Do you think I run well the Need for Speed? How many FPS? I recommend for optimal performance you activate the box triple buffering job is based in Catalist-Games-3D application settings (High Performance Graphics)
The game supports the xbox 360 controller, as soon as you plug it in it changes the messages to the xbox buttons (A,B,X,Y, etc..) but once you plug it out it switches to pc (space, asdw, etc..)
the 6670 is the highest you can cross fire with the APU, if you go higher the GPU component of the apu will switch off and only the cpu will be working
When ever you install a discrete graphics card the on board chip turns off, but you can change the setting in the motherboard to prefer the pci lanes.
Yes, when I recorded this vid the APU was at stock clocks, this apu is a great solution for low budget computer build, but personally I don't recommend it, you're better off buying an Athlon xII or a core i3 because the fm1 doesn't have that many upgrade options so you'll be stuck on a dead end road, when it comes to gaming.
@javisonic thanks for the concern. still interested though. trying to go for a cheap build with as little upgrades as possible, with the only upgrades more focused on the graphics card. i'm not looking for top performance, as long as it's acceptable and playable.
at worst, i'm more than willing to OC mildly (200-300Mhz is mild.....right?) if i have to, or grab an A8-3870K when it gets cheaper. expecting this rig to last 2.5 - 3 years max.
@javisonic btw, was wondering, how do you turn off the onboard Graphics? through the BIOS, Catalyst Control Centre, Windows Graphics Options, or Device Manager?
so wait, was this at stock CPU clock? and does OCing DRAM bring any benefits when using a discrete GPU, or were all the reviews referring to the performance boosts on the integrated GPU when OCing DRAM?
thinking of grabbing an A8-3850, and upgrading it with a 560Ti or an HD6950 at a later date, hopefully working at stock clock without experiencing the ever so dreaded "bottleneck". planning to OC the CPU modestly though if worse comes to worst.
@Javosonic ---> What do you think of a rig like that, but with a Radeon HD6790? It seems the HD6790 is pretty much where it's at for budget performance?
@thedingdoeatyourbaby i wouldnt say it extremely CPU bound because i play this on my 2.3 GHz processor and an GTS450 video card and 3gb of ddr2 ram and i do have it on med i think and it runs pretty darn smooth for a crappy processor i have so IMO i think it is a decent game to test on if he has it as high as possible but w/e =)))) as well as im waiting to get my money back from TD cuz they were on back order so yea... im a sad panda right now
Thanks. For my undervolt settings, I'm getting no where near 7 hours in power-saver mode with 15-20% brightness.. Could anyone share their settings with me?
Well i had purchased the card a while back and i had it with a Q8300 and ddr2 so i wanted to do a cheap upgrade and for a good $270 i picked up the A8, A75M and 4gb of Corsair Vengeance. So it was a pretty good set up for the wife considering i got $200 back from selling my old mobo, cpu and Ram.
since both components are power efficiency oriented (the apu is 35 - 45w instead of 100w) you will get slower performance, but the 6750 had a good amount of power behind it so you should be able to play almost all recent games at decent settings, i say you should get similar performance at 720p with no aa or vsinc running and you'll definitely hit the 60fps mark.
I did i little search on youtube and i saw a couple of vids that do test the Hybrid Xfire, dirt 3 at 1080i, 4xAA, High settings, no V-sinc, yielded 62fps. I ran the same bench except much higher settings, 1080i, 8xAA, Ultra Settings, V-sinc on, and yielded 60fps. if you have the money you're better off with the 6870.
you would be better off just with the 6870 w/o hybrid crossfire, since the crossfire scalability isn't super amazing, you do have two gpu's but with the 6870 you have a much bigger bandwidth of power. It's not much bigger, i would say 20-30% better performance depending your set-up. if your on a budget the the apu with 6670 is a great solution, but if not then you're better off with the bigger card.
My spects:
AMD APU A8-3510MX 1.8 GHz (2.5 GHz)
AMD(TM) Radeon HD 6620g 512Mb + AMD Radeon HD 6470m
6144 Mb RAM

put in another 6870 and have it crossfire, you will not bottlneck your cpu, Im running a A8k overclocked to 3.5 with 2 6850s in crossfire....

This is why I want Lappy with one of the AMD APUs!!! It costs almost nothing and runs games like a charm!

@pheeson
That is correct, the highest you can go with Hybrid crossfire is the 6670, after that the Apu will not use the on board graphics.

@javisonic That's the exact information I was looking for.
Thanks dude!

Im not 100% sure but I think the A6-3650 only supports crossfire with the 6450 & 6350, not the 6570 & 6670.
javisonic 3 months ago
Wil a A6 3650 work with a 6670? Im thinking of getting it as a HTPC but i'd also like to be able to play games on med/high instead of low/med

@gen2sega
No it's not on hybrid crossfire mode its just a bench to see how the A8 performs as a quad processor.

wat?the apu can crossfire with 6870??i thought the apu limit is the 6670 O.O

Yup, once you pop in a 6670 the hybrid crossfire will be enabled as well as you'll be able to access it on the CCC

@biftasi
It's xbox 360 controller compatible, so when ever you plug a controller all the command switch from pc to xbox.
It's also posted on the specs section that I'm using a wired controller.

@javisonic If you use what AMD reccomends: a Radeon HD 6670 or under series card it will use dual graphics - the APU chip and the discrete.

Just a tip. Windows Live movie maker is fine...
As long as you choose: "save movie for high definition display"
That's the only setting that gives me foulproof 1080p full screen.

Why the 6870? You cant go any higher then a 6670 in dual graphics. The A8 + 6670 is better than the 6870.
