The perfect voice... You just made my life up, this song makes me peaceful... Pretty much lonely person, this song kinda discribes me. I love this song. :')
Man, this song is so upbeat all it needs is a banjo. Just kidding great old Tears for Fears song it was a much faster tempo song in 1983. brought back to life for the Johnny Darko movie
Adam Lambert sing this song in a deepest way, which make you feel every single phrase as is it. Its make you chills listen to him, he's amazing. Gary Jules sing like he's talking, so simple.
@Shimp707 Because, I saw a comment in the Adam Lambert video that "Gary Jules sing better than him" and I just wanted to confirm it and definitely it was not at all for me.
@Portillo75 Are you fucking serious? This song does not fit with "enthusiasm" It is a sad and depressing, cynical song. An enthusiastic and flashy showman like that drag queen Adam Lambert would just ruin the essence of this song. Go praise Adam Lambert instead of making such a stupid, offensive comment on this video.
@emplehod The lyrics do not fit with "dance". I don't care what the song was originally intended to make people do.. but the words alone don't pain the picture of a dance party to me.
@iceseekers I wasn't debating opinions. I was discussing a fact. As originally composed, it was a dance song. Besides, Adam Lambert can sing rings around this Jules guy.
@emplehod "adam lambert can sing rings around this jules guy" another opinion which I disagree with. Like i said, no point in further debate, I understand what the original song was supposed to be, but i think the original was a bad song with good lyrics.
@iceseekers were listing to gary jules not adam lambert if we wanted to here about him we would be listing to his music and not gary's. So please comment some where else where people care, thank you.
@iceseekers oh ya and adam lambert sounds like the old pedophile guy from family guy so next time you listen to him sing think about that, think you will see my point.
@aricars6263 In what medium has the performer taken credit for the song? Its a cover, and was used with permission from the original artists as part of a movie soundtrack by Gary Jules. Did Tears For Fears change their mind, and if so, why is that Jules' fault?
@Thehelllestat nigga gow is raw and if u hate this game ur honestly a homosexual faggot ass hippie who luvs cock since they hate seeing blood buuuuut u like gow rite?
this is a great cover if you think its not well that your choice but i see to meny people that just say bad things about these artists hard work and all the work that they put in to these shows they do for every one around the world to see and enjoy and all some people is say bad things about it so think of all there hard work before you speak
@jazzyfresh057 i think you mean he puts the most vocalizing into the song. it's not about how many different notes you can hit in one word. im not saying he did a bad job, but he kind of changed the song.
i love this, its, just, the melody is so haunting, his voice is emmitating horrow amusment and emontionless sounds. yet, it speaks to me, it really does.
Apparently Tears even prefers this version of the song. They sang it with a choir as the slower, more emotional version. They wrote a beautiful song and Gary sang it beautifully. Atleast it wasn't taken and turned into some background song for a rapper or anything...OH WAIT! It did....
all i listen too is rap and this song goes hard real raw emotions damn good singer ....yea i dont see how anyone with at least a little bit of a heart in them wouldnt like this
Like - dislike? your all fucking mad but what do I know... One little fucking world one the fucking man rant over dreams rant over sad, but the dreams in which im dieing take my soul. But yeah what does it matter one little - big. ? Issue Im real xxx God

I listened to the original version of this song by Tears for Fears, years and years ago. I loved it. It was the only version I'd ever heard until my daughter played this for me TONIGHT! This version is the artists INTERPRETATION! This is one of the most beautiful versions of a cover song I've ever heard. It might as well BE Gary Jules song! I disagree with anyone who gives it a thumbs down. They're obviously outnumbered anyway!
thumb up if these is sort of how your childhood was when you where a kid in school a teenager and a normal working person in daily life in society today
@Chentetorrez Actually, Roland Orzabal (Tears For Fears) was the original writer and performer of this song in 1982, Gary Jules and Michael Andrews did a slower ballad for the movie Donnie Darko in 2003, though i do prefer Gary over Roland very much
Somehow interesting but more than average when u know the original. Tears for Fears knew their shit. This sounds just like schoolwork. But hey some seems to like it. ;)
@xpledgeturnprestigex I enjoyed Gary Jules' version, but it's the lyrics that really stood out for me and no one can take that away from Tears for Fears. :)
@NeverDoubt1 I agree, the lyrics are what make the song amazing, I just kind of feel like the up-tempo ness of the tears for fears version doesn't really match with the lyrics, but maybe that's just because I heard the gary jules version first.
@xpledgeturnprestigex I heard the Gary Jules version first too actually. I think it's just the whole idea that's intriguing to me, of a song that's essentially been passed down through the decades. It's not many songs that can be successfully reinvented by future generations. :)
how can anyone say they like this song but dislike tears for fears when they written the lyrics ? i like this version but for me i prefer tff is those sounds abit of a drag after listens to tff version
as all top of the pop performances after i think it was 1986 they were all live
I like both the GJ and the TFF versions. The Gary Jules version is a bit more straightforward and the "obvious" route to go...the slow tempo highlights Roland's lyrics, whereas the Tears For Fears version played off the upbeat tempo clashing with the lyrics in much the way that all the angst, misery, and bullshit of high school (and lots of life after, for that matter) is set to a backdrop of false peppiness and pop music that dosn't stop for you or your feelings. Same thing, different POV.
adam lambert is original hes the best singer-genuine one-voice is out of this world. hate to say this. elvis presley and michael jackson and adam lambert are gifted; same zodiac sign animal three of the gifted indeed(music analysis plus physcjic)traits-personality reader. (sorry to tell you this secret about this artist talent)
Yer see, when Tears for Fears' original came out I was 16,and I loved the song, very memorable for all the right reasons, when this came out it was like a 21yr old echo, even coming out at the same time of year(Christmas) and as such I think both tracks are utterly brilliant, and that is not easy to achieve!
To Me, This Explained What Half Of The World Was To Me. Indeed, some children only had 'Happy Birthdays' has their happy times. It is a Sad And Beautifal Song.
When I First Heard This, It Struck Me Back To My Childhood. No Wii, No Playstation, No Xbox, No Nothing.
I have to disagree. Adam Lambert's version was too poppy and showy, he forgot the original meaning to the song. It's not supposed to be sung with the "I'm-so-freakin-skilled-with-my-voice" type of aesthetic.
The reason Gary Jules' version is so popular is because he sings it with the feeling, as if he's about to cry. He's solemn, low, and regretful, accentuating the song's meaning. Look beyond the sound and listen again ;),
@jadegiles25 I have to disagree as well. I truly think that Adam Lambert's version tries to abuse the true meaning of the song. It's suppose to be a depressing song, a darker song. I just don't think you can sing this song with incredible pitches and octaves in your voice and it still sound good.
No matter who sings this song, Gary Jules, Tear for Fears, Adam Lambert....whoever... the song rocks. It is so hauntingly beautiful. My personal favorite is Gary Jules's version. It was perfect for the movie Donnie Darko.
Tears for Fears is an amazing band, especially considering they wrote this song, but i feel like Gary Jules captured what tears for fears where going for better then they did
