  • This is EXACTLY what being a grown-up pop fan is like.

  • Well done for ruining the fucking punchline by posting is as the title of the video.

  • ADAM RICKETT!!!!!

  • Follow me if you are a big fan of Billie Piper and Doctor Who on Twitter @BilliePiper82

  • I thought the East Africa Oxfam thing was the sketch

  • Oh, adverts on the BBC? I can stop wasting my money on a licence fee then.

  • @ursie1986 It's not the BBC, it's the BBC's channel on Youtube. If there weren't adverts on Youtube, then we'd all end up having to pay to use it. At least they give us the option to skip the things. If you're wasting your time on here (like I am) watching archived BBC footage, then you can spare 30 seconds of your clearly not particularly precious time before watching a video.

  • @db1each ooooooooh, handbags! presumtuous handbags!

  • @ursie1986 Er, what the hell is a "presum(p)tuous handbag"?

  • @db1each ooooooh, spelling nazi handbag!

  • @ursie1986 I just don't understand what handbags have to do with anything, that's all.

  • Whigfield and Adam Rickett I remember, but Debbie Gibson?

  • I love the detail when he goes to put on the album it makes a grammar phone sound at the beginning! :D

  • the little boys voice is brilliant

  • i wish bbc would stop putting the entire plot in the titles

for me this sketch would have been better if i wasn't waiting for a Billie Piper reference

    surely the sketch is juxtaposition

these kind of people in this kind of tv program/film shouldn't be talking about Billie Piper

  • Imagine Simon Pegg as Dr Who's assistant..

  • I wonder if Simon Pegg mentioned this to her when he did those episodes of Doctor Who? Or if he kept very quiet about it.

  • Christina Ugly-Haira.

  • So much fulsome praise for Simon Pegg (okay, he deserves it). But what about Amelia Bullmore's brilliant performance?

  • @slacknhash

    That's Tracy Ann Obermann surely?

  • @aberdeenstu1 Although Tracy-Ann Obermann was in series two of Big Train (see the Ralph 'Streets of London' McTell and Meeting the New Girlfriend sketches, for example), I'm pretty sure this is a sketch from series one. You might also recognise Amelia Bullmore from Brass Eye and Jam (the TV lizards sketch)

  • @slacknhash You are right about the series numbers of course, but the lady in this sketch does have the same face as the actress Tracy-Ann Obermann, and has a different face to the actress Amelia Bullmore. Given that Amelia Bullmore also has a different face to Tracy-Ann Obermann leads me to only two possible conclusions, Either this is the actress Tracy-Ann Obermann or it is someone with an identical face to the actress Tracy-Ann Obermann.

  • @aberdeenstu1 Ooh, now that just sounds sinister!

Mind you, given Tracy-Ann Obermann's involvement with Torchwood (up until the Cyberman invasion, at least) I'm sure we've got plenty of reason to assume something underhanded is going on.

  • @aberdeenstu1 Conceded. My eyes have started working again.

  • @slacknhash

I'm sure its Amelia Bullmore in those car insurance adverts though, with Chris Addison.

  • Oooh! Mummy I saw an ADVERT on a BBC video! Oooh! Let's all refuse to pay our licence fee because we're all lower-middle class ignoramuses who know our 'rights' but can't even spell 'licence fee', let alone get our thick skulls round why it's necessary because we demand free EVERYTHING! Whinge whinge whinge...

  • Adam Rickitt...

  • Very funny. Wish the BBC could still make classy comedy like this.

  • So dated now, both Billie and Patsy made comebacks not long after this went out.

  • I thought bbc don't advertise? You won't be needing my license money then will you?

  • fuck you bbc with adverts!!! DO NOT PAY YOUR LICENSE FEE

  • Regret to inform.....STOP....that I feel his pain....STOP!!!!

  • Hey, I make hats! You got a problem with that?!?!?

  • This is even funnier now, knowing that Billie's stint as Rose Tyler made her more famous than her music career.

  • @Mikemaniax And dont forget that Simon Pegg was also in an episode of Doctor Who with Billie Piper

  • @PromiserOfDeath Of course. On Satellite 5 with the Jagrafess.

  • @PromiserOfDeath I wonder if Billie ever mentioned seeing this sketch to Simon while they were on set. "Oi. Simon, remember when you blew your brains out on Big Train over me?"

  • @Mikemaniax Oh the things I've blown out over Billie Piper...

  • She's the actress who plays Tracy Anne in Doctor Who, isn't she?

  • I didn't even know she was a pop star. I just thought she was an actress.

  • @hannabeth32 That's because she wants to

  • damn i love sweater vests, they really should make a come back! this sketch is brilliant!

  • In only David Tennant was actually in this sketch.

  • simon pegg was good till he went all american

  • wtf is up with those children's voices

  • @secretspacewoman sounds like they've been overdubbed by some of teh big train team, sounds hilarious, and creepy, which is even hilariouser!

  • @secretspacewoman I know RIGHT!?!?!!?!?!? lol

  • LOL - theyve all been in Dr Who now...Simon Pegg was The Editor, Billie was obviously Rose and the woman plays River Song!

  • @chrisppeddie That isn't River Song, but she DID play the head of Torchwood in Army of Ghosts/Doomsday.

  • @deadmansshoes82 - I stand corrected! She played Yvonne Hartman. Well done!

  • Good God! wtf is up with those kids' voices!?

  • @videogamenostalgia They are making fun of a technique often used in British 50s B-movies where children were dubbed with the voices of adults pretending to be children. Don't ask me why that was done in the 50s (actors' unions, minimising retakes?), but it's typical of Big Train's attention to detail.

  • @pme96 back then they believed that kids wouldn't be able to perform the lines, so they would just dubb it with an adult who can

  • Whigfeild,Debbie Gibson....AAADAM RIICKET .....creatively she'll be finished!!!!!

  • Looveee Billie Piperrr ;)))

  • Yes but Patsy makes the occasional film.

    Does she? Does she REALLY?

  • This was before Doctor Who then I take it?

  • And of course both adult actors then took on parts in Doctor Who later when Billie was in it. Wonder if any of them remembered this sketch...

  • @StKildaFan Yes it was 2001

  • Christina is hurting his dreams

  • Billie Piper is serious business...

  • Agreed buddy!

  • LMAO i love watching this... it's sooo funny

  • Its part of the sketch lol ...

  • Why do the children talk like retards

  • They are making fun of a technique often used in British 50s B-movies where children were dubbed with the voices of adults pretending to be children. Don't ask me why that was done in the 50s (actors' unions, minimising retakes?), but it's typical of Big Train's attention to detail.

  • what? i didn't know, that this song was by billie piper! we had this song in english class!

  • I didn't even know Billie Piper was a singer. I only knew her from Doctor Who.

And I didn't recognise any of those other names they mentioned aside from Debbie Gibson. I guess the US and UK music charts are even more different than I realised.

  • it was in 1998 (i think) she got in to the charts. also the song is bloody annoying. but the charts can be really different.

  • She had a couple of albums out. She's actually a decent singer when she does some more of the sultry stuff (Honey To The Bee/Day & Night were pretty cool).

God damn, I suck as a metalhead.

  • @Twaddlefish yeah, you do.

  • @emildevries You heard Slash's new one yet? There's Fergie and the girl from the Pussycat Dolls doing a duet with Alice Cooper. And it's awesome :p

  • @Twaddlefish oh god, sweet jesus no!

  • Charts are a lot more eclectic than the U.S., sometimes thats an advantage and sometimes a disadvantage.

  • this programme is from quite a while ago.

i havent heard of any of them either, and i'm english.

  • haa i love this. i'm a fan of billie's acting. not singing

  • the way he ses adam rickett! ahhh brilliant

  • Big Train is one of the most underrated sketch shows ever made, bloody genius.

  • Thank god for him she has been a big success since!

  • '...........Whigfield,Debbie Gibson,Adam Riiiiicket..........' lol briliant

  • solid 24 carat gold

  • ROFL!!!!!

  • haha!

  • LOL! simon pegg so funni !

  • lmao

  • Great sketch - shame the punchline is stolen by the title and description . . .

fabulous line - "its like Patsy Kensit all over again"

  • rofl, can't go wrong with simon pegg and big train

  • hehehe brilliant!

  • Brilliant!

  • That is so much genius right there xD
