@911sausageman The purpose wasn't JUST to invade any 1 country.It was to introduce a 'new enemy' to replace Communism as America's BIG enemy to justify maintaining a huge military,CIA which the people wont willing pay to maintain (huge) UNLESS they believe there's a BIG threat.The enemy needs to be worldwide & NOT tied to any one country because if it were the people would believe the War on Terror was over once that country was invaded. We've lost 800 troops per year since we entered Iraq compared to 5,800 or so lost per year in Vietnam (consider 10 year involvement).

This is why the USA wants to stay for 50 years. If the death total now remains constant, it's still less than the Vietnam War after 10 years.
