The resolution is not based on individual rights. When a racist speaks at the opening of the Durban II Conference, that speaks volumes. Obama was right in boycotting the Conference even though I disagree with several of his other policies/actions -- But read the actual resolution ... understand how it effects freedom of speech and our unalienable civil rights as such, to make an educated and responsible decision. God bless the Republic!
I think it's important to note that the conference addressed "the legacy of the trans-atlantic slave trade, colonization, the occupation of Palestine & the expropriation of indigineous people's lands and resources." Therefore, supposed 1st amendment violations inadequately serve to justify the decision to boycott the conference. Nor do they justify the contempt shown by western countries for calls to adopt the Programme of Action from the Durban Declaration.
In 2001, I saw their behaviour at the telly. Unbelievable, it was massively insulting to the global population.
Shortly after, 9/11 happened. I always thought that 9/11 had in some sense to do with Durban. Eary thing is, I thought that after Durban, something would happen.
Well said and thank you for deceiving the people Obama so much for CHANGE and HOPE. If this is what we can expect from Obama when he has just sat down in the chair, what can we expect to see in 4 years ? i shudder to think not another war...
I find it hypocritical that a country, the U.S., would boycott a meeting on racism.
But, at the same time, I'm not surprised. We support a rogue state that treats its arab populations as second-class citizens, much like blacks were treated here in the U.S. before the civil rights movement.
The irony detector is over heating on that one and I'd be willing to bet Martin Luther King, Jr is rolling over in his grave about now.
racism is kepted alive by having meets on racism. Most part of racism is brought on by people that think they should be allowed to come and go to any part of earth as they want. That will not happen till the return of Jesus. And if you don't believe in Jesus, don't plan on it happen while man rules the earth.
Stay woke!
