  • excellent

  • @neal4434 - thanks!

  • Great job, beautifully done

  • @goatman666 - hey... thanks!

  • You impressed me fat guy!Great job!I rarely see a good old blues performing well. Very good!

  • @PunkroadCrazycity - thanks. I think.

  • Really cool man, have you got any tab for that song?

  • @bidaobidao - none, sorry... learned from years of osmosis and scads of failure. If tab is what you're after, seek out Ari Eisinger's Blind Lemon Jefferson video from Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop. It's all there!

  • great job buddy. how long you been playin, if i may ask?

  • @AllKindsaGirls - thanks. been playing about 30 years at this point. still feel like there's so much i don't know.

  • Fantastic

  • @totalvoman - thanks for watching & glad you liked it!

  • @frankie12string great!!!hope you like mine too...

  • Love your work here. Very very nicely executed. I'm shocked how many of these nuances I use in my own playing but learned through more of the Georgia blues avenues. Thanks for posting... keep up the great preservation of music.

  • @LittleBrotherBlues - thanks for checking it out and for the kind words... I never really think about my own playing having 'nuances' - more like a bunch of limitations strung together!

  • Fantastic .. i'm learning bad luck blues .. think i'll work this one out after :D if i can end up playing it anything like you i'll be very happy.

  • @JimiChristopher - thanks, jimi. I just returned to bad luck blues after years of not playing it, and ended up reminding myself how much I like Lemon's singing. What a giant!

  • Do you give out tabs?

  • @AUSROTTENY2K - hi. I would if I had some, but I don't have any... sorry!

  • The guitar started and I was like FAR OUT this cat's got it down ... then I waited to be disappointed by the singing .. and it was great too ... Great work man!

  • @Monimino - thanks!

  • This really is great!

  • That was great!! Would that guitar be considered a palour guitar?

  • @mongoose707tt yup - there's a description of the guitar in the comments somewhere...

  • Wow you sure can play.

  • @debbieswinyer - thanks! I do my best!

  • very enjoyable!

  • Far out man.

  • Very nice.

  • Sweet Frankie........real nice job!

  • amazing..what tuning is that bro..?

  • Standard, key of E

  • You are the man for your legitimate covers of Jefferson. Great job on Rambler Blues and That Crawlin Baby Blues too. Got any ambitions of taking on Charlie Patton? :)

  • only to the extent that I can make music out of it... the three of us have some fun with Elder Greene Blues now and then.

  • fantastic!...I cant believe my ears...

  • GREAT

  • what is your guitar ?

  • Damn boy, That is some fine pickin'. You've got some Merle Travis and Chet Atkins action going there. Just plain good. Keep puttin' this music on here bro!

  • I doubt Blind Lemon paid them much attention

  • Hi there !

Thats by far the best Blind Lemon playing and singing I've ever heard - excellent !!!

My pal ProfScratchy does pretty good to, but I don't think he'll mind me saying you pipped him at the post !

  • ProfScratchy is a good dude and a good player. I'm sure there's nothing I can do that he's already done better.

  • Radical! is there tab available?

  • Great sound - I'm woking on it but this makes it plain I've got a long way to go - Loverly

    Javahead

  • Awesome! Sounds a lot like Chet, but Jefferson was one of his main influences, so it makes sense...

  • Jeez.... I've played for almost 40 years and I'm not that good LOL

  • assholes with your abiliy dont hang out on you tube.....they end up on geraldo show........

  • the comment is for choctawliz

  • That's a pretty fuckin' good job man.

    Seriously.

  • Nice job Frankie! Really like it.

  • Nice to hear someone got his skills together before going public with it, sooo good.

  • betiful-i loving to play so good as you-thanking you for betiful sing and gitar

  • Would you do "Hang Man Blues" Please sir? :-)

  • oh my god, i agree, hang man is my favoirtie song, a bone chilling song, please do us the favor!

  • too much other stuff bubbling in the brain... i posted some links to some audio i recorded a while ago in the "more info" section of the video. not as much fun as a video, but maybe it'll be worth listening to.

  • Thats some really righteous finger picking!!! After playing since 1972 I'm just now starting to get into finger picking. You make it look easy :-)

  • I agree with the poster below...you got the feeling! I play old country blues as well and my ear knows what authentic sounds like.

Todd does great work, doesn't he....I have a Fraulini Erma

  • "Almost Spooky - like you're 'possesed by

B.L.J's spirit as you play his song. Your

playing and vocals are EXCELLENT !

There's a real Authenticity and feel about some of the great Unknown Blues musicians like Yourself that I've 'discovered here on YouTube. You have more 'depth and feeling' than the seemingly 'manufactured record label Pop Blues we hear from the likes of Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Keb Mo ! There ain't no real Blues Spirit in their Music.

But You Swim in it! GREAT !"

  • this is going in favorites

  • damn dude!!! im always dissapointed listening to covers of old blues songs but i swear to god, this is fucking awesome! dont mean to blow smoke up your ass but seriously: goosebumps.

  • That was so great! That is one of the best lemon songs, thanks for keeping Lemon alive.all around great job. ty

  • nice

  • Excellent authentic BLJ rendition! You've got all of his licks down unlike any I've heard. I'd like to hear you do 'Lectric Chair Blues and/or "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean". They're similar to One Dime Blues (key of E that is), and would really like to hear you do them. Thanks.

  • Thanks... I've messed with quite a few of his blues in E (and C, and G, and A...)... I really love 'Lectric Chair and might do that one of these days. I never could work up much enthusiasm for See That My Grave Is Kept Clean - I'd rather do Where Shall I Be? or All I Want Is That Pure Religion... but there's a lot of stuff that's higher on the list than that. So little time, so many tunes... thanks for watching.

  • Man, there's no way you can't feel that rhythm. That was playing.

  • Nice job! Well played and sung! What make/model guitar are you playing?

  • It's a teens or twenties parlor guitar - possibly Oscar Schmidt made... doesn't matter... once Todd Cambio rescued it from oblivion, it sounds & plays great.

  • Your voice and guitar are perfect! Fantastic job!

  • I'm happy!!! It's Great!!! Thanx Ya;)

  • been trying to do this one think I'll get it done soon ,good job by the way railroadDon

  • GREAT!!!!!

  • thanks for this great post

  • Hey, not bad for a white boy. :) Seriously, that's some mighty fine blues!

  • Thanks!

  • woah, great job! Is that standard tuning by any chance?

  • Std tuning, key of E. I might have been sharp or flat of concert at the time of recording... I don't remember.

  • Very nice rendition. True to the original w/o being a carbon copy. Good job with the vocals, too. Jefferson has such an odd voice, I wasn't sure how one would go about covering him. You nailed it.

  • Thanks. Do you really consider Lemon's voice odd? I've always found him to be an amazingly beautiful singer & very easy to listen to.

  • Bad choice of words. I love his voice. But I couldn't imagine how one might sing like him without trying to copy him too closely.

  • The music made have been originally by Lemon, but you sang it like it was yours, man. One of the bluesiest performances I've seen here.

  • Thanks - that's a very nice thing to say!

  • Beautiful work man!

    Very authentic rendition.

I think I will change my version

and play like you. Thanks for posting.

  • It's all about Lemon, for me... just trying to get inside the tune.

  • Great playing man!

  • very nice!

  • Nice rendition!

  • Waking up in the morning to discover you've posted a new video is tops.
