I had this scope on an my DDM4. For the price.. this is on hell of a scope. There was on problem though. The crosshairs in mine were slightly canted. NcStar replaced it with a brand new one, which was also canted. Minor cant but it bothered me. Even with the cant, it was dead on accurate at ANY range. I eventually changed it out for a non-magnifying Aimpoint, but I kept it as a back up. This scope can keep up with the high priced versions with no problems.

how well could you see the red dot with a solid cheek hold on the buttstock?

Absolutely! The cool thing is you can add the ACOG style scope to an Airsoft without having to pay for a really expensive scope.
Not to mention it will stand up to most any recoil of an actual rifle.
