Most of these airplanes are designed with two 15hp 2 cycle engines. 21hp would definitely do it. You might check the specs on the airframe, twin 21's might be too much.
since this plane isnt alowed in north america what other very small planes are alowed in north america please tell me some, my dad thinks this hobby would be great for me
It *is* allowed in north america. According to wikipedia there are about 30 of them in flying condition. Since the designer is stingey about giving out the plans, somebody ought to retro-engineer it an publish them.
It is allowed in north america. Plus... There is a Yahoo group named "cricridrawings" which is dedicated to all those who are interested in building a MC-15 "Cricri". There you will found plans, manuals, technical contents, engines data, manufacture tips and technical data. Just search "cricridrawings" on google and join up to the group to start to build your own Cri-Cri.
I had to move one of these aircraft in a guy's garage to set up a table saw (installing hardwood floors). I was able to lift the thing without a problem -wings folded. The next day I came prepared with a camera. VERY COOL...
I can't believe some don't think this is real. I have seen these planes fly...they ARE real. They have been around since the 70's. People should do a little research before the cry "fake". Just my 2 cents.
I saw the first Cri-Cri fly at Oshkosh many years ago. The designer did a full on aerobatic show. Inverted, one engine flybys. And to top it off dead stick no power landings. He flew it everyday for the full EAA Fly In. Its built with what is called vacuum bag adhesive techniques. Basically using suction to promote good glue adhesion of the wing coverings.
thanks for your kind response. while i wouldn't dispute the word of your relative, that's still not evidence. I can reserve judgment on the plane itself, but my criticism of the video stands. Like other similar clips, it omits the parts one would consider conclusive evidence, and i see no reason for this except deception.
of course i could be wrong, like anyone. anything supported by sufficient evidence must be true, but i'm still waiting to see the proof.
I just watched the clip from the New Zealand Airshow that you cut your #2 from. Again, critical elements are not shown. Interestingly, starting at 00:19, the little plane rolls past REAL trucks and planes looming HUGE in the background. Shouldn't have shown them!! Wait, you didn't-they're only in the full clip. (see "Cri-Cri Plane-New Zealand Airshow") Can anyone show us a complete landing, after which the pilot climbs out? I didn't think so.
Me too I was a not believer, see in the original "world's smallest twin engine airplane" of meetmrglock and look for pagani25, my old nick and then for mymameisbubu, my new one.
I have changed my opinion about the cricri plane after to have spoken with the cousin of my mother that is a fan of aviation.
He goes to all the aershows, in France and Switzerland and assures to have seen many cricri fling under his own eyes.
Go to "Cri Cri For Sceptic People" posted on You Tube by mynameisbubu and you'll have your proof.
The video shows the pilot taking off(you can see him in the cockpit), and there is more footage of the pilot flying the Cri Cri through the air(with the pilot clearly visible) thanks to another pilot who is up there with his own plane filming the Cri Cri.
The "Cri Cri Plane For Sceptic People" posting on You Tube is meant for Transition6, and anybody else who is skeptical of this amazing machine.
I'm a private pilot, so I have some understanding of aerodynamics, engine performance, weight and balance, and so on and so forth.
When you learn about aviation (which I recommend you to do Transition6, as well as everybody else), you will learn that mankind has created interesting aircraft throughtout the century plus years of powered flight.
OK, the craft's already rolling when the clip begins. Then we see GI Joe propped up under the canopy. It takes off, like any common RC plane. No way to judge size from what is shown. I'm commenting on the video, not the plane. If this plane can perform as claimed, why don't they show a complete takeoff or a complete landing? Because they can't. As with the 9-11 Pentagon videos we can't see, we'll just have to take their word for it!!!
So can I log multi engine time with this beast? I need the hours.
