his bubble butt .. he was rally great. its a pitty no nude pics of him.
@grubbsandiego1 According to Mr. Conrad himself, the producers demanded that he wear those super tight pants which he split a couple of hundred times in the course of the series' life, and that he take off his shirt in every episode.
RC definitely liked his body showing it off all the time like that. Boxer & tough guy, the leather chaps & shirtless gives it a gay look even though he is not. He was a boyhood hero of mine back in the 60's.In Battle of the network stars Gabe Kaplan beat him in a 100 yard dash. During that competition he came off looking like an ass& poor sport. Kristy McNichol beat him in a rowing event. In '03 he was involved in a DUI crash in calif. which left him partially paralized on one side.
@nenzi671 I never observed nor perceived the Wild Wild West as a "homoerotic program." Nor did I witness the shows from a "homosexual perspective."
My inference is that you have inducted or inbibed "subliminal approaches to a show with a simple premise: evil men vs. good guys and the winner is Jim West and Artemus Gordon.
Mr. Conrad did suffer some crippling injuries, but he has somewhat recovered.
@lburdeos464 I agree with you completely. Why do people like to interprete what's not meant to be? But they have the right to do so, I suppose. In the 60s, the idea of gay was not even accepted, I think. The producer's demand of Mr. Conrad showing off his magnificent physique was to attract young female audience.
@Alathaea It was long before I was born. I had no first hand idea. But according to what I learned, gays were not accepted by the society at large during the 60s. I can see why Mr. Conrad is attractive to both female and male.
Growing up I would look at this man and I knew what I lusted for - this dude was hot stuff in his day, he was my mentor and made me the muscleman that I am today. Thank You Mr. West
@lorrainewands It was the producer's demand and in his contract that he must take his shirt off in every episode. As an actor he did not have the right to do it on his own.
@jdeppluver1599 James West always had the switch blade knife in his boot he could actviate just like the knife located in the back of his collar in his short coat.
And the girl is Lana Wood--Natalie's sister.

@DDDrew8 Ahahaha you're very naive if you think that TV programs didn't have coded gay references in the sixties.

if this was film during recent television, West would have fewer clothes. Yet, I would prefer seeing him in just leather - more exposed!
