You should try her baked beans.......Holy wowza! I made them for Christmas Day and have requests every week since for more! Soooooooo easy and cheap to make!
Hannah's a girl who knows what she wants! She's such a smart lil lady. ^_^
I love Ree Drummond! Made me rather sad when she disappeared from Food Network for a few months. I haven't attempted any of her recipes yet, but that au gratin potato recipe had me raising my eyebrows when she made it on her show. lol
The Spicy Dr. Pepper Pork sounds great! Makes me wanna try it :3
I've made the potatoe recipe before. I boiled the potatoes until soff, then I heated the cream, and cheese, whisked in a little flour with herbs/ salt and pepper and whatnot. Poured it over the potatoes and threw some ham or sometimes bacon - { Or Both. Depends on what my dad wants on it. If i dont want it I'll give it too him! Lol }, then baked it for a half hour at 400. :)
I made the spicy dr. pepper pork for dinner last night and we LOVED it! I didn't use the whole can of peppers because I didn't want it overly spicy, but it was sweet and had some kick to it. Thanks for giving me this awesome dinner idea. I served it on rolls with garlic herb mashed potatoes. = )
Girl she's in Oklahoma, you can't take one of our good southern girls and try to make her a northerner, lol. If you want to try a good potato recipe of hers you need to find her creamy herbed potato recipe. It's an older recipe if hers that doesn't get nearly enough love. I've told several people about it over the years and haven't heard a bad word yet.
I love her, she has the BEST baked beans recipe! If you like the basic flavor of the pork, you could use less peppers to make it less spicy, strain out the fat (my mom has this fat staining cup with the spout down low, so that when the fat rises to the top, you can pour out the juices. Then, heat up the juices and thicken with cornstarch (whisk really well to get out the lumps). Add just a teaspoon at a time until you get the thickness you want.
I LOVE the dr. Pepper pork!! I. Actually add a little more seasoning though i didnt think it was too spicy, but im from south louisiana so I'm pretty used to seasoning! And I leave the meat in the sauce after I shred it, it made the wraps very juicy and delicious.
Confession. I totally made these potatoes after you posted the recipe on FB. It turned out awesome! I made a few changes; used TJ's crushed garlic, sliced potatoes thinner, used butter potatoes instead of russet, used white sharp cheddar and layered it, salt and peppered each layer, and finally cooked it longer than directed. I made it for our guests and it was enjoyed. Everyone went back for more.
Oh also, when I make the Dr.Pepper pork, I use only 1 can (if not 1/2 can) of the adobo peppers. Really helped with the spicynessv and then instead of on sandwiches I use them for tacos, corn tortillas, sour cream, cheese, avocado). And it is really tasty that way. :).
Love Pioneer Women, she's actually from Oklahoma. :). Anyway, one you should try of hers is her chicken tortilla soup. It's actually pretty figure friendly and SO tastes! (we are actually having it tonight for dinner). Yummo
Love pioneer women love her blogs and the cooking show I do alot of her recipes and my family loves them,I have done other recipes from other cooks and my family hated them. With hers I love the fact her recipes make alot comming from a famliy of 7 there is plenty to go around, the other I alsways have to double or triple recipes.
I love Ree Drummond but I have to make her recipes only now and then because I seriously was buying boxes of butter every week to try something new of hers and it's so unhealthy! We do the Dr. Pepper pork probably once a month but we cute the adobo amount in half and then we put the meat on a sandwich roll with some spicy Stubbs BBQ sauce and sometimes coleslaw. But it was weird on the show where they just ate it with a fork. My favorite recipe is her french toast with berry butter!
I think you're quite talented yourself Carla, just sayin!
