why did you leave out the keyboard section in this dying soul, i know its about john but thats an amazing piece. i really like how you have a great taste in this stuff, thanks for not being a batio wannabe
I think the Razor's Edge solo should be number one instead of four... I cry every time I hear it.. And I felt like one of my family members died when I saw it live... There is so much emotion in it.
I think erotomania solo should be here, not the quintuplets shredding, or the one after the chromatic in 10/8 and 11/8 reprise, but the one that goes over the main riff, only stays on 5/4, instead of evry four tims switching to 9/8
*whew* Razor's Edge IS in there :P however, as much as I think it is DT's best few minutes, I'd have to give that to the orchestra more than Petrucci...
if this guy has putted at the 1st place the solo of "Pull me under" I'd killed myself and, I don't know why so many people think that "pull me under" is Dream theater's best song *-).
(Is Pull me under's solo?, i fell that i didn't hear that, of anyway, pull me under is not enough good to be in this ranking)
@cbachixo If this guy had put the solo of "Pull Me Under" at the 1st place I would have killed myself! I don´t understand why so many people think that "Pull Me Under" is Dream Theater´s best song
(Where is the solo of "Pull Me Under"? I don´t think i heard it! Pull me under is not good enough to be ranked here anway.
I Believe this is what cbachixo really meant. Read and learn!
@educabeiras I'm sure that would have been on the list but when he posted this, that album hadn't been released yet. I'm mostly mad that Sacrificed Sons wasn't on there. NO ONE EVER PUTS SACRIFICED SONS!!!!
great job dude! for me the best number one is hollow years at budokan, but u missed the end of in the name of god in the same budokan andlearning to live, btw petrucci has a great solos
@cfybbdrummer YES!!! Definitely my favorite DT solo! That or Razor's Edge. I actually did a cover for that solo on my youtube if you want to check it out. It's not perfect and I'll probably re post it, but you should check it out.
i can't possibly organize all of his best solos.... peruvian skies. hollow years live at budokan. in the name of god live at budokan. home. hell's kitchen. under a glass moon. the spirit carries on. stream of consciousness.... it's impossible to choose a top 10 without leaving out another 50 incredible solos.
i totally agree with scarred being in the top 5 but idk abput the rest... to me the best solos are in awake and falling into infinity... but their most genious songs are in the first 2 albums (or maybe what they wrote with kevin moore in the band..just my opinion lol)
You missed The Great Debate which is totally outstanding, The Ministry of Losts Souls in top 20, number 1 is Voices solo and the best song in the world is Octavarium.
i couldn't agree more for the top 10 (even if there's missing hell's kitchen solo imo) your top 33 is great...
But it's not hard to make a great jp solo top because everyone of his solos kick ass... his only solo that actually sucks (for john petrucci amazingness of course) is the roots of all evil one... (but he's still great)
i think that the person who did this, really did his homework. i couldnt be more agree with top 4 (the right solos at the right positions) but i got to say that i would have include on the top 10: Constant Motion solo and Afterlife solo from the Score dvd, really graeat solos
Hell yeah, Take the Time obviously deserves number 1. I mean, you should also see the video of him playing it, it's much better than just listening to the audio. Scarred and Erotomania solos are also some of the best solos of JP.
Stream of consciouss 10th... I mean that solo you had in there was probably 10th but why not the outro solo? it fucken eclipses that solo... It has the keyboard solo and then the guitar solo and its one of the best things i've ever heard... Other than that... others faves are lines in the sand, the spirit carries on, another day and hollow years live was good on budokan
top 5 for me in no particular order: lines in the sand, under a glass moon, the spirit carries on, hollow years (live at Bk version), afterlife ... but still no sure
