It's no secret information or anything. It's just basic physics/electronics. It can be made even simpler than this, too, although range is obviously very limited. Chip-friers can be built from a regular old school camera flash, for example.

If you know about induction coupling, then you should easily figure out that injecting high voltage, high current, radio frequency energy into a primary coil makes anything around it act as a secondary coil, making any weak electronics crash or even break.
