  • still think "we can't even think of a word to rhyme" must be the best line in any number 1 record ever

  • Most of this music was created by the Taliban to control local populations and keep girls out of school.

  • only 1 week to go then schools out for 6 weeks yeh

  • What catagory would Mr. Cooper fall under? Glam Rock or Heavy Metal? Please let me know.

  • @kja427 they used to call it shock rock

  • WE CAN'T EVEN THINK OF A WORD TO RHYME!!

  • for the kids..

  • I beg your pardon, sir! What an impertinent question. You must have sex on the brain! :)

  • does alice shag the girl after the video shoot?

  • OMG

I searched whats Totp on google and it said TOP OF THE POPS!!

  • @SkipperWordPress err....and...??? It was a POP music programme on TV. Played the chart music so there TOP of the POP music !!!!

  • always loved the guitar sound on this.

  • that one dislike is the principal

  • I saw the Alice Cooper Band in 1972, at the Rubberbowl, in Akron Ohio. I don't remember which song it was, but Alice was put on a gallows and hanged during the performance. At the end of the show Alice threw posters of the band into the audience; and paper panties were dropped from above!

  • Today is my last day of school and I am blaring this song everywhere! Im even wearing my Alice Cooper shirt!

  • @funnybone1959 Welcome to planet reality.

  • I saw Alice Cooper on the 2011 Revolver Golden Gods Awards and could have sure that it was the original Alice Cooper band(minus Glen Buxton).Did anyone else see it??? Was it them??? They got an award for lifetime acheivement!!!!

  • I saw Alice Cooper on the 2011 Revovler Golden Gods Awards and could have sure that it was the original Alice Cooper band(minus Glen Buxton).Did anyone else see it??? Was it them???

  • Last day of fukin school today.... i started listening to this song after the last day of school since fifth grade now gunna be a freshman:]

  • The original Alice Cooper Band ruled! What a sound...monsters in their time! That crew wrote the best music...thanks Michael Bruce!

  • lol they came from america and had a laugh on our english TOTP

  • Great song! Drummer makes everybody smile! :D

  • genius..

  • He is sweeeeeet!(alice cooper) and i love it!!!

  • I was in the 2nd grade when this came out and I can still remember to look on my teachers face when I played it on my 8 track tape player !! Thanks for the songs Alice

  • One of the most memorable TOTP performances ever. Could you imagine Alice getting away with pulling a girls hair and brandishing a sword on TV these days?

TOTP was f**** amazing back in the early 70's.

  • I was allowed to watch TOTP for the first time, the day that this song was number one. I remember putting my face so close to the TV in order to drink Alice's gothicky wonderfulness fully into me...not love just a knowing. From then on, my life took a totally different route! This is the actual performance I watched BTW!

  • That 1 dislike was the world school district

  • what happend to the 16 year old boy in canada?

  • Alice in wonderland is dancing with Alice, the "Anti-Christ" of the 70ies

  • Yeah parents thought Alice was the anti-christ which is funny concidering Alice`s father and Grandfather were both ministers. Alice`s wife`s father also a minister. Alice himself is a born again Christian..Yet when he takes the stage "ALICE" comes alive.

  • for parents in 72 he was the anti-christ...what was the world coming to?....yet he's probably one of the most level-headed guys in rock...excellent golfer....but the parents hated the act...too far out for the staunch conservative middle-class suburnanites....their children were being turned into crazy drug freaks...maybe they were justified somewhat in that thinking...now we feel that way about our kids the way rappers are today with the violent lyrics

  • Blah it's mimed.

  • Very Creative and Smart Man

  • Did all drummers from the 70s have bad backs?? Everyone I see is hunched over their kit.

  • the glen buxton guitar are perfect i love SG'S

  • Wow, when they used to dance to rock. Hippie dresses and all...

  • is that Linda Blair dancing with Alice just curious I could be wrong

  • me and my brothers used to sing this song much to the horror of my mum....

  • My friends and I had more fun to this song than I will ever mention. :-)

  • Seen Alice live twice. Superb. Fantastic show !

  • Love love love Alice Cooper. Probably one of the best ''character'' i've ever seen in the music industry!

  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame here he comes

  • yep, one of the best bands EVER!

  • Now you can tell where Russell Brand got his look from

  • @TheDacronman What is a Russell Brand?

  • I remember watching this in 1972 - I thought it was excellent, still do.

  • cool

  • I love the way that Alice Cooper is dressed, those were great times back then... If I dressed myself like this now, I would be laughed at... fuck this period of time, want to go back, even if I didn´t live back then, but I would love to!!

  • @WolReaper Life wasn't so serious back then. Things were created were today they seem to be contrived all to get your dollar. Back then natural talent ruled supreme. I was 11 years old when this was a hit - I loved it then and I love it now. We were so lucky with music back then.

  • @RitmoNo1 I am feeling kinda envy now, because its allways been my favourite era... 70s, 80s... best music comes from those times like you sad when it was all about natural talent... not like now, that computer crap, anyone can be a singer now...

  • Got to meet Glen Buxton shortly before he died. It was amazing to hear him play this live. Hisw funeral was a very sad day for all who knew him, too bad Vince chose not to attend, but atleast the rest of the band was there.

  • I met Glen Buxton when he was living in Iowa. What a guitar genuis he was. It was a sad day for music when he passed away. The funeral was very sad but wonderful that all the members but Alice showed up.

  • Met Glen Buxton, what a guitar genius. Sadly the world lost a fantastic musician when he passed away. Was great that all the members except Alice showed up for the funeral.

  • King Georges Hall Blackburn Lancashire 1972 ... ahhh good times good friends!

    RIP Bert!

  • King Georges Hall Blackburn Lancashire 1972 ... ahhh good times good friends!

  • the funeral got a bit too much for the corpse

  • i agree with you thevoid99......................... it is mechanicjoe as it was taped for top of the pops

  • ah, this is the summer anthem for kids. once school ends, this song signifies the start of summer.

  • This sounds like the studio version!!

  • @mechanicjoe It is the studio version, overdubbed by Alice.

  • lol scared the hell out of my mom when she heard me singing the words to Dead Babies to myself as I was getting ready for school back in 73 lol.

  • Alice Cooper (Greatest Hits) was the first LP i Ever owned, Got it for Christmas in the early 70's, "Schools out" was the chart buster! I Still listen to it and I'm almost 50!

  • Vaya pedazo de tema...!!!

  • nice, umm, outfits

  • they are still playing this on Absolute Radio!! Bloody Good Song

  • I recall there was a minor 'pupil power' isurrection when this came out summer 1972 (and a free pair of paper knickers with the schools out LP!:)

  • schooool's out this friday :D

  • so deserve a break!!

  • schools out;;; (just today) cant wait till sept already;;; he!

  • For CC, Eryn, Grace, Haddie, Davis and Ryan.

  • Ha!...He doesnt fit in with the people behind him like a goth kid at the carnivel

  • @JamezAwesomeness ...well i know what you means... but you see it with your 21st century eyes... in 1972...the goth (music) family does not exist...i imagine that it arrive progressively from the 78-82 era...

  • This Song is a Motherfucker HYMN

  • Glen Buxton, Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, Michael Bruce, Alice.....the real Alice Cooper.

  • @iffster48126 couldn't agree more!

  • @iffster48126 I met Dennis, Neal and Michael when I attended the funeral of Glen Buxton. He will forever be missed. Glen was one of the most amazing people I have ever met.

  • @iffster48126 It was, just ask my mom.

  • @iffster48126 Yep its a shame everyone associates Alice Cooper with just Vincent Furnier. The actual band was a force to be reckoned with, punk before punk existed.

  • @TheMrEMeat Interesting; - never thought of the band being punk - this was a very big song when it first came out & so was the group - I remember it very well - was about 15 & Alice was trying to shock - just adopting that name was creating quite a stir & controversy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Every time this was played at a school dico there was a mini riot & in the end the school banned it from being played !

We used to run out the gates at the end of term singing this at the top of our voices.

    Oh happy days.

    .

Thank you for uploading this xx

  • r u carzy do you think our parents knew .

  • this must have been pretty damn scary for parents in 972!

  • @nananaalgoodaye true that bro. rebellion was the number one most feared thing for a child. alice cooper back in his prime. ahh the late 60s aand early 70s must've been a chill ass time.

  • @nananaalgoodaye yes lol

  • @nananaalgoodaye It might even be scary for parents nowadays.

  • @frank47hammer true dat but most people's parents listen to him now haha

  • @nananaalgoodaye Dancing with the Stars even played this song on the show last week. but Alice doesn't look as scary these days.

  • @nananaalgoodaye LOL... as a kid in 72 that discovered this, I can say YES, this was scary for the parents.. musically, there is nothing my kid will listen to that will shock me

  • @nananaalgoodaye Yes, I agree ...... but the onset of the 'punk' rock craze, 5 years later, was probably even more scary for them!

  • @TheEctomorph yes but punk in its 1976/77 form never really rocked this hard - most sounds really tame now and far tamer than this - even with the sex pistols its was more the image that was the new thing

  • This was Glam on steroids. Alice can never recreate this. I miss Glenn Buxton...

  • me to R.I.P Glenn buxton

  • alice keeps looking better and better...i love alice...

  • WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MAN! AND HIS BAND

  • alice is so hot

  • god 1972

I remmember starting school hoidays when this came out

Life was so much better then and simple

Im glad I had my youth in the 1970s it was a grat time to be young

  • i remember totp using a fish eye lens on this and thinking it was state of the art (ahh, sweet) my sister dressed me up as cooper for halloween, sure many more kids did then also ;-D

  • @nylonTS I guess you are right, i get sad that i am getting older im 47, i too remember this song.

  • buick, I went to my first Cooper concert 35 years ago when "welcome to my night-mare" came out. How creepy he was, but great music for sure for me at age 15! Still enjoy his music today.

  • My God, has it really been 37 years already? I just saw Alice Cooper again in concert last month and he's still amazing, the songs as fresh as if they'd been released today -- love it to death!!

  • The drummer's style is funny! :D
