  • Wonderful, much more creative than those metal players who just want to play as low as possible.

  • pretty smooth but i'd work on that right hand technique a little

charlie hunter is a prime example

  • @waretafai I say work on your nitpicking a little. This guy is good! He's got it down

  • Tosin who? lol jk...this is brilliantly written and performed music!

  • I love this guy! So refreshing. I'm a fingerstylist and man watching Jason is so inspiring! Keep it up Jason, we love your work out here. Any plans for a how to DVD or do you already have one out? Peace. : )

  • I just saw him in the subway; I sat and listened.

  • @HappyPterodactyl So did I, it was awesome. (except too much noise from subway and delay announcements....)

  • Frankly, its crazy how good you are. I can't imagine learning two instruments like you had to do, but God damn you are so good at those songs. Kudos man and keep up the good work.

  • Really fucking impressive. I can't say I've ever seen anything much like it. But you are uniquely good at this. Please keep it up and bravo.

  • =D! Just "=D"! This was lovely. Favorited it, gonna listen to it some lot more from now on.

  • yeah!

  • Is that a self-made instrument? If not, who did you have build it/where did you find it?

    It's cool.

Less visually 'metal' than the Agiles. I'm not overly concerned with the æsthetics of a tool, but I am concerned.

  • I really like it.

  • great tempo and musicality!

  • you are really REALLY good

  • Wow. Incredible playing! My hands hurt just looking at that! 6 strings are a challenge for me, but 8?? No more guitar for me!

  • @monkymonk6 Surely you're exaggerating? It's not any 'harder' to play, in fact, it's easier (if you play touchstyle, that is). More range, more freedom...

  • great guy. saw him play today and bought one of his CD's. worth every cent!

his summertime version is beautiful, would love to hear it again, jason! maybe in a video? hehe : )

  • Thank you for not doing palm-muted death chugs continuously...

  • My mind has been blown, impeccable. All the more reason for me to pick up an 8.

  • I do believe I've seen and talked to you briefly at Bloor and Yonge. I didn't get your name, but I've been thinking nonstop about getting two more strings. Between you and Tosin Abasi I'm gonna have some shedding to do!

  • Nice. It's great to hear some Lenny B style stuff.

  • i love your guitar face this is very impressive i can honestly say you've just become my favorite jazz musician XD

  • beautiful.

  • this guy is getting the fuck DOWN. my god the boogie is killing me!

  • Wow, you can play an 8 string without a pick and without distortion? What a great player, very nice.

  • Awesome !

  • what?!

  • lol I have a hard enough time playing jazz the normal way and he does the bass, comping, melody, and solo all by himself, what a talent!

  • Jason!!!

What happened to softly as a morning sunrise?!?

    That was my favorite!!!

  • very cool piece, im learning it, too bad clifford did not write more pieces like that, he died so young with bud powell´s brother in a car accident :(

  • I like how he actually looks like he's enjoying himself instead of just standing there with a blank look.

  • Love the little chord shift at 1:54

Love the tone, and rich playing on an 8 stringer!!

  • cover some after the burial

  • lol

  • hhahahahahahhaha

  • super !

  • Nice. Who makes that guitar?

  • maestro

  • behindert ?

  • sweet Clifford Brown and Max Roach tune.

love that song from study in brown. easily one of my favorite albums!

    Great Job man! inspirational

  • instant subscribe dude! way to go!!!! salute!

  • I'm lovin it and I agree with Whizzblitz down there a little. After a few seconds you knew it was going to deserve a 5!

  • Pretty astounding.

  • Very impressive. Being a big Lenny Breau fan I was amazed to hear Jason as I was getting off the Subway one day. I had to tell him how much I enjoyed his playing when he finished the tune, and he was most gracious and personable.

He certainly deserves a better gig!

  • aplausos desde mexico

  • Bravo !!

  • brilliant stuff! sounds like a double bass AND a guitar :P

  • is that a warr guitar? thanks. =)

  • Warr guitars have 12 strings, with both full 6 string bass and 6 string guitar tonality. This is just an 8 string guitar, tuned F# B E A D G B E

  • That's not right ;)

    tunning is EAD-ADGBE

    hope it helps ;)

  • thats weird, ive never heard of that tuning before. I have an ibanez rg 8 string, and it came in the tuning i suggested. perhaps jazz players use a different tuning? the metal bands i hear all use F# as well.

  • that's because this a bass and a guitar in one!

  • Very Nice!

  • All i had to do is listen for the first 3-4 seconds and I was certain to give this guy a five. Respect, Mr. Crawford!

  • nice!!!

  • now play some meshuggah haha, just kidding awesome dude, great approach, but, more importantly, nice tune

  • awesome piece of music !!!!!! hey could u kindly tab it out for us??? ;) Thanks

  • That is incredible playing, and a great song! It sounded like you're playing the bass line too?!, but some of the frequencies are too low for these laptop speakers. That is amazing!

  • Fucking HOT! and i thought 6 strings was a bitch...

  • nice dude! keep up the good work!

  • is that like a normal guitar with two bass strings?

  • More or less...yeah.

  • muy bien tio...conoces el camino XD ....walking bass perfect!

  • just GREAT!!! keep it that way!

  • great chops man, I'm working on my piano style guitar and its nice to find inspiration besides Lenny Breau, keep it up.

  • Great tune, great player, great guitar!!!

  • ...wow.

  • very beautiful!

    exxelent work

  • This was an amazing song!!! 7*!

  • Great job!

Now to learn to play midi drums with your feet. :P

  • The world needs to know how good you are! That's AWESOME!!!

  • Fantastic! Love that chord melody! Breau is in there somewhere, different voice, similar virtuosity.

  • wow! love that chord melody! This guy is great! Definitely hear some Breau influence in there somewhere.

  • nice stuff jason

i play similar on my 9 string...less bass more upper stuff...but check it out

michael coppola flour in the floor or tiger rag

  • very nice someone that actually uses 8strings as they should

  • also love the way this comes up next to Rusty Cooley on 8 string threads! now theres two different approaches to guitar..

  • Ok! Now I know what I have to get for my hubby!!! Totally awesome, LOVE the sound!

  • Holy shit.

I don't know even know what else to say.

    Holy shit.

  • amazing

  • i have a boner now.

  • awesome dude :] i love clifford brown's stuff and you did and awesome job!

  • pure talent

  • its the coolest thing i ever did see

  • Holy shit that was good. Never even heard of an 8-string guitar with those bass strings like that. That was amazing.

  • Wish I could've said it as good as coldtaxer did!

  • Holy shit... what co-ordination. That's amazing.

  • Killer! 5 stars from me!

  • i love jazz guitar and follow many guitarists in that gere, but who the fuck are you i never heard of you?id love to know how the fuck you do that man, your one of the most amazing guitarist ive ever seen ya shithead.lol wish i couod do that..bet you score heaps of pussy with playing thast shit.

  • Lenny Breau would be proud.

  • hayop! youre awesome.

  • Yeah man! So refreshing to hear real swing chord melody. The sea of "polite" harmonics-laden tunes is swelling to excessive porportions. Kind of makes me weep for the conservatism of 6 string culture and it's industry's excesses.

  • Hey jason its yousef from dundas station haha, i love this song man and thanks for the cd it rocks, i look forward to some more vids they are awesome!.

  • why does he say one, two, at the beginning if he's alone?

  • still great.

  • lol your not a musician are you?

  • it's the average audience for a jazz musician..there ain't no justice. Still at least he takes home the bass players cut too!

  • whatever works, i'm pretty sure it worked.

  • I could practice for a million years and I still couldn't play like this.. Amazing

  • that's what i call future! great

  • Thats wonderful. If you had a drummer, I would confuse you for a trio if I didn't see it with my own two eyes. I wished you lived around me so I could hire you.

  • KICKASS!!!luv the music man,the bass 8th string thing is really cool too,luv it !!

  • I honestly could say that I like your playing even better than Charlie Hunter

  • Hi Jason. Good to see that you still have your chops. Earth Grounds sends you all the best. Cheers. Ed H. PS My daughter is now playing thanks to your inspiration.

  • Love your style and technique!!!

  • great! Nice bass line!!

  • Great. Very emotional.

  • Excellent!

  • very very nice work. Keep it up.

  • HOLLY COW!! that is awesome. I never comment on anything here really, but i just have to say, I am a HUGE fan of you now. Hopefully you will check out some of my stuff on here and dig it. Keep on rockin man...

    Erick

  • did a double take when I saw your guitar. your gonna put some poor bass player out of work

  • Very nice!!

I´m a truly fan of 8-string guitarrists since I first saw Charlie Hunter some years ago. And you´re as good as him.

    Keep on going!

  • Great stuff!
