Panther had 2 great features: Speed, I mean it was very fast. I still like it. And its search feature, which was more complete than Spotlight. Too bad not many modern apps are running on it now. But still it was the best.
I have a powermac G$ single 1.25 processor that im running Leopard on it and im thinking of putting Panther on this machine... why? well dont get me wrong i love it but its kinda slow... i am going to be upgrading the processor to a dual one and a new graphics card for faster image randering but untill then ill just have panther on this bad boy once i get the new stuff then ill put Leopard back...
hey guys, im going to install panther on my grandads original imac. pretty well specced imac actually. 700mhz g3, 768 ram, 60 gb hdd. now do you think panther will be best or do you think it is worth investing in tiger? i would have to get that in cd form, but would it perform ok on this hardware? reply if you know. thanks
I'm pretty happy with it. My only real prob with the os is that newer software expects 10.4, so some of the latest versions of progs can't be run. Otherwise, it's a good os :)
firevault is so safe it would take a supercomputer a hundred and forty nine trillion, with a t, trillion years to crack it... XDDD

I wonder how many people would've recognised JJ Abrams back when this was released?
MrDavidHarrison 10 months ago
Wow it is so new that it was released in 2003 and this video was uploaded in 2008.
So new.
Not.
But I did like Panther at the time

Have you noticed that none of the customers were business users? i.e. Office Workers?
I wonder why - maybe apple should develop a business oriented mac OS?

I probably should do that, but right now I'm saving for a new imac and any extra cash I can put away is going toward a new machine.
