@bidaobidao - none, sorry... learned from years of osmosis and scads of failure. If tab is what you're after, seek out Ari Eisinger's Blind Lemon Jefferson video from Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop. It's all there!
Love your work here. Very very nicely executed. I'm shocked how many of these nuances I use in my own playing but learned through more of the Georgia blues avenues. Thanks for posting... keep up the great preservation of music.
@LittleBrotherBlues - thanks for checking it out and for the kind words... I never really think about my own playing having 'nuances' - more like a bunch of limitations strung together!
@JimiChristopher - thanks, jimi. I just returned to bad luck blues after years of not playing it, and ended up reminding myself how much I like Lemon's singing. What a giant!
The guitar started and I was like FAR OUT this cat's got it down ... then I waited to be disappointed by the singing .. and it was great too ... Great work man!
You are the man for your legitimate covers of Jefferson. Great job on Rambler Blues and That Crawlin Baby Blues too. Got any ambitions of taking on Charlie Patton? :)
Damn boy, That is some fine pickin'. You've got some Merle Travis and Chet Atkins action going there. Just plain good. Keep puttin' this music on here bro!
too much other stuff bubbling in the brain... i posted some links to some audio i recorded a while ago in the "more info" section of the video. not as much fun as a video, but maybe it'll be worth listening to.
There's a real Authenticity and feel about some of the great Unknown Blues musicians like Yourself that I've 'discovered here on YouTube. You have more 'depth and feeling' than the seemingly 'manufactured record label Pop Blues we hear from the likes of Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Keb Mo ! There ain't no real Blues Spirit in their Music.
damn dude!!! im always dissapointed listening to covers of old blues songs but i swear to god, this is fucking awesome! dont mean to blow smoke up your ass but seriously: goosebumps.
Excellent authentic BLJ rendition! You've got all of his licks down unlike any I've heard. I'd like to hear you do 'Lectric Chair Blues and/or "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean". They're similar to One Dime Blues (key of E that is), and would really like to hear you do them. Thanks.
Thanks... I've messed with quite a few of his blues in E (and C, and G, and A...)... I really love 'Lectric Chair and might do that one of these days. I never could work up much enthusiasm for See That My Grave Is Kept Clean - I'd rather do Where Shall I Be? or All I Want Is That Pure Religion... but there's a lot of stuff that's higher on the list than that. So little time, so many tunes... thanks for watching.
It's a teens or twenties parlor guitar - possibly Oscar Schmidt made... doesn't matter... once Todd Cambio rescued it from oblivion, it sounds & plays great.
Very nice rendition. True to the original w/o being a carbon copy. Good job with the vocals, too. Jefferson has such an odd voice, I wasn't sure how one would go about covering him. You nailed it.
excellent
