  • A friend of mine burned a CD of an original recording of these guys, I've been listening to it nonstop.

  • I used to have one of Hamilton's Impulse recording, long gone. But I was reintroduced in the early '70's after discovering 'Jazz Canto', more or less an ode to the 'beats'. Hamilton and Bob Dorough put that together, along with another disc named 'Blues Canto' (which I still haven't heard). Fred Katz did some arranging on here. I'm going to have to explore the Chico Hamilton canon again.

    thanks

  • You're welcome, GaryALucas-san!!

  • @60otaku4 Silly me, of course I got it through Amazon. It's still listed there by typing 'jazz canto'.

  • Is this Russ Freeman's "The Wind?"

  • Yes, this is the tune that Russ Freeman composed.

  • Yes, so much of it is timeless,,, much to appreciate,,, thanks for posting this and your response!

  • You're welcome, robertwbecker-san!!

  • Wow. ... Excellent.

And quite a humble band leader - almost nowhere to be found on this track!

  • Very,Very Cool and still new!!!! Really!!!!

  • @robertwbecker I've noticed that about the jazz of the 50s. Most of it still really holds up! Just so timelessly smart and cool.
