I saw the Alice Cooper Band in 1972, at the Rubberbowl, in Akron Ohio. I don't remember which song it was, but Alice was put on a gallows and hanged during the performance. At the end of the show Alice threw posters of the band into the audience; and paper panties were dropped from above!
I saw Alice Cooper on the 2011 Revolver Golden Gods Awards and could have sure that it was the original Alice Cooper band(minus Glen Buxton).Did anyone else see it??? Was it them??? They got an award for lifetime acheivement!!!!

One of the most memorable TOTP performances ever. Could you imagine Alice getting away with pulling a girls hair and brandishing a sword on TV these days?
I was allowed to watch TOTP for the first time, the day that this song was number one. I remember putting my face so close to the TV in order to drink Alice's gothicky wonderfulness fully into me...not love just a knowing. From then on, my life took a totally different route! This is the actual performance I watched BTW!

Yeah parents thought Alice was the anti-christ which is funny concidering Alice`s father and Grandfather were both ministers. Alice`s wife`s father also a minister. Alice himself is a born again Christian..Yet when he takes the stage "ALICE" comes alive.
for parents in 72 he was the anti-christ...what was the world coming to?....yet he's probably one of the most level-headed guys in rock...excellent golfer....but the parents hated the act...too far out for the staunch conservative middle-class suburnanites....their children were being turned into crazy drug freaks...maybe they were justified somewhat in that thinking...now we feel that way about our kids the way rappers are today with the violent lyrics
I love the way that Alice Cooper is dressed, those were great times back then... If I dressed myself like this now, I would be laughed at... fuck this period of time, want to go back, even if I didn´t live back then, but I would love to!!
@WolReaper Life wasn't so serious back then. Things were created were today they seem to be contrived all to get your dollar. Back then natural talent ruled supreme. I was 11 years old when this was a hit - I loved it then and I love it now. We were so lucky with music back then.
@RitmoNo1 I am feeling kinda envy now, because its allways been my favourite era... 70s, 80s... best music comes from those times like you sad when it was all about natural talent... not like now, that computer crap, anyone can be a singer now...
Got to meet Glen Buxton shortly before he died. It was amazing to hear him play this live. Hisw funeral was a very sad day for all who knew him, too bad Vince chose not to attend, but atleast the rest of the band was there.
I met Glen Buxton when he was living in Iowa. What a guitar genuis he was. It was a sad day for music when he passed away. The funeral was very sad but wonderful that all the members but Alice showed up.
Met Glen Buxton, what a guitar genius. Sadly the world lost a fantastic musician when he passed away. Was great that all the members except Alice showed up for the funeral.
Alice Cooper (Greatest Hits) was the first LP i Ever owned, Got it for Christmas in the early 70's, "Schools out" was the chart buster! I Still listen to it and I'm almost 50!
@JamezAwesomeness ...well i know what you means... but you see it with your 21st century eyes... in 1972...the goth (music) family does not exist...i imagine that it arrive progressively from the 78-82 era...
@iffster48126 I met Dennis, Neal and Michael when I attended the funeral of Glen Buxton. He will forever be missed. Glen was one of the most amazing people I have ever met.
@iffster48126 Yep its a shame everyone associates Alice Cooper with just Vincent Furnier. The actual band was a force to be reckoned with, punk before punk existed.
@TheMrEMeat Interesting; - never thought of the band being punk - this was a very big song when it first came out & so was the group - I remember it very well - was about 15 & Alice was trying to shock - just adopting that name was creating quite a stir & controversy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@nananaalgoodaye true that bro. rebellion was the number one most feared thing for a child. alice cooper back in his prime. ahh the late 60s aand early 70s must've been a chill ass time.
@nananaalgoodaye LOL... as a kid in 72 that discovered this, I can say YES, this was scary for the parents.. musically, there is nothing my kid will listen to that will shock me
@TheEctomorph yes but punk in its 1976/77 form never really rocked this hard - most sounds really tame now and far tamer than this - even with the sex pistols its was more the image that was the new thing
i remember totp using a fish eye lens on this and thinking it was state of the art (ahh, sweet) my sister dressed me up as cooper for halloween, sure many more kids did then also ;-D
buick, I went to my first Cooper concert 35 years ago when "welcome to my night-mare" came out. How creepy he was, but great music for sure for me at age 15! Still enjoy his music today.
My God, has it really been 37 years already? I just saw Alice Cooper again in concert last month and he's still amazing, the songs as fresh as if they'd been released today -- love it to death!!
