  • When is the sequel going to be sent to those of us who bought it during the P4a?

  • @thecanadianDJ I would also like to know that.

  • Anyone else hear that his father was obsessed with porn at first, not corn?

  • Wow. I've never seen a Vlogbrothers video with such shitty comments. I'm disappointed in the nerdfighters on this one.

  • a .45 hollow point doesn't have the energy to knock someone over. It would hurt, it would bleed, you could die, but as long as you were upwards of 100 lbs it's not going to knock you over by force alone

  • @Tcr810XP perhaps not but i think if you were shot by anything and dying you wouldn't stay standing for too long :)

  • I realty enjoined this post. I thought the depth of character you gave in a 3 minutes was great! I must say I'm very interested to here the rest of the story.

  • In the beginning, i thought he was saying porn.

  • MR. PRESIDENT AND I BOLTED OUT.

  • Comment removed

  • to sum up... corn

  • it took me until 1:32 to realize he was reading a book and not telling us a true story... fail.

  • My Dad had a dog named "Mr. President". He was the clumsiest dog ever to stumble the face of the earth. This, of course, was during the years Ford was in office.

  • Call me a nerd of lifetime "intellectual curiosity". That was excellent. Give yourself credit.

  • It's kind of bizarre to watch John talk about the cruelty of desire in a very dirge-y voice and then watch him shout and rant about the Project for Awesome. The transition is just... odd.

  • I want to read this novella, and I would just download it, but would that be stealing since I didn't donate?

  • @Royalemperorblue

No, John links it in another video explicitly saying if you didn't donate, then before you read you are obligated to post a thank you to the people who did. :)

  • I came to this video, at great expense to my schedule, to find some answers. I truly wish I hadn't, because of the fact that now I have one more thing that I want but will never own.

  • Comment removed

  • It's called zombiecorns and you can get it for free, It won't let me post hte link but goolge it.

  • I like how the subtitles just start paraphrasing about one minute in. (Though there was an error around 00:30 as well.)

  • @HarryPotterRocks the book is really really good and yes the in your pants works very well. DFTBA my friend

  • how can i read this it sounds intreging

  • oh my gosh this is so good u have to publish it. it is a crime agants us if u dont.

  • I have a feeling that people dislike these videos just for the sake of disliking them. Lame.

  • I want this novella. Please, John, publish it.

  • @sirdoctoroftardis12 You can download it for free off the internet. Just Google "Zombicorns." That is, if you don't mind reading off of an electronic device.

  • @VolunteerNerdfighter Thanks, man. I do prefer to read actual, physical books (and comics), but I can make an exception for John Green.

  • @VolunteerNerdfighter Wait, is it insensitive that my automatic expression of gratitude is "Thanks, MAN?"

I mean, statistically, someone viewing a Vlogbrothers video is most likely female. Unless its thumbnail is Giraffe Sex.

  • @sirdoctoroftardis12 lol. I also made the exception for John Green, and I'd say it was worth it. I am not a man, but I don't really care that it was your go-to expression of gratitude. I certainly won't go all giant squid of anger on you about it. ;)

  • i wanned this book

  • Man that was intriguing, and I don't normally partake in zombie crazes.

  • If that's bad I must read your "Real" books they must PWN... Epicly

  • @SemisonicNerdfighter Oh they do.

  • @HarrryPotterRocks I know I bought Paper Towns I must read An Abundance of Kathrines next

  • @SemisonicNerdfighter I really want to read An Abundance of Katherines, which is by the way a very good candidate for adding "in your pants" to the title.

  • @HarrryPotterRocks Haha, you sir are a fantastic nerdfighter.

  • @SemisonicNerdfighter Thank you, except that I am not a sir...

  • i wish he would publish it =[

  • i love zombie apocalypse stories, if a zombie apocalypse does occur, i have several plans ready for whatever situation im in when it happens.

  • i like this hand movements/gestures that randomly happen every now & then when he reads. idk, is that weird for me to like that? probably.

  • that sounds like it would be the freaking greatest book ever written no joke

  • I liked it XD We're our own worst critics - I often think my stuff sucks and thus will never be published.

My friends then proceed to hit me with the notebook in which my story is written and promptly scold me for such heinous claims.

So, John, *hits you with Mac* (sorry, you appeared to have written it on your laptop...notebooks are softer X3) it's GOOD and you're silly for thinking otherwise.

Now I must quest for this fabled novella.

  • how do you find it?!?!?

  • Worst person to be stuck during zommbie apocylipse is Rick Grimes from Walking Dead series because he will get you in trouble.

Who normal goes on horse in town full of zombies?WHO?

Best person to survive zombie apocylipse with is Tallahassee from Zombieland. He is just the guy If you want to survive.

  • @vekamaca Well considering he didn't even know the gravity of the situation, considering he was in a COMA when it happened, you can't blame him.

  • @vekamaca And I realize I said "considering" too many times... That's what I get for responding at 1 in the morning >_>

  • @vekamaca And he has Twinkies (wait, are Twinkies that delicious? Maybe not, but Tallahassee is a very good choice to me).

  • @vekamaca I know your comment is 6 months old, but I must say something because i love zombies so much. A horse would be the best mode of transportation than any internal combustion driven vehicle. The height advantage is prodigious, and you still have to feed a motorcycle or car, albeit with gas and not food or water. besides grass and water would be everywhere. DFTBA!

  • I would read that novella. I like books about apocalypse and zombies. :D

  • Comment removed

  • can anyone tell me what zombie apocalypse novella is? please.

  • @BrcCmplfan Yeah, no one cares... Except for the huundreds, if not thousands, of people who read it and enjoyed it....

  • i took a break from rereading Harry Potter to read Zombicorns. I LOVED IT!!!

  • If you like zombies, history, naked girls and muscle cars check out the book im writing entitled Red Century. you can also get the first chapter for free at redcenturystoreDOTcom

  • look in my pants (points rapidly) lol gotta love the captions

  • I think your idea of a Lincon park town house is different to my idea of a Linkin Park townhouse.

  • It sounds AMAZING. My own quibble is that it's Z'ed up, which makes people like me, who are Canadian go "Zedded up? Doesn't Zombified make more sense??"

  • I just finished reading it. Even though you keep saying how it isn't really well thought-through and written in a short time, I still think it is an awesome novella.

  • @lhc9494 where can i get it

  • @DaftAnime I can send it to you via email if you send me your email address. -Vivian

  • @animeotaku thanks vivian but i found it now :)

    thanks

  • That guy's father sounds insanely similar to my grandpa. Expect, you know, I didn't shoot my grandpa. He died of lung cancer, which he concocted after years of smoking. JUST SAY NO! :)

  • was there some place to read/buy this novella to read? I can't find it.

  • @ZKoftherebellion You can find it at the effyeahnerdfighters tumblr, under de faq section. It's free and legal. DFTBA!

  • I wasn't really paying attention to the title or anything so I was just listening to you talk about what I thought was your father then you said "It was a year ago today when I shot him in the chest with a hollow point caliber bullet" Then I'm like "HUH?!?! Ohhhh he's reading from a book...I'm stupid"

  • spoken like a true Hoosier! horray cornbelt

  • I plan on making all the nerd fighters turn on you; forcing you to not only finish this, but give us access to a copy.

  • I love hearing you read this and comparing it to the actual final version. It's amazing to see the transformations you make, what you edit out and edit in to make your writing better. As an aspiring writer I hope to one day have half the amazing self-editing skills that you have.

  • @thekit2katbar do you know where it's possible to read the final version? i can't seem to find it.

  • What? You tease us with what I think is the best beginning for a zombie book ever and then not publish it? No fair!

  • @deniseosborne62 He gave away in dowload form... just search google for Zombiecorn

  • I totally LOVE the novella! I think you should post it somewhere

  • oh by the way shotguns can't fire .45 cal bullets or bullets of any kind they fire shells filled with "slugs" or various kinds of pellets....i know, you dont care and you said it's filled with incosistancies but the fact that gun technology has been around since the mid 1100's and people are still incredibley unknowledgeable about it kind of bothers me. DFTBA

  • even in what you believe to be an utter (udder? idk...) piece of crap you still manage to say amazing things like this:

"I came to the conclusion a while ago that there is nothing

romantic or supernatural about loving someone: Love is the privilege

    of being responsible for another."

    You're awesome <3

  • @devonriley415 just FYI it is utter

you were right the first time

and yes John is awesome, but from your comment I am judging you to be a fellow nerdfighter. Therefore you are made of awesome yourself. Appreciate that fact =) DFTBA

  • I loved the novella. I downloaded it, and read it with my friends in my fanfiction/writing club, which I am head of. Why because I love, fiction and i'm a fan of stuff. I'm also an amatuer writer. And yes I know.. I'm going to name my cats: Mr. President and the other Rhett. (Rhett Butler that is...)

Just thought you'd like to know.

  • @super69able4u nope. read it. it's not.

  • John, your novella was NOT TERRIBLE!!!

It was amazing and I LOVED IT! Even when you're writing about weird crappy stuff, it's Awesome because you are that kind of writer (:

  • i read zombicorns, john it was not bad at all i loved it!!

  • I just finished reading it, John. And I must say that I loved it! It wasn't bad at all (although the twist at the end made me cry.) I am definitely going to buy more works from you. :)

  • What does Zeed up mean?

  • @GrymHood uuum... Z'd, as in becoming a zombie

  • @GrymHood To become a zombie.

  • FFF! could you at least give us a chapter of smthin!!11!

  • Advert: The Zombie Survival Guide...

  • am I just immature or did you mistake 'corn' for 'porn' at the beginning of the video?

  • am I just immature or did I think he was talking about porn at the beginning?

  • Please stop writing.

  • Sounds like somebody watched Food, Inc.

  • You shall not read! This....

  • Corn: Our biggest foe.

  • I'm curious if John saw "Food Inc." before he started writing this.

I was scared about the impact corn has on us after watching that movie.

  • where do i go to get the rest of the book??

i went to dfta.com but it linked my to a website that wanted me to downloud all this crap i dont need. someone plz help me.

  • Brilliant book, if he thinks this is bad then I can't wait to get 'Looking for Alaska' or one of his other books. If that was bad then his brilliant books will blow my mind.

  • I read all the way up to Chapter 4 before realizing that the main character is a girl. Wow.

  • @blahblahblahblha303 Same here, it was a shock to me. I think that's what John wanted us to think. Still, brilliant twist.

  • read it and it was GREAT!

  • I'm reading the beginning of the novella while listening to this video. :)

  • you are awesome! i need to read your books, asap! =]

  • I'm liking the dad's thinking.

    ...

    I'm from Nebraska.

  • I loved reading it, it was great!

  • Like that pic in the background

  • How is his basement so full of light??

  • Comment removed

  • @LeahMichelleRoars Is it really obvious? Because based on the shadows the light isnt coming from the center or the ceiling, leading to the conclusion that its natural light. Dumb person being an ass.

  • Comment removed

  • @FangsUpCobraFans Fine, I apologize I mistaken your comment and thought you were talking about the book where she is in a basement with a light.

  • @LeahMichelleRoars Fine? Are you grumpy about your own mistake?

  • @FangsUpCobraFans No? It was an easy mistake, why would I not think it was about the book when the entire video is about a book. Plus, I apologized, why still argue with me.

  • @LeahMichelleRoars Because you apologized the same way I "apologized" for hitting my brother when I was five. When you say something like "Fine, I apologize" its sounds a lot more aggressive than "Lol sorry whoops". As in youre not really sorry. And thats not even the point. You called my question dumb and acted like an arogant pompous fool for it. No question is foolish, but you are. Even if you were mistaken (which happens, i get it) you shouldn't act like a troll.

  • @FangsUpCobraFans I wasn't saying "Fine" in an aggressive sense, more like agreeing. In my head it was a dumb question but only for the way I mistook it, I understand what you meant now and I apologized for I did act like an ass about it but I did apologize and I do mean it. I'm sorry you mistook it but there's really no more reason to argue anymore.

  • @LeahMichelleRoars fine ur forgiven :D

  • John....please write a zombie apocalypse...something. Seriously this was too good.

  • I read the Zombie Apocalypse Novella and, despite what you say, I believe that it is great. It may never finish the points that it was trying to make, but that just means that it, like Mia, doesn't know exactly where it's headed. And for some reason that doens't bother me.

  • @jaytummy where can i read it

  • @DaftAnime If you google 'John Green Zombie Novella Download' just click on the first link and it's there.

  • @jaytummy thanks

  • God, it's been months since I've read Zombicorns, but I still remember that amazing last line. You always know the perfect way to end a story.

  • The book is up on the effyeahnerdfighters tumblr as a downloadable .pdf and .doc for those who donated but have yet to receive their copies or for those who didn't/couldn't donate but still would like to read it. If you can donate, I highly encourage you to :)

    DFTBA

  • John, you should/ve include/ed a part about a necrophiliac falling for a new zombie where they both die.

  • I still haven't gotten my copy... :(

  • If Nerdfighters can get Looking For Alaska published in other countries, we could certainly get John Green to publish this. Or at least post it. C'mon, sir. For me. My name is Stinky Burger. Is that not enough?

  • you see, if i didn't have to use paypal( i don't have a paypal, or for that matter a credit card) i would have donated, but i don't.

  • Where can you find this online????

  • I can't tel you how much I want you to publish the Zombie Novel this year! You've got to be one of the greatest writers of the 21st century! PUBLISH! PUBLISH! PUBLISH!

Or, atleast post it in a blog somewhere and link us.

    Please.

  • I LOVE THIS ALOT

  • YOU DO NOT KNOW how much I FREAKING LOVE zombie apocalypse novels, Green. YOU DON'T KNOW. I don't care if that's the only good page. Z books are so much FUN! And I love your terminology! Getting 'Z'ed up' (like a normal person!!!) and 'completing him.' I bought a kindle and I'm filling it with zombie books... And I'm adding this to my list.

  • Comment removed

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN STILL GET A COPY?! I desperately want to finish this!

  • I donated $25 to HPAssociation through the P4A page to get the novella and I never got the email. What gives?

  • @IDontUsePicks He hasn't finished writing it yet...I think.

  • @IDontUsePicks This happened to me too! It's weird though, because I have my paypal receipt and everything that says I've donated the $25.

  • @DeceptiveCadences I know! I want my novella!!!

  • @IDontUsePicks So an awesome Nerdfighter on twitter forwarded me the email with the novella. I can do the same for you, if you like. Just message me your email and I'll forward it to you.

  • @DeceptiveCadences Thank you!

  • @IDontUsePicks No problem!

  • @IDontUsePicks I have also donated and have never gotten the novella...

  • :l I missed project for awesome and didn't get to enter, which made me sad, but now that a read that comment it makes me even more sad because I could have gotten at least a electronic copy. ._. Could an electronic copy be at least sol on dftba website? That would be nice..

  • @LeahMichelleRoars right now you can get it by donating to the harry potter alliance see the live feed if its still going when you see the link on the tempary vid

  • John, If you never publish this my life will never be complete. Don't not complete my life John. That's not very nice at all.

  • Oh. My. God. Finally a book I actually WANT to read, and it's NOT going to be published?!

  • @FangsUpCobraFans Oh the irony.

  • O_O will totally read this. that is hilarious.

btw i got looking for alaska and paper town from the library. i also work at the library. yeah.

  • Is this perchance a not so subtle reference to The Omnivore's Dilemma?

  • how do you become an official nerd fighter

  • @blackzabbathfan watch the How to be a nerdfighter: a vlogbrothers faq on their and DFTBA

  • @SeverusSnapeOrSev thank you, i already did before you told me to but thanks anyway

  • Nerds are like corn

    they spread nerdfighteria

    which creates more nerds.

  • If they're gonna make a movie of the novel, can you convince Shane Dawson to be in it? :)

  • Omg... Noooo I'm to late to win the zombie apocalypse novelle :'(.... Why.... Why!!!!

  • @TorinoAndGriffith me too :( :( :(

  • Page*

  • WTF are you talking about that was an awesome first story

  • Had no Internet during P4A! (Stuck in airports and stuff...) Will you be giving out e-copies for next year's p4a too?

  • i just finished Will Grayson Will Grayson today and first off, i thought it was a great book and now i'm starting Paper Towns. i think it's kind of funny because i read this book in your voice( i also read all the chapters that uses caps in WGWG in your voice. i dont know. something told me you wrote those chapters instead of David Levithan) ^_^

  • I WANT this. ;__;

  • i was reading something on 6 monopolies that secretly control the world and one of them was corn :) i happened to be reading this when i found this video and stopped reading for a second :)

  • Worse books have gotten published, John.

  • why must i always fall in infatuation with john green narrators ^_^

  • LAME! GIVE US MORE! Please

  • John, I love to hear you read.

How about audio downloads of you reading your books?

    Yes please :)

  • Not being able to read this = NOT FAIR! *sobs*

I don't particularly care if it's amazing, (which I'm sure it is), but in my opinion, all books having anything to do with zombies are awesome. So please, PLEASE let Nerdfighters read your Zombie Novella.

    DFTBA.

  • You need to put that somewhere on the interwebz! I don't care if it's $20 I'll pay for it. Even that small excerpt you read sounded amazing! Please put it somewhere so that I may read it.

  • I cannot believe I missed the raffle for this. I guess it wouldn't have mattered in the first place. A week before the raffle my Mother got put in the the ICU, and being the poor person I am, got wiped out after all the bills.

  • Have you ever considered reading sections of your books to Nerdfighters in order to raise interest? Not sure the legal views on that one, but here's your free idea for the day.

  • i've listened to this 12 times and im still confused about what z-ed up means.. HELP!

  • @alexisball1 z zombied
