  • 1895 WTF

  • they didnt have cameras back then and anyway it took 3 hits to take her head off

  • whare is all the blood? its just a doll - -

  • fake, that wasn't Mary, but a double.

Mary currently lives in Oroville Tx, where she runs an oyster bar, owned by.. "you guessed it" Graham Norton.

  • Why was she Executed?

  • Kill her. She's evil.

  • realy fake but it looks cool na na

  • totally fake.....

  • Of course it is, its from the edison laboratory, it was a MOVIE. Mary I, queen of the scots died in 1567.

  • Stupid people on youtube!!!!!! Fucking idiots.

  • Actually, they green screened the axe man and replaced her with a CGI stunt double, then aged the film and added post-shake in After Effects. Text book VFX really.

  • its fake cuz mary queen of scotts was executed in the 15hundreds hundreds of years before edison or cameras were around

  • this is fake, you can see the frame change as he raises his axe to the highest point. the actor who played the queen also was replaced with a dummy, and you can see the body's position change slightly. but its good work for a long time ago.

  • Wait, are you saying they faked Mary's execution?

Or just that this wasn't the original film?

...Or is one of us just very confused?

  • this isn't the original film.

  • Astonishing. Then what happened to the original footage of Mary Queen of Scots being executed?

    Maybe it was stolen!

  • You fucktard, there was no original footage! She was killed before Edison's grandparents were born!

  • What has Edison to do with anything you retard.

  • Because Edison invented the video camera. If Edison wasn't alive to invent the video camera, then they couldn't have videotaped this.

  • Patented in 1867 by William Lincoln. Google it you retard.

  • Wait, you call me a fucktard, and then uprate whoever is complaining that the film is fake?

    Who is the fucktard here?

  • Uh oh... Then what happened to the original film? The execution of Mary, Queen of Scots, was a false flag operation!

Only the long form death certificate can prove the truth.

  • lmfao Marty McFly

  • where did you get that camera, the toilet store!

  • fake

  • fake.... no blood.....

and the vid hang before she get ex.... they ex. a puppet..

  • ridiculous...

  • What's ridiculous about it? It's an old film made by Edison about the the execution of Mary Queen of Scots. They had actors back then too...

  • this aint real, pluss they had to take a second blow as the first one got the back of her neck and it wasnt a clean cut.

  • I can't actually believe that some people think this is real. She was executed in the late 16th century under Elizabeth I's rule, no electricity hence no television.

The last public beheading in England was in 1747 of Lord Lovatt, a Jacobite rebel.

  • its a edison picture..

  • that's like me saying 'the scene from the exorcist is fake'.... course it's fake you muppet....Do you even know what period Mary queen of scots was executed?

  • fake

  • fake..at 0:10 it changes

  • its not fake

  • it iz man...when she was executed there was no TV...idiot

  • Notice the head facing up when it was chopped off, just sayin...

  • i think this is real look how old it looks XD

  • whores

  • this scene is present in the guinnes records book as ''the first special effect in cinema's history''

  • lol.... camera at that time was more faster like the Charlie Chaplin movies and u can see it`s clipt right after he`s cutting her head off with the face up XD Nice try.

  • i thot they had to wack her head like 3 times before it came off?

  • Is it just me, or are these commenters absolutely f*cked in the head? Like, it's 1895, give it a break!

    Anyways, thanks for the upload.

  • The least they could of done would of been to put the dummy face down lmao.. and absolutely no blood effects - they had ketchup back then. For christ sake they could of used any colored liquid, as it was black and white.. There was plenty of filming done much better before 1900, like boxing matches.

  • hmm, didn't know they had cameras back then =P

  • lol nice reaction, it saved me doing it.

  • the fact that the head comes off like its a lego block dosent strike anybody as odd? :P btw the axe strike at her back

  • wasn't Mary queen of scots 2 shots?

  • Back then people thought this was amazing. This was very first special effect, happened before there was sound, happened before people were making anything longer than a 12 minute movie.

  • This was the very first special effect done in movies. This effect was achieved by stopping the camera after the monarch rested her head on the block and just as the executioner was about to strike. She was replaced with a dummy and the shooting resumed as the ax descended. This ability to stop the action and start it again without any apparent temporal break would prove to be one of the key elements in shaping the stylistic conventions of movies.

  • stop at 0:10!

  • I'm really amused that some people think this is real! Mary, Queen of Scots was executed in 1587. This is a Victorian RE-ENACTMENT filmed in 1895! Special effects, nothing more grisly than that. Shows the need for history to be taught in schools

  • This is not real~~~Don't you understand????

  • I'm sorry but I strongly doubt this vidz authenticity.

  • This may be the first death in the movies. Either this or the Joan of Arc movie.

  • ah! twist to the story ;)

  • Actually no, this is actually just stop action.

  • 0:10--- there is the trick

Just press play/pause and you will see it..

  • this is probrably animated its goog but it took 2 blows of the axe one hit the back of her head and one chopped it off if your wondering how i know this information its my project at school

  • The quality of the film is not so good. But, I suppose it's not bad considering she was executed over 400 years ago.

  • 0:10--- there is the trick. Good.

  • well it also took 3 blows of the axe aswell

  • It took two blows actually.

When Elizabeth found this out, reluctant to execute her in the first place, she was absolutely livid...

  • Just like Princess Diana. But with an axe.

  • Why do people think this is real? I guess that's a compliment to the special effects here, which is quite impressive considering that it was made in 1895.

  • faker than pam andersons tits

  • This short film, titled "The Execution of Mary, Queen of Scots", from 1895 is an short film. I in no way see that the poster of this video tried to pretend it is an actual video from the actual execution of Mary Stuart. It's amazing how you go on with life if you think that the title of everything is completely representative of what it is. Do you also think that the Showtime show "The Tudors" is claiming to be completely real and filmed in the Tudor period because it has the name "The Tudors"?

  • Do you think they're pretending they got actual film footage from pirates in the 1700s when they come out with a movie titled "Pirates of the Caribbean"? Do you also believe that they are trying to trick us into thinking that they have real footage of Santa Claus every time a new kid's Santa movie comes out? Brilliant comment.

  • it's a movie...why would it be real?

  • duh...it's a movie not a recording...go look it up...it's the first horror movie ever made and it was filmed in america

  • your'e thinking of Anne Boleynn.

  • Mary Stuart was executed in 1587 and i doubt there were any televisions at that time and the industrial revolution had not even been born...its always very exciting to know about events in history and why we are here today

  • This is a film acted in 1895 featuring her execution...

  • Wow I he did in one blow I am impressed

  • so ahead of its time

  • It is rumored that Thomas Edison invited the time machine and traveled back to time to film various events in history, this film is one of them. He even filmed the dinosaurs, but they film was ruined in a fire.

  • your crazy

  • It's a reinactment of her execution, of course it's not real! It was made in 1895 by ACTORS.

  • i thought they had to do it 3 times because the knife didn't go through her neck the first 2 times? x

  • try getting the fucking date right 'cable enable'.

  • And what date would that be?

  • NO SHIT REALLY?!?!?!? i kno. i'm just being a smart ass.

  • thats fake u can tell!!! look real at the 9sec mark a few times.

  • lol you doorknob rayxof- go read some history books and find out who the character is+ time period.

  • i mean 'boatracer' -not 'rayxof'

  • FAKE

  • is this a movie?

  • lol the guy just casually picks up the "head"

  • It's only a film made in 1895. It's known to be the first film using special effects... And many people believed that the actress died during the scene... xDD

  • lol its fake. just look closley.

  • It's funny how some people are actually arguing whether this is real or not...

Alfred Clark (the director) stopped filming and changed Queen Mary (the actress) with a life size dummy. Then he started filming again. That's how the film was done.

  • This is fake, Mary Queen of Scots died in the 1500 not in the 1800. This is fake. U can also tell that just before the chop off they have cut and put a doll there instead.

  • What movie is this from?

  • MISTY IN ROOTSSSS

  • hmmm...that does seem pretty ....bad dont like seeing peoples haeds being choped off ...but weoo!!

  • its fake because the picture changes fast or just paste together to look like someone is chopped of there head the person is being changed the lsat one is a dummy

  • gay shit

  • Wow! I suppose this "movie" was made to show off what this "new" technology could do! Imagine everyone, that you've never seen a movie before...a moving picture. And you see this "execution" happening. You wouldn't be able to tell it was fake. That's the genius of it.

  • lol fake as fuck!!

    dont worry,

if you examine closely the blade makes zero incision. it is a brittle failure of the neck. a mechanical fault not present in organic tiusse above the temprature of ~40 degrees c.

    this is counterfeit

  • its a film as in like hollywood you fool. of course its a "fake" its not meant to be real its just the first use of special effect in cinema and concidering the kinetograph was only invented in 1883 its pretty speedy at introducing special effects to fool the audiance.

  • is this a fake or is it real?

  • it was produced by edison manufacturing co. but not thomas personally.

  • they didnt have films back then i should know, i am a historian. by the way it took 3 strokes of the axe, she was on the low block which meant she was lying down and their are at least 4 romours sbout the executioner pulling up hear head and a horrible thing happening.

  • it's fake one.. LOL

  • ALL WRONG!!!!!! It took two strikes of the axe to behead poor Mary, and when the executioner picked up her head it fell away, as she was wearing a wig.

  • actually did you know it took 3 strikes and it was on a low block which meant she had to lay down (like in elizabeth the golden age) and it had no rising, so the neck didnt stick up thus making at least 2 strikes ubove.

  • nevermind, I didn't read the comments, I now know that they didn't actually kill a person, the camera stops and then restarts, so they put a fake person there. How clever they were for way back then

  • people, this isn't an actual video of the event. Thomas Edison made this, it was the first video he ever made. Look it up on IMDB. What I don't understand it, did they actually just kill that person for this short little video? They must have becuase it's not liek they had special effect lmao

  • Of course they had special effects. Ever heard of the whistle shot or the stop frame shot? This is what you're seeing. Essentially filming one action, stopping the camera, replacing what you want to trick the audience with and then film.

Filmmakers have been using in-camera special effects ever since the late 1800s. Go watch A Trip to the Moon on YouTube. It's made around the same time as this film. If you think they really made martians disappear with an umbrella, then we need to talk.

  • actually this is commonly accepted as the first-ever special effect on film. Its by Alfred Clark not thomas edison you spoon! (thats for emilynisshoku)

  • Lol way to smack the mannequin right on the shoulders...

  • Didnt have films back then? jesus christ, Mary queen of scots was executed in 1587 in a closed gallery.

  • what a good shot too.Hit the mannequin right in the shoulder.Poor wench would be like nearly headless nick ;o) From some ancient old movie I take it.

  • They didn't have film back then, this is all your imagination.

  • thats real holy crap the lady like transformed on the block thing!!!!

  • lmfao movie from 1587 is it , : ) nice one lol , came out of that space ship did it : )

  • fake...9 and 10 seconds camera is stopped and restarted

  • Duh duh doiiii doii Good job

  • I am disgusted by YouTube allowing so-called "snuff films". I will complain. Does anyone know how I can do that?

  • complain? thats all you fuckin twinks do is bitch and whine about somethin you dont like. you dont run you tube. you dont pay for the services. so shut the fuck up and enjoy the service.

  • complain? your a whinney ass prick. Why did u even watch the video

  • I am also annoyed by the literal-minded displayed by commenters on Youtube. I will complain about *that* too. Just as soon as I work out how to.

  • YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS! Its a movie by the Edison Company at the beggining of film, this is from around 1890-1900, its fake yes, but its a historical movie because its the first movie to explore special effects ..

  • Stopfief you are a fucking retard. If you are genuinely offended by this sort of thing then I suggest you get your Mummy to phone the Interweb police on 0044 12345678.

  • For goodness' sake, can all the mouth-breathers please stop responding to my blatantly JOKEY comment, while I work out how to get Youtube to stop spamming my inbox with "Another Numbskull Has Replied To Your Comment"?

I have enough on my plate with working out how to report this snuff video to the Interweb Police.

  • Amazing documentary. Yes this is the real footage.

  • No, it's not. Obviously...

  • Funny how people complain about obvious special effects considering this was filmed more than 100 years ago. When this came out back in the day people were terrified due to lack of precedents of this nature, and this is what makes this scene a classic in the vaults of horror films.

  • Exactly

  • This was the first use of special effects in a movie.

  • Obvious edit at 10 seconds

  • Mary Queen of scots was executed in 1587 in Fotheringay Castle,Norhtamptonshire.

  • wrong

  • no acutally its right!

8 February 1587 (aged 44)Fotheringhay Castle, Northamptonshire. (its said it took two strikes to decapitate Mary)

  • wasnt it 3?

  • It has been suggested that it took three strikes to decapitate Mary instead of two. If so, then Mary would have been executed with the same number of axe strikes as Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex. It has been postulated that said number was part of a ritual devised to protract the suffering of the victim

  • Where's the blood?? and the execution was done in the Church!!

  • yup i agree that Mary, Queen of Scots was executed in the late 1500s. Btw to execute her head, it tooked 3 BLOWS!! not 1 and a little bit help from the SAW.

  • that is the fake date. my anut was execution was in the 1500s. she is my anut for real

  • Well, I'm not really sure what an "anut" is, but I'd believe you if it were your (distant) "aunt".

  • hehe I agree!

  • in fact you can see that at her head is pointet down but suddenly it is pointet up and looking ind the air...hmm...something is not right there ...

  • yes i saw the switch

  • In reality it took 3 attempts to behead Mary.

  • LOL!!

  • I see it if you look at 00:09 to 00:10 you'll see the switch of the real woman to the dummy, it happens real quick.

  • Is this the real thing?

  • I think this video is a fake execution and a very good one

  • huh?

  • mary took two strokes to cut her head off

  • it was actually 15

  • thats a little hard to beleive, did u not see that HBO special of Queen Elizabeth i got it from there, but we could be wrong

  • People, read your film history. This was a movie made in the 1800s about an event that took place in the 1500s. How hard is it for some of you to grasp that? Look it up on imdb.

  • FIRST OF ALL, MQS was executed in 1587!

  • Queen Mary was Annointed Queen by God. They should not of killed her.

  • well if that is what you believe then that's ok...but there are others that don't really think so...

  • Let them think what they,I don't care.I'm just saying this through common sense.

I like Queen Elizabeth, she is my favourite.

All I'm saying is,Queen Mary was also annointed Queen by God,just like Queen Elizabeth is annointed Queen.

It is a massive sin to kill a Queen who is Annointed by God.

Im not into history, but I have common sense.

  • lol ok Elizabeth us my favorite in the Tudor family...I think she was quite brilliant ^.^

  • sorry IS ^.^ my favorite Tudor

  • umm. guys this is one of the first special movie effect shot which was made by Thomas Edison Production in 1895. That is why it says Edison labatory 1895.

  • There were no Cameras in the 1500...

  • Film worked pretty good for not being invented yet in this film?

  • i don't understand. This is very obviously not real and it seems like anyone that comments on it gets their information from google searches. Anishinaabe maybe one of these but they are correct. In any other case you are a pox on the history of humanity. google that.

  • FAKE FAKE

  • Mary Stuart, Queen of France.

  • This was the sad end of Mary Queen of Scots. However, you need not look half-millennia to recall barbarism in our history. It exists and has evolved into "accepted" forms of murderous debauchery.

  • Mary, Queen of Scots, was killed only after being axed three times. The first blow hit either the back of her head or shoulder. At that point witnesses recount her saying to her executors, "Sweet Jesus." The executor then administered another blow, and a final third to cut the sinews from her head to her spine. Her head was thereby lifted and fell, as she was wearing a wig.

  • Even if that movie is fack , That's what's really happend to the Queens Marry .

  • C'mon people. Obviously, it's fake, but it was made freaking 112 years ago. That's a long time, and I'm sure if you lived back then, you'd be outraged that they filmed someone's actual execution.

  • Mary Queen of Scots was executed in 1587 not 1859, and it took at least two (some believe three) strikes to decapitate her. This is 100% fake.
