I live in New York and the state police here get paid the most in the United States I believe, after one year they are making about 81,000 salary plus overtime so most make about 130,000 a yr

Not all cops think the skateboard culture is bad, it just needs a close eye. Those kids need babysitters because they involve themselves in risky behavior which is usually illegal. I am going to be going to a Montana or Wyoming academy soon, and I am 19 years old..I grew up in a town surrounded my the "skateboarding culture" and most every one of them that I knew, included themselves in regular illegal activity.

Were did you grow up? Ususaly to southern states dont understand are alterntive lifestyle. Wyoming is called the cowboy state, i dont think they would quite understand our lifestyle, go watch the movie SLC PUNK, you would get a idea. Well, for me if I did not descovor skateboarding I would not be here, or I would be in jail, skateboarding saved my life in high school, then it became a life style. Not alot of people understand that aspect of why people skateboard it is an outlet for them. I'm responcible I have a job and prioities, but I never grew up to were I sold out! CHP is only Highway Patrol, and yes they are not paid as much as they should be as Troopers. Washington County Sheriff's Office (OR) is where it's at, I believe the academies are merged now but don't quote me on that.

That is not true. CHP is also the state police. We used to have an agency known as the California State Police, which merged with the CHP in 1995. Check your facts before you make misinformed posts.

I'm fairly sure that the CHP pays better than any other state agency in the U.S.

That's not true. The CHP merged with the California State Police in 1995. They just kept the name CHP because it was the bigger of the two agencies.

I'm sure its beautiful as far as nature goes, but there really isn't much to do up there, unlike the Golden State. I'm from San Diego, I don't think I could ever relocate...which is the main reason why I wouldn't join the CHP either. I want to work for a local agency.
