And when he closed his he felt Constance, So they just went along with it, i had sum sorta proud feeling after watching this on the box set thing i got lol ,
@loopywoopy666 : Well I saw the new story of the saga. But I really can't accept the changes in in it. This is filmed in 1994.
North and south belongs to me in the 80's. If they had create a world with contance and of course orry as their partners and maybe create new challenges for them....that would be much better.
That stuff looks like a compromise. Okay, the story of the novel is different to the film... but they should stick by the real film stuff..
I agree this should have been made in either 88 or 89. That was what John Jakes had in mind when he wrote Book 3. Patrick should have been at least in part if not the whole thing he said that Orry was his favorite role he ever did.
They added Cooper (Robert Wagner) yo make up for Patrick but the character was gone the first two parts so it made no since to just add him out of nowhere even though Robert did a good job acting wise imo. I like Part 3 but it was too late.
And when he closed his he felt Constance, So they just went along with it, i had sum sorta proud feeling after watching this on the box set thing i got lol
To the person who made the comment 2 months ago, I think you are looking at the picture the wrong way,it wasn't as much George rescued Madeline from two inches of water, but that he rescued her from the KKK. To me that was very noble and romantic, and I don't see it as George shaking up with his best friends widow, their friendship and grief over loosing their spouses brought them together, and their feelings later on turned to love.
I agree. George and Madeline didn't seek a romantic involvement. True, they felt ... something ... but for the most part they were just really good friends. Madeline was grateful he came all the way down to help out. Orry died earlier in the book than in the series ... and JJ made it clear that he wanted George w/Madeline at the end. It brings the families fully circle - George helps raise Little Orry ... and George's kids and Little Orry become 1 family. Orry'd be okay with that.
I now have all of N & S on DVD, and I have just watched book 3 in its entireity. I must admit, I had to get into it, but once I did, I began to understand everything. George and Madeline came together out of grief for their spouses, and then later, the grief turned to love. I am glad George gave Bent what was finally comming to him. I know that George & Constence are married in real life, but George and Madeline are hot in book 3.
I can easily see how the call N & S the GWTW of t.v. I have never seen book 3, and to be honest, I didn't even know there was one. George and Madeline are hot, but she is not Constence. What happened to Constence? George and Constence, and Stanley and Brett are actualy married.
i didnt like them together at all its a pity they didnt get patrick swayze to reprise his role as orry he probably read the script and and lost his lunch only it had lesley anne down in i wouldnt have bothered to watch it. george what a great friend shaking up with his best friends wife guess missery must love company
madeline was such a desparate woman, had to be rescued from drowning in two inches of water, always breathing heavy around men, dogging george before his wife died. can't stand her!
i must say i wish this book never came out! and i wish i never saw the mini series, its a horrid .... the uother seems like he was just trying to make money off the north and south name
I love this story but i dont conform that Madeline and George fell in love I Think that the death of Orry is very tragic and unjust and it is very implausible that she could forget Orry so soon!I l prefer the fist too books too
George was right. Bent had 2b stopped. If not, he'd not only kill Gus, but come back @ Madeline and do horrible things 2 her and kill her just to make George suffer b4 finally killin' him. No, Maddie, it's not just revenge for Orry & her rogue friend(Lee Horsley), but to protect his family.
I allways wondered! HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?

They kept to the book. In the book Orry died at the end of the war and not by Bent's hands, but Bent did kill Constance.

Bent kills Constance and uses her blood to smear his name "BENT" on the mirror in George's home.
