The RR Merlin, even today, still ranks as one of the finest piston-engined aero engines ever built - not too bad for the late 30's - in fact, a terrific achievement.
These display engines are usually made of parts that won't pass inspection for airworthy aircraft, and some are made from parts recovered from crash sites.
Looks like he feathered the prop when it went to higher revs. I guess it would have yanked the trailer's pegs out of the ground and started hauling it across the field. Even with that cut-down propeller.
