  • Great Car and at last decent music...not that rap crap that a lot of people put on.

  • What hood are you going to use? This is a stinger hood. It came as a solid casting and the vent had to be cut out and then a couple sheets of fiberglass layed under the cutout section to keep it from flexing and cracking.

  • im going to switch hoods on my vette, will a new hood leave a small gap in the front?

  • Awesome!! Your keeping the spirit alive of Hot Rodding. I dont care if its a vette or mustang, you put together a hot rod for YOU. Fuck the haters, I would change the engine, paint too.. Its not like these 77's are that rare.I love what you did and be proud man! Its a AMERICAN car!! Thats why, I dont mind Found on Road Dead, I mean Ford's anymore. At least their AMERICAN Made cars.Keep Rodding Alive! Rice burners just suck!!!

  • a well mannered corvette with killer curves.

  • :( engine blasted on me from slc to vegas :(

  • beautiful car, very nice job.

  • gotta love that stinger hood, im lookin to put one on my 79, right now it just has the high rise hood on it

  • Did you get your seats re-upholstered? I have a 77 too, was wonder how much it was to do it

  • @wfhs209 Yes, I had the seats redone. Leather seat skins are $700, Foam is $200 and I had a local shop install everything for $150. I ordered all my interior stuff from ecklers, but mid-america has the same stuff.

  • That's a sick Vette. Are those Foose wheels? Did the 18's fit in the back without modification? What width and backspacing?

I'm rebuilding a '77 right now and looking for a similar stance.

  • @brandonwhite224 These are 18x10.5, Boyd Coddington, Smoothie IIs. I would have to look the backspacing up when I get home or you can just call Boyds and they can tell you. 18s fit in the back, but if you want to go that wide, you will have to move the bracket for the emer brake cables. I know guys who have put larger rims in the back, like 19s and 20s....height really isnt and issue. There is a ton of wheel well to fill up with stock suspension. Mine is lowered too though

  • #2 behind ´thriller´... ("how"? ;)

  • Nice car, I have a 76 that is a nice car but sadly still has the orig L-48 and orig int. I was wondering where did you get the stinger hood? Is it from Ecklers? Nice car!

    Jason

  • I have a black 1977 corvette that I need to re-do the interior for. I was wondering where you got those car seats and any other interior parts. Think you could help me out?

  • @hydroginous I ordered new seat skins, new seat foam and door panels from Ecklers. I repainted most of the plastic, but you can order everything from ecklers or mid-america.

  • Comment removed

  • @vettemike77 Are the products from Ecklers and Mid-America fairly priced? I am on a tight budget and I want to fix my vette completely. Its been stopped for 16 years so I basically need a complete rebuild.

  • SWEET!!!!!!!

  • still looks good, pimped or not,,,,different thats for shure

  • Dude, no offense meant by this, but this doesnt look like much of a rebuild from the picks you show. More of a pimping. Lol. Dont get me wrong it looks sweet, just doesnt look like a complete rebuild. Still sweet.

  • @72Motocross72 I will consider changing the name of the video to "pimping my 1977 corvette" since it doesnt meet your criteria of a "rebuild" I really thought about keeping it a stock 180hp corvette that would cost about 12K to toatally restor back to OEM and only be worth about 10K, but then I figured it would be lot more fun with cool paint and a bitchin motor.

  • @72Motocross72 I agree.....and dude,you should've stuck with the classic wheels...no offense..

  • That Stinger Hood is awesome touch on a great car!

  • whats the name of this song? and b4 someone tries to go off on me for not knowing, i generally don't listen to this type of music.

  • @mikesixer3 Back In Black (AC/DC)

  • @vettemike77 thx

  • What the song it is?

  • @TheMarchibald AC/DC back in black

  • @EliBonita80 Thank you!

  • Original rims were bad ass

  • its a shame u changed the color

  • hood kinda reminds me of a 69 or 70 mustang....very slick car I have always loved the lines on these vettes...only generation I like

  • the rims dont go with the car at all

  • my 78 has got a stock 350 it puts out 315hp got the dyno sheet to prove it. but i like you 383 swap nice upgrade. like the vette man

  • I love it when a plan comes together... Looks good

  • woooow nice job

  • Great car and color scheme...

  • Great color, I like the 2 tone. I have a tan 77 and I am thinking of changing the color. Great car !!!

  • That's an awesome build man.

I really like the wheels, they still match the car but just give that new look.

  • would be nice with orignal rims, but thats just what i think. Nice car keep her that way ^^

  • Nice build!! Love the rims and the hood. What engine combo did you go with? SBC 350? or did you punch it out to a 383 or something?

  • Thanks! It's a 383. This is the 4 motor I've had in it. It had the original 350 in it when I got it. I think it had like 180hp. It was pretty weak. It's feels more like a Vette now, but I will always want more!

  • Pretty nice. Love the color choice. Sorry not my style of hood. Hopefully I can find the time to make my 79 look this good.

  • your music dosen`t work

  • Whats size rims are you running?

  • They are 18x10.5 in the back and 17x8 in the front.

  • the color is an excellent choice. what color is it? the wheels go beautifully with the new paint. look like Boyds.

  • Its platinum gray. I got the paint code from an 04 VW Beetle.

  • i cnt wait...im prolly gettin a 1980 nxt summer 4 my first car n gettin the same hood put on it n the wide tires n the bak tho

  • I get goosebumps every time I see one. Always thought it would be cool to see one fade from navy to black underneath like a real stingray. I'm no gearhead, but they are pieces of art.

  • lol i think its not black but grey

  • back in black...............yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaahhh back in black!!!!!!!!

  • check out my boys vette on my page

  • I have a 77 that I bought with everything original and I was gonna keep it that way until I shot 4 pistons, now I want to trick the shit out of it I got a motor in mind but I want to know what rims and tires you have cause they are fucking awesome

  • They are Boyd Coddington Smoothie IIs and Michelin Pilot Sports.

  • i have a porsche carrera 911 from 2003 and a corrvette sting ray from 1976 and a lexus ls 400

  • looks like a stingray to me though!

  • is that the coupe model or the stingray? they both kinda look the same

  • The 1977 model was the last year of the flat glass corvette and was not considered a stingray model even though the only notable changes to the car were emblems. "Coupe is not really a "model". They were all called "coupes" in 1977. (they were really targa tops) The models in 1977 were L-48 or an L-82, this one is an L-48. The L-82 had 210hp and the L-48 had 180hp. This car has a custom built engine, so the model did not really matter to me when I built the car.

  • Where did you find that hood? did you build it custom?

  • I got my hood from Ecklers. Mid-America offers the same hood for around the same price. It is called the "Stinger Hood".

  • nice work!!it's a beauty

quick question - how much time and money do you think it would cost to install a new engine (like a 5 speed 250 hp engine), clutch, transmission, etc. (basically ONLY the parts that move the car) in a 78 vette? (keep in mind i don't want to make it really fast, i just want it to run)

and do you think a 17 yr old, who has no exp. in cars, can do it? like is there a site that can teach me how?

    Thank you

  • You could do it for around $2,000. There are a ton of good deals on the internet. Old Vettes get expensive fast. I have a ton of money invested in mine. It is a good base car to start with though. I started building this one when I was 19. It took me about 4 years to get it in the shape its in now. I did all the work except the body stuff. You can buy the Haynes and the chilton manual to get step by step instructions to rebuild the entire car.

  • should have kept the original rims sorry. nice car though

  • haha yhea i mean thoes are aweosme and everything but you should have gotten some powder coated rims.

  • How bout some newer vids - i want to see it lowered and here/see it run. Nice car.

  • cool car!

    cool song!

    respect!

  • uno de los mejores carros del mundo

  • It`s amazing. <3 corvettes

  • you my friend are a very lucky guy

how long did the rebuild take you?

  • Thanks! I have had it since 2001 and I started doing stuff to it as soon as I got it, but the major part of the rebuild took about 2 years. I don't think I will ever be finished with it though. I have added all new composite suspension and lowered it 4 inches since I made this video.

  • you are basically doing everything that i plan to do to mine when i get it. im hoping to pick up a 72 in a couple months and i was just wondering where you buy your parts?

  • I get buy stuff from wherever I can find it the cheapest. Most of the motor stuff is from Summit or Jegs, my suspension stuff came from Vette Brake Parts and I get a lot of Vette specific parts from Ecklers or Mid-America. Good luck with your's! 72 is a good choice, I couldnt find any 68-72s that werent overpriced. I wanted one with the chrome bumpers, but I got a hell of a deal on this one! I only paid 5K for it when I bought it.

  • wow... once again ill say it... you mr friend are a lucky guy if i could find a working corvette for 5k id drop the cash in a heart beat did you buy it locally or through internet sites

  • wow man... once again ill say it, you my friend are a very lucky guy. If i could find any c3 for 5 k i would drop the cash in a heart beat. did you buy it locally or from an internet search thing?

  • HOLY CRAP!!!

  • NICE

  • im thinking about rebuilding a classic muscle car with my dad got any suggestions on what i should get

  • CORVETTE!!!!!

    1976

    :)

  • thanks ill try that if it happens ill post a video of it

  • my favourite is the 1973

    build that one hahahah

  • build a mustang or a firebird/camaro.

something that the parts are cheap to get

  • That hood is insane. Great car, man.

  • bitchin' car man!!!

  • Great Car good Job on the Stigray ^^

    realy good

  • where u get the rims and what kind is or name of the model of the rims nice baby i got 1979 L82

  • I got them from Boyd Coddington. They are smotthie II's. 18s in the back and 17s up frot. Good luck with your 79!

  • Naughty :)

  • That things sweet man. I just got a 77 Vette. Im restoring her, she needs paint work pretty bad. Any tips?

  • Just find someone that has a lot of experience working with fiberglass. It can be a real pain if you dont know what you are doing. If I was could do mine over again I would buy a new fiberglass front and rear bumper. The originals shrink and its hard to make them perfect.

  • wow look at that new engine.... what does new engine smell like?

    sweet v8, or was it a v10?

  • Its a V8. 383 small block Chevy.

  • nice... i love your vette... how much did you spend on the car when you got it? where did you get the engine? how much was it? ever dyno'ed it? how much horsepower? 1/4 mile times?

  • Thanks! I paid $5500 for it. The engine was built by AR Racing in Richmond Va. I have about 12G's in the motor and then another couple in the NO2 stuff and Ignition and polished accessories. It Dyno'ed at 1038hp with a progressive 500 shot on it and 528 with no juice. I turned a 10.44 in the 1/4 on street tires.

  • I just put all new composite susp with a transverse mono leaf, tubular A arms and digressive valve bilestein shocks on it a couple months ago, I havent had it on the track since then. It handles a lot better now though.

  • Where did you get the tubular a arms from?? Are they only for use with transvers front?? What size rear sway bar you using?? Or are you?? Is the roof painted black ??? hard to tell...do you have the 1 piece Lexan top too??

  • I got them from vettbrakeparts Ecklers has them too though. U can use them without the tranvers mono leaf. The leaf is a hell of a lot easier to install and a lot lighter than springs though. I have a 3/4" sway bar in the front and a 5/8" sway bar in the front. The roof is painted black all the way to the back of the fins and I have a one peice Lexan top.

  • I would just get the Transverse mono leaf instead of the tubular A arms if I had to pick one or the other. Vettebrakeparts make a mono leaf that u can use without the tubular arms. I just wanted it to have fully adjustable spring rates.

  • I have a friend who's business is actually restoring Vettes and is an NCRS judge too...he said they rode harsh and choppy...I haven't been in one so I can't say...did you say the rates are adjustable??? Or do they just make different LB springs?? Oh and holy shit 1038 HP.....I don't think I really wanna go that fast in the fiberglass casket!!

  • The spring rates are adjustable from 300 to 500. I have mine set at the 500lb rate right now. It is kind of a rough ride. I'm going to go down a little before spring to see if I like it better. It does handle really good with the 500lb rate though.

  • I dont think my car would score very well with an NCRS judge! There isnt much stock stuff left on it. Those guys usually hate me! Its mine; my way though and thats what I like.

  • I like the STINGER hood too.

  • Looks great in so many ways. Love the Ac/Dc to it. Really like the bigger wheels(17?) and the painted calipers...nice attention to detail bro.

  • Thanks! They are 17x8 in the front and 18x10.5 in the back. They are Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's

  • Very cool. I looked at those funny enough. I went with 17 78 Boss 312 I believe...255/50 raer and 245/45 front. To me they looked like the Hot wheels rims on all my cars as a kid. I actually found a company that makes 17" Z rated tires with the thin red line...soon enough.

  • I am running 255/45 in the rear and 245/50 in the front. I wanted to keep the car level, but make it look like it was higher in the back. Like the old Hot Wheels from back when I was a kid!! I had those little cars in my head when I was coming up with ideas for this car!

  • I'm getting ready to yank this motor and (save-matching #) and install a vicious 66 327 that I've been running 11.5 with in my s10-all motor and street tires-also just bought Hooker chrome side piese and headers. Great car-love when I see someone do the shit themselves. NO ONE has ever touch my car-from the frame to the motor/paint etc. That's what hot roddin is about!!

  • Hellz Yeah!!! That is what roddin is about!! My dad and my uncle are into Model A's and that what I grew up on. I guess that where a lot of my ideas come from. 327 is a badass little motor! I've had a couple of them!

  • I love AC/DC!!!! The plate on my truck says B@CNBL@K. Im trying to figure out a way to put Thunderstuck on the vette or maybe HELZBELZ. I have N2OSHARK on it now and everyone knows it as that, so maybe I'll keep that.

  • Ha Ha me too...check out the too vids I'm going to send you. I was the first kid in middle school to have this album and sold taped copies for $2. I see now the roof isn't black down the rear sweeps-looks like that in the earlier pix-and actually looks good as shit.

  • It is black down the rear sweeps. It wraps all the way around the car from the hood to the back with a black pinstripe all the way around from the front to the back. Thanks!

  • I went to school with Brian Johnson's nephew (Mark) hehe and my uncle knew Brian cos my uncle had a garage beside his studio in Newcastle (Byker). Me uncle says he was rough as fuck. No bullshit.

  • Awesome, I have a 75 (See my vids) just dropped a HO350 into her, should be done this week. Where did you get that HOOD? I want one.

  • Thanks for the comment! I got the hood from Ecklers, but mid america has the same one too. I think it cost around $850 with shipping. It didnt give me much more hood clearance and my body guy hat to lay a couple sheet of fiberglass under the opening after he cut the opening out. It didnt come pre-cut. I had to make a custome air cleaner for it to get the hood to close, it should be fine with a regular intake though. I'm running a single plane high rise victor junior on mine.

  • Thanks for the Info. Hopefully I'll have a slide show of my engine change out next week!

  • ahhh. 77 was a good year ;-)

  • Nice.....

  • ROFLMAO at all the jealous haters! Great lookin car man! Dont let them haters bother ya. I got a couple ?'s for ya. When you put those wheels & tires on did it throw off your speedometer? Also wasn't '77 the last year of the big oval guages and that particular back window?

  • Thanx for the comment. The wheels made the seedo read about 5mph lower then what the actual speed is. '77 is the last year for the flat glass back window. Corevette used about the same style guages from '68-82. They are all round, but the speedo and tach might look oval because of the trim around them and the slanted dash.

  • That is one SWEET vette. Vettes FOREVER!

  • sweet job!

  • Thanx for the colour that you gave me I have painted now my corvette in similar colour as yours its a Mazda perl graphite grey it looks awsome

  • Nice Stinger hood who did you pick it up through and how much did you get it for I am looking for one cheaper than what Ecklers is selling them for

  • I got mine form Ecklers, I think I paid around $700 for it then around another $100 to get it shipped. It does not come with the opening cut out either and after you cut it out it makes it feel kinda flimsy around the opening. My body guy layed a couple more sheets of fiberglass around the opening to make it stronger though. I havent had any other problems with it though. I think Mid-America has them too, but they are around the same price. Im not sure of anyone else who has them.

  • Good Luck Mike and always drive to have FUN.

  • Be side my 1968 442 I also own a 1976 Corvette and I just put a new 350 bored over 30 to a 355 in it so unlike some newer owners I know your hard work you have put in your vette. Keep them on the road.

  • Thanx for the comment! 442's are one of my favorite muscle cars! Once you get a Vette its hard to go back to anything else though, Save The Wave!!!

  • my 2007 corvette is so better then that shit

  • WOW! Congratulations on being able to afford a brand new Vette! Bring that thing to the track down here in Kinston and we will see whose is better or if u want to give it a try on the autocross, thats fine too!

  • new vettes are gay

  • 1977 is not my favorite year, but this particular car is beautiful. Done just right.

  • Very nice car, how much you pay in USA for a 1977 corvette ? In France this cars are expensives an rares. Thanks

  • Rockin Vette. I want to get one soooo bad. If I could put together (one) of my dream vettes it would be an 82 with a LS7 or one of the LS motors, 6sp out of a camaro, black, or some sort of dark blue. But either way, I love your vette man!

  • I'm restoring a 77 vette at the moment and was wondering what you did with the antenna because the car looks so clean without it and is that a one-peice t-top on there?

  • I have a power antenna on it. Yes its a one peice top. I got it from astrotops. I think it was around $350, a lot cheaper than new T-tops. It doesnt seal very well around the windows either, but my car doesnt see much rain so I just try to be careful when Im washing it. Good luck with your 77! If you have any other questions about mine feel free to ask. Save The Wave!!!!

  • Hello!

I am restoring my 1978 corvette could you tell me witch colour did you use. Is the colour the spiral grey from a C5 corvette or something else.

    bye from Slovenia

  • Its Platinum grey off a 2004 VW. Spiral grey is almost the same, but has a little more obvious metal flake in it.

  • Thanx Mike greate corvette I hope that in the future I will install such motor to now its stock L82

  • Beautiful car. I want to do a restoration on an 81 (year I was born. I think I'll go with Solar Yellow paint though.

  • OK THATS IT.....I have to have those rims for my 74 stingray.....what brand and size wheel and tire is that .....its crazy beautiful.....!

  • Come on dude!!

I was waiting for a quartermile run or a nice burnout.

See my 99 Hardtop burnout. Nice work though.

  • More shitty rims on a sweet classic.

  • Thanx for the shitty comment! When you build your own Vette you can put whatever rims you want on it!

  • trust me, your car is a set of hydraulics and a fishtank away from looking like anything from pimp my ride if anything it's more like a resto-mod

  • fuck that guy, love the rims

  • Hey nice Vette, I also have a 77. Where do you get most of your parts, in particular the hood? Again, sweet ride!

  • I got the hood from Ecklers, I think Mid-America has it too though. I get most of the vette parts from Vette Brake Parts, Ecklers, and Mid-America. All the Engine stuff is from Summit Racing, Jegs, and A.R. Racing. Thanks for the comment!

  • Sweet!!

  • I prefer the old car(when the car is yellow) the corvette is a classic now is similar to pimp my ride.

  • To each his own, I built it how I wanted it! Thats what real cars are about, anyone can buy a stock car the way it rolled off the assembly line!

  • one of my favorite cars looks like the batmobile

  • woah... now thats a car
