Duke University 1981 Parapsychology Laboratory. Headed by Dr. Brier on Precognitive stimuli. EEG tests proving precognitive response in even average brains. The profound went off the chart with 30-60htz extending past Beta waves. This is the standard classification for genius. But thewy found something else that was in relation to the profound. Multiple states of conscious & an ever present awareness of Delta brainwaves in an awake state. Dean Raiden did Telepathy probability tests.Chech it out
Hi! Yes, I'm aware of Dean Radin. I didn't really look into Bob Brier's work too much. I focused on the years that the lab was part of Duke U. and he was involved in the later years, not that this work wasn't worthy!
I am excited for this book! Please let me know where i can attain it. I myself am interested in the true form of this field (not the charlatans that pass them off as parapsychologists). Thank you.
I was a psych (mature) student who was interested in the work of Daryl Bem on precognition. We worked together to test for precognition of face expressions. I ran a study for my dissertation and got really good statistically significant results. As Dean Radin puts it - something is going on!
Hi! I was looking at some of Bem's work when I was researching my book, but at the moment I can't remember what I was looking at. In any case, yes, I agree!
Interesting.. You can read peoples energy? If someone is negative you get a vibe form them. If someone is bubbly you feel happy. I went to my public library, and gave off different energies to people who weren't aware of my presence(casually walking by). When i made myself angry i noticed people became ancy(Whistling etc). When i relaxed they acted calm. If they were able to feel my vibe, perhaps that can give credibility to those who claim they feel a presence in a haunted place.
My experiment was like this: I show you pictures of two people and ask you to choose the one you prefer. The computer then randomly chooses on of those pics and flashes it several times. The chances of choosing correctly should be 50/50. I found for pictures of fear expression, the success rate was nearer 60% over hundreds of trials. Men are better than women at this!
are you implying that the computer generated the images over and over quickly and I would have to say stop, and the image it stopped on was more commonly a person with fear as a facial expression?
I'm in the process of making a video that explains how it works. The software is very sophisticated but the idea is that in the future (or the next few seconds), the computer will flash a random picture several times. The future exposures to that image will influence your behavior right now, so, of the two pictures the computer shows you now, you are more likely to choose the one that will be flashed to you after you have made the decision - randomly chosen by the computer! Precognition.
I would love to see that. One thing i wonder about in terms of paranormal activity is that these things tend to happen in areas where high e.m.f.s are found. It has been documented that there are extensive amounts of e.m.f. in the Bermuda triangle. Could it be possible that Einsteins field theory could take part in things appearing out of no where. There are numerous conspiracies that the us gov have technology to cloak large crafts etc. Is it possible to go in and out of time fields.
On another occasion, I had a cat that died a couple of months ago.. I then tried to do what i mentioned below... I intentionally in my "trance" state of mind asked if my cat was around i would like to hear some type of a sign of presence. I know it sounds silly being it is a cat. However, lIterally a second after that, I heard the voice of a cat outside my room..I just found that interesting..
I know all about the love one has for a pet, so I wouldn't say it was silly. In fact, whenever I come across someone who doesn't understand I forever see them as limited.
One thing i find quite interesting is i personally believe in being able to predict things and communication of the mind. I am in no way delusional by the way for I am currently a psych student going M.D. At sleep i intentionally fall into sleep then wake up, then repeat to put my mind into a trance state. I then notice I am able to literally predict what is going to be said while my television plays in the background.
The existence of paranormal phenomena would not by itself refute materialism b/c it would say nothing about the mechanism. There could be an entirely materialistic explanation for things like telepathy if it existed (for example, a person might correctly guess the figure on the back of a Zener card b/c they are unconsciously picking up clues from the experimenter (unconscious facial gestures, etc.)).
If there were a materialistic basis for these phenomena, that would be something interesting and worthwhile to study, but I suspect these phenomena are not real since the methodology of these early parapsychologists was flawed, their results have not been reproduced, and it is not an active field of study today.
The Duke scientists began their experiments, found the weakness and responded accordingly. The subject and tester were separated by screens or were in different rooms. In the end the experiments were double-blind, and still produced statistically significant results. Btwn 1934 & 1939 alone, 33 replication experiments were conducted at laboratories other than Duke. 20 had statistically significant results. Experiments continue today. A study has been conducted at Harvard since at least 2004.
I agree that it does not itself refute materialism. Also, many physicists today say that telepathy does not violate the laws of science as we know them today, and therefore telepathy is at least theoretically possible. So I also agree that explanations may one day be found, but not the one you suggest, as I explain below. The subject and the experimenter were separated in the Duke experiments.
Interesting! The weakness of religion is that it cannot successfully refute the position in the world of science that man is a wholly physical being. If religion could refute this stance of materialism it would be in a firmer, sounder position, because it stands on the assumption that there is something spiritual or extraphysical about man. PSI establishes this in the experimental evidence of ESP and other abilities by showing that there is something man can do which extends beyond space-time.
I transcribed the above quote made by Rhine in Stacy Horn's video about her fascinating new book--but ran out of space to attribute it to him. Rhine's quote is everything after the word "interesting."

Wow thats interesting. I found an article that explains the procedure involving Dean Radin. I was never aware of this.

BTW - do you have any contact with the Rhine Centre? My old supervisor is working there I think.

I totally believe there are unexplainable things out there. It is better to have an open mind on things we cannot explain.
in my first comment i meant to say "You know how you could read peoples energy".

You should find a way to study your trance states!

funny you say that.. i have been trying lately but i have been so busy with school, i don't fall into my "trance" state i just fall asleep :)
