@MsLimy0 My best advice is to just...push through it. Yea, it's the worst pain in the world but it will be gone once you're all the way down hah. You can try putting a pillow under your crotch to ease the pain a little.

Hi! I found your blog whilst looking for advice on chest stands. Anyway, I'm just beginning to train in contortion - I can't do side or straddle splits yet! I'm really close with the side split, about 1 inch from the floor and I feel like I don't know how to progress from there. Any advice for straddle split as well? I can only get to about a 60 degree angle and it's really tense at the back of the knees when I lean forward...??
@makrenee Hi :) Pretty much with any stretch, the only way you're going to get anywhere is with repetition and holding the stretch for as long as you can. It hurts at your knees because a lot of tendons connect there and they aren't used to being stretched like that..in other words it's normal to feel, just don't over-do it. Make sure you aren't leaning too far forward or too far back in a straddle to get the right stretch.
@gabstract88 Ooof! I think I've been training for straddle the wrong way? I usually sit on my bum in straddle against a wall to help push my legs into a wider angle and just lean forward and hang out until I feel ready to get out. I've seen other people train going from standing and sliding into straddle and propping themselves up with the hands and arms. Is that the right way to do it?
@Raeshaun It depends on the stretch; I try to stay in the splits for like a minute or so..I can stay in normal splits longer now, but on say oversplits I try to go as far as I can, hold that for..I dunno 5-10 seconds, relax for a few seconds, go back down as far as I can...I did it in the video

@gabstract88 Sounds like a codec-problem to me. You'll need the same codec for "grabbing"/recoding the vid as for decoding/viewing. What player (and platform) do you use for viewing?
