According to Chris Hayes, Huey stumbled into the tour bus after a gig in Cleveland, and sang the original lyric off the top of his head... "The Heart of rock 'n roll is in Cleveland..." The other bandmembers said "Yeah great... work on it."

What's this assclown doin' now? Sellin' underwear down at the mall? Anyone that ever bought his music should be deported (after being pistol-whipped).
I bought all his albums, come and "pistol whip" me if you can, boy... lol and beat the shit out of yourself since you looked the song up and listened to it. (and you know you did, probably try to sing it but you can't and now ur crying and angry)
Well the only other singer in the 80s this big was Michael Jackson so I'd say Huey is doing pretty damn good since he's still alive. And the reason you don't see Huey anymore is he made so much money he dosen't have to work another day of his life. Huey called it quits when he was still on top.
A great song for having a good time. Is it an all time classic ...no, but whoever thinks this is anywhere near one of the worst just hasn't been listening. There are hundreds of songs produced that have no beat, crappy lyrics, and performed by people with little or no talent. Huey just likes to have fun and his music reflects that. No crying in your beer or social commentary here. Nice for a change.
Less a song than a craven attempt to curry favor from drunken arena crowds trained to roar on cue when they hear their citys name mentioned. Coming off more like one of your dads golf buddies than a rock star, Lewis rattles off a list of American cities in a monotone so bland that subbing in Bakersfield for San Antone would drive the fans wild, and hopefully distract them from the fact that the bar bandcaliber music suuuuucked.
Huey Lewis knows what R n' R is all about: Having fun! And they made sure all fans did...I've seen them twice and let me tell you, they love their fans and they show it. Roll on, Huey!

@Connerisawesome Yeah, I totally remember reading that. #1 was Jefferson Starship's "We Built This City." Anyway, "The Heart Of Rock And Roll" had no business being on that list. Really, Blender. @Connerisawesome The folks at Blender are a bunch of faux-hipster clueless idiots. Yeah, the video is dated, but how could it not be? It's almost 30 years old! However, the song is not dated, it's as hot as ever, and always will be a great rock 'n roll song by a great rock 'n roll group.

bands like huey lewis, the outfeild, men at work all never did get the credit they should have perhaps it was because back then there were tons of good bands and not just the few they force us to listen to on radio today
that is definitely true...they were great in their time and they are great now. their tunes are catchy and they make ya wanna dance! its too bad they are not recognized more!! great vid.....thanks!
Huey Lewis & The News has to be one of the most underrated and under appreciated rock bands that has come out. Their songs were always catchy and had great sound to them but you notice nobody ever puts them high on a list of great bands
hey copo. i think they were underrated because of the jersey mob muscling radio stations across this great nation to play that underbit fella bruce springsteen. imo.
The album that song came from was the first cassette tape I ever had. And I STILL have it to this day! One of my fav albums of all time. I like how they give a holler to Detroit.....MOTA CITAAIIIIIIII !!!
Same here . . . Huey is a few years before my time (I was born in 1988-1989) but we used to love listening to the Sports cassette when me and my older sister were little. I used to call this song the "buh-boo" song because of the heartbeat. I still have the Sports tape (and we have FORE as well) and I pop it in sometimes but the sound isn't that great :(
So just because someone has tattoos and or piercings, makes them non-classy? Hmmm...where I come from, judging someone solely on their appearance is pretty trashy. Ever heard of Nikki Sixx? That man is a class act...and SMART and TALENTED. I'm a huge Huey fan and miss him and the boys but come on...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm not quite sure if you mean subliminal messaging or are just bitching about some radio guy. If it's the later, here's a newsflash: No one cares. Take it to your myspace, or whatever.
Listen....I know many here are getting nostalgic. That is good. This music was great.
But where is the good music today? It is such trash and crap!!! Most of the music is sung by no talent pretty faces. MUSICAL TALENT =/= LOOKS!!! I won't even get into rap crap. Oh no.
okay i am a 13 year old girl who is in love with this band! my dad played them 2 make me go 2 sleep like my lullaby! i have grown up with them!! <3333
play it on high pitch ...........its a awwsome song

2. Have an original LP copy of SPORTS that you bought when it came out.
3. Watched this video a million times on MTV (back when they actually played music videos instead of crap).

Besides, wasn't this album recorded digitally anyway? So wouldn't it make sence to seek out the original CD?

bands like huey lewis, the outfeild, men at work all never did get the credit they should have perhaps it was because back then there were tons of good bands and not just the few they force us to listen to on radio today

Huey Lewis & The News has to be one of the most underrated and under appreciated rock bands that has come out. Their songs were always catchy and had great sound to them but you notice nobody ever puts them high on a list of great bands
copo1le 2 years ago 5
I can agree with that.
bperera2 2 years ago
hey copo. i think they were underrated because of the jersey mob muscling radio stations across this great nation to play that underbit fella bruce springsteen. imo.
LeppKingGathbertI 2 years ago
They actually won a "Best Music Video" award for this

The album that song came from was the first cassette tape I ever had. And I STILL have it to this day! One of my fav albums of all time. I like how they give a holler to Detroit.....MOTA CITAAIIIIIIII !!!
HickorySnickersnuff 2 years ago
Same here . .

These guys had class. No tattoos, body piercings, no trashy look. Clean cut and great sound. So sad that this style has almost vanished.
persius07 2 years ago 4
yeah,,keep listening to Kid Rock dork.
djbosox 2 years ago
kid rock?! never heard of him/her. Must be a passing fad.
persius07 2 years ago 3
So just because someone has tattoos and or piercings, makes them non-classy? Hmmm...where I come from, judging someone solely on their appearance is pretty trashy. Ever heard of Nikki Sixx? That man is a class act...and SMART and TALENTED. I'm a huge Huey fan and miss him and the boys but come on...
gerbergirl 2 years ago 2
Nikki Sixx is not much of a class act. He and Tommy Lee were arrested after a Mötley Crüe concert in Arizona for inciting a race riot.

That bit at the end. Is that somehow implying that the 'Heart of Rock'n'Roll' beats within Huey?
Gratifying to note that the Ramones & Johnny Thunders died for nothing.......... ("~)

if neal boortz played this song throughout the whole show over his voice his show would be much better.

Oh no.
