The Greeks made him drink hemlock because he didn't believe in the Greek gods. That's why they called him an "atheist" though, he wasn't by our modern definition. He did believe in God. So did Plato, and so did Aristotle.

Martin Luther in the 1500's saw how the Catholic church was saying how one can only get to heaven through works and they sold "indulgences" to people to buy souls out of purgatory or lessen their sentence (which isn't bibical). He translated the bible into the common language at the time so they everyone could read it, not just the members of the clergy. Read Ephesians 2:8-9.

There is not one shred of provable, scientific evidence for the existence of God. Socrates said that when people cease the worship of a god, then that god no longer exists. They made him drink the hemlock for that heresy. At least they didn't burn him at the stake. Followers of Jesus perfected that method. Say that "Jesus is Lord", Buster, or we'll roast you.

Catholics r christians but when htey burned people at the steack htey thought they were doing them good they thought they were clesing there body of evil. i am not saying what they done was right but things were different back then
