No, if you look at the first turn out, its set wrong. As for the second, well that was me cjanging the turnout when Paul was not looking. He was not watching his engine.
yea but was it him who changed the first switch? it looks like someone switched it, if they did then it was in the right position beforehand and they switched it into the wrong one. as for the second, serves him right for not watching his train lol
Well, as club members, we are suppose to align the turnouts back to the mainline after going by. Still you are responsible to making the way clear. Sometimes I like to change al lthe turnouts just to see if people are watching but only if they are facing the points. Derailments are not nice.
These switches are spring loaded, they are held against the rail with constant pressure, so it isnt as simple as the train runs over it and it moves in the right direction.
I was visiting the St. Thomas Elgin Model Railway club, and brought my camera with my. Unfortunatly I had no rolling stock to place the camera in. I borrowed a gondola from the club and it was not the best car to be using. Hey, we had fun and I got to sho the video off. Now I'm colling as many videos as I can from club layouts I visit. Was the collision @ 01:48 another 'should have been watching the train' moment?
sort187 4 years ago
Actuallly, another train member moved the turnout. But, yes, he should have been watching.

i have the good type of switches where if you set the wrong way it wont run over it will just switch that one way and then go back
dawkinsdude2019 4 years ago
arent the switches romote control? bc at at 1:30 a big hand switches them
pimposcar1000 4 years ago
Yes, boys at the club like to play around. Nothing like switching some before a train, when the engineer is not watching.

Sixteen seconds into the video, you see Paul operating his locomotive, and yes, not watching the turn out.

i do that with my model trains and they dont derail
trainxing100 4 years ago
You do what, with your trains? Mis-aligning a tournout usually cuases a problem.
dcalcutt 4 years ago
i set the switch the wrong way when they leave the siding and they dont derail they just move the switch
trainxing100 4 years ago
