O.K. Folks. Lets be reasonable. As a horse owner, I have a deep and profound relationship with my horse that DOES NOT approve of indiscriminate slaughter of horse for financial gain. However, if a horse is suffering,old,or sick I have no objection to strictly controlled,monitored,and policed humane euthanasia. Maybe if the problem was approched from this direction the innocent horses caught up in this mess will be spared.
After all the years of service the horse has given,is it not just that they die a respectful death?To be sent to auctions and suffer in the trailer rides and the inhumane way they kill them,the fear they sense,the smells,the screams of other horses who die before them in plain sight...Do they not deserve a death that is respectful of all that they have done for us...there owners?Are they not worthy of the amount it cost to Euthinise them properly?
If you really love horses, be rational. There are not enough non-profit organizations to take in all those horses. What about the horses who require thousands of dollars anually in shoeing and vet bills, who will pay for that?

We can educate people, but we will never be able to eradicate neglection and abuse. In an ideal world, all unwanted horses would be humanely euthanized, but sadly many people are unwilling to pay the small price.

They passed an amendment to the ag budget last year to pull the inspectors but the USDA arranged to let the plants pay their own. A law to ban horse slaughter passed the house last month but has not been heard in the Senate. I have been to Dallas Crown and know the lady who made this video.

The horse butchers are evil...I used to ride at a barn that bought and rescued horses from the butchers to give them a second chance at life. Many turned out to be excellent riding horses, and one the rescued mares turned out to be pregnant. Again, the horse butchers are evil.
I agree that they are evil.They are not sappose to butcher pregnant mares but they do becuae the kill buyers get more money for the heavier horses.They cut the baby's out and slide them down the shoot.Nothing is waisted.HR503 somes to vote today and if it passes the chances the slaughter houses will close is almost 98% if President Bush doesn't veto it.But he has made it clear he is PRO SLAUGHTER!

Yes they do.We have three places in America that they slaughter them at.There are 2 in Texas and 1 here in Illinois.They slaughter the meat for human consumtion.The horses meat it considered a delicasy in Japan,Europe,Asia,and Belgium.All 3 plants here in the USA that kills horses for people to eat are owned by French and Belium Companies.The meat is shipped over seas.It is ellegal to slaughter horses here in America for human consumtion.

horses were never meant to be eaten. livestock like cows are bred for meat. horses have other jobs in the world. it's totally different.
