  • hard to believe a company like this was brought to its knees from jap companies like honda and toyota.... how sad.

  • @mmmmhonda not just the Japanese competition, but also U.S. federal mandates such as energy absorbing bumpers, increased gas mileage requirements along with Arab oil embargos and rising gas prices in the 70s and so on. Also Detroit's Big 3 had to deal with labor unions that had generous pensions for factory workers and it made it hard for the Big 3 to sustain it when sales fell. A combination of factors that could fill a book; it wasn't just Japanese competition. Thanks for the comment..
