  • Nice fish! I bet it tasted great!

  • riffe never fails ..thats a very good fish

  • Now shoot something moving and how did you place that gut shot on a giant flounder? Nice fish anyway!

  • маму ебал твою

  • How many inches did that hali go?

  • I do not remember exactly, but roughly 45 inches. Once they get into t he 40 inch plus mark, they start putting on weigh pretty good. They start getting thick. I have caught several 40 plus pounders and my best being 47 lbs. and they are all thick!

  • Would love to see some info on your spearfishing posted to our new fishing community site, earth sports. That's a great looking fish. I'm sure its pretty exciting to fish this way!

  • i wish summer flounder got this big. insane catch man!

  • where do you buy spear guns?

  • You can buy spearguns in plenty of places but ost are sold in the states that border the ocean. You must be from an inland state. Go to EBAY and look under spearguns. That's a good start!

  • How big do the bands on the speargun have to be to take big fish like that?

  • Awesome fish man! I'm looking to upgrade to a riffe gun and I am not sure which one to get; the competitor series or the euro series. Not too sure what the differences are.

  • Awesome fish man! I'm new to the Santa Cruz area and I'm hoping to do some halibut spearing in the near future. two questions: 1) How deep was the dive for this fish? and 2) from your experience is there any spots you would recommend closer to SC for good spearing? halibut? lingcod? thanks.

  • Santa Cruz can be a very low visabiliy dive spot, but when the vis is good, it is an excellent place to spear fish. While I ususally hunt for lingcod in Carmel Bay, diving off the Santa Cruz lighthouse in 30 feet or deeper in the kepy area is excellent. Lots of fish there. Halibut diving is very tough in Santa Cruz and many divers prefer to dive off Monterey where the vis for be as good as 20 feet over sand. I have hunted for halibut off Capitola in 40 feet of water and had luck.

  • Nice shot! Were were you diving ? In the harbor?....Thanks thats my backyard and im new to diving....

  • how u get that speargun?

  • Riffe is a very common brand of speargun made in southern CA. Most dive stores carry their brand or you can buy Riffe products on the internet. This gun is their mid-range mid level speargun.

  • A "T" bar could work, but having loaded a lot of guns over the years, it is not needed but for the most powerful spearguns. I usuallly load most of guns using my hip, but if they are really tough, use the chest pad. Thanks for writing.

  • sometimes its not what you kill but what you kill it with that makes sport fun!...long range twang! i prefer the look of the usa style spearguns than the euro ones...i wonder whether a 't' bar on the front end and using your feet to brace the gun for reload would be better than the against the chest of the wetsuit method on the long stroke guns would be a better invention or way of getting more powerband potential...might make my own ha ha!

  • yeeeah...I'm a reaaal Maaan

  • For this type of diving, the power of a Euro 1 band gun is not enough. I usually use Euroguns for most of my diving (using just one mega band), but not when you really need horsepower. Not enough power means more fish will be lost due to inadequate spear penetration.

  • That is a decent fish!!! Got to love Riffe guns they are quality all the way!

  • Good way to get good fish

  • riffe is the way to go nice gun and fish
