he is a angel, at first he wanted dean to kill satan like the rest of the angels did and give up on sam, but when he spent time with the brothers he saw their point of view and changed his mind which pissed off the angels so now he works on his own to find God who the other angels believe is dead or gave up and hid some where thats pretty much what i gathered up with the few eps i saw with him in it.
