Be proud of who you are and your culture no matter what tribe you are or what race you are the great spirit gave us these traditions to follow and we must stick to them to be true to ourselves and to our ancestors who suffered greatly for us today.
we should embrace our own traditional culture and stop imitating the pow wows and the plains it is theirs and not ours. even though it may be for all tribes we should sick to our own ways and stop imitating other cultures that do not belong to us navajo people. I also see tee pees being built next to hogans. I do not understand that.
i dont think navajos should be doing plains tradtional dances. it does not belong to us. The plains have stories to back themselves up for those dances and they have a purpose for them. i see why northern tribes dislike navajos. where are own traditional dances? it gives me mixed emotions when i see navajos dancing plains.
Haha. That just threw me off guard completely! A grass dancer in the desert with no grass to flatten? Labled as a Navajo Dance when we aren't even from the plains to begin with? LoL. This is the funniest thing I've ever seen!
i dont agree with darkshinju92 that powwow dancing is somethign generic...this is a Lakota traditional dance...lots of navajos have taken up Lakota grass and fancy dancing for powwows (now called yarn & neon dancing)..what is wrong with our own cultures?..I'm Caddo and stick to our own ways..which is what my elders advise...anyone want to learn the turkey dance?
geez, you guys are mean. "my own people" ....you all sound like prejudice jerks. I mean hey, people come from all over the world to witness something like this, and you call it stupid? Pow wow dancing is the something ALL NATIVES can share equally, along with chantings songs, and flute playing are something we can do to proudly come together as a Nation.
How sad. that our own people have to subjugate our navajo culture to make the white mans experience and travels to our land more "authentic." It's not like we go to there country and ask them to do something for us in there own culture. what am i saying, they have no culture, so they have to come to our land to feed off of us.
wow something i've seen. DUMB. the whole thing doesn't work it all seems stupid the way he is dancing. NOT NAVAJO TRADITION. ITS ALL PLAINS INDIAN TRADITION. i know right? our own people too!!!.

Wow,...Navajo dance? Hardly. That form of dress and dance style does not exist in Navajo folk or ceremonial dances. The song, however, is Navajo.

ummm this isn't a navajo dance. the song is navajo but not the dance. interesting. my own people too. god!
