Well, first off, as other comments mentioned, this isn't an RFID tag. The tag is just an inductor (coil) and capacitor (two sandwiched layers in the center). Second, you just discovered microwave plasma! Search "microwave plasma" on the web, lots of interesting material.

Well, first off, as other comments mentioned, this isn't an RFID tag. The tag is just an inductor (coil) and capacitor (two sandwiched layers in the center). Second, you just discovered microwave plasma! Search "microwave plasma" on the web, lots of interesting material.
I experienced a similar blast of microwave plasma when I microwaved a paper CD label that I'd peeled off the disc, taking the aluminum layer with it. It arced like twice and then BOOOOM. Kitchen filled with smoke.

Sorry to burst the bubbles of all the people watching and commenting on this video thinking that is an RFID tag, but it is NOT.
It is an EAS tag, also known as Electronic Article Surveillance tag. Which are used for article surveillance, mostly for retail establishments. They put them on dvds, etc. This is not off of someones drivers license etc.

of course,but EAS tags are a very primitive form of RFID since the RF circuitry is identical but the tags are just very basic electronic "tuning forks" rather than a data storage and tracking device. When the "gates" at your favorite shop encounter one of these still active, it will electronically resonate and An alarm trips at the store door. :P

Yeah humans aren't exactly the smartest when it comes to independent thought, especially after propaganda plots engulf their faces everywhere they look.
