I'd be willing to bet that if GM would bring this body style back they'd sell more than they could produce....as long as they could keep the damned "green nuts" out of the factory. I have a 4spd 454 with 3.73 gears and I'm at 2500rpm at 60mph and 4krpm close to 100mph. Can I cruise at 3krpm around or is that to high rpm for cruisin highway? I have a 750 holley carb dbl pumper with a 555 cam lift but not sure on the compression, runs on premium, your thoughts please? THanks...

i used to have a camaro that ran 3krpm at 60mph..drove it on the highway more than on the street. never had a problem. at 100mph your are only runnin 4krpm...i'd say drive the hell out of it and enjoy the ride.

The 454 LS6 was rated 450 HP from GM and that was under rated most had M-21 OR M-22 rock crushers trans or turbo 400 with 4:10 gear in the rear end........

I have just gotten a 71 chevelle ss 454 and when I turn to start it all i get is a grinding sound like the starter thinks the car is already on and it grinds like if you were to turn the key while the engine running. So, I tried to roll the car in gear with clutch in, let the clutch out and might of been able to turn it loose. No luck. Any ideas?

hey tiny cat that would be cast iron block, cast heads 1st design closed chamber, 4.25 bore and 4.00 stroke, iron crank, solid lifter cam, forged pistons 11.9:1 102 cc, 11.3 107cc, 11.1 110cc, 10.2 117cc, 10.06 119 cc, 9.65 with 124 cc, mine was rated at 11.25:1, just so you know i figured the ratios for you but i used a .020 deck clearance with a .028 gasket to give correct distances, geez im not sure but i think i rebuilt one and if you go gen 2 you could use rectangular port heads ty

GM also built LS8 and LS9 as crate motors in the mid seventy's I also have LS5s and LS4s with oval ports and a L79 and you still have no video

The Heavy Chevy was a Badass car! The 454 put out more torque and hp than the hemi's! I Miss those days. I know the new cars are awesome but man, Nothing beats the sound and feel of rawness a muscle car in the 60's ad early 70's had.
