I love the bit when he brings the Moog in. I've recently broke from keyboard lessons of 7 years, however I'm going to start classical piano lessons in September and hopefully increase my skills. Rick Wakeman is my greatest keyboard inspiration.
Why are negative comments getting flagged. They aren't spam just because they point out flaws, though I see no flaws with Wakeman or any of his music.
I was recently going through my favourite keyboard artist's and came across Rick Wakeman.....wearing Jean Michel Jarre's 1997 concert in Moscow Jacket.....Still love there music ...think there the masters.....and thought i was imagining this useless bit of info...well it is sunday...
OMG!!! this man is the reason I've always wanted to play keys...since the first time I saw him 30 plus yrs. ago...and why, at the ripe old age of 56 I started piano lessons last year. While I'll obviously NEVER play like him ( who could)!!) I absolutely LOVE it. I also love the blip at 3:42..makes me feel good. As my piano teacher reminds me every week...even the masters miss a note every once in awhile..
Yeah, that mistake was really huge at 3:42! LOL I sure wish I could play a whole solo like this and "ONLY" miss that one little note. That's not even worth pointing out.
You're right, it DEFINITELY is not worth mentioning.
And RayQuadrineros, in case you haven't noticed, it's a concert. And quite often performers have a few drinks (if only) before. And we don't know how long the guy had already played, and how tired could've been...
So, I hope you know where to stick your 'harsh critisism'. I bet you're more forgiving to The Who...

Its wonderful but its not so really tight all the time, Rudess and Pinella is much more tecnically than this guy, but I believe Wakeman is more like a keyboard god, Rudess and Pinella are the keyboard masters..
His doctor has told him "no more touring". Rick did a short 2-week stint, I think in New York, and it really took it's toll on him. Unfortunately, our Rock Gods and Heroes aren't exactly "spring chickens" anymore. Rick is/was, however, performing "Six Wives" at henry's castle in England. 2 shows, I believe. Check out his website, "Rick Wakeman Communication Centre". Peace:-)
I've heard the same thing. He's done some local things in England since he left Yes, but nothing on the scale of Yes tours. Out of curiosity, for those of you who have seen them this year/last year, how does Oliver stack up? I was twice thwarted in my attempts to see Yes last year (Los Angeles on the first tour with Jon, and Phoenix with Benoit) so I haven't been able to see them out this stretched. Fingers crossed that this leg goes smoothly.
Io c'ero. I was there :-) too sad the weather was awful that night, rain almost wet the sleeve of a vinyl I brought to get autographed. Comunque Yes are pure Legend
If someone tells me tha RW has 8 fingers on each hand I would not argue at all. Serious! Perfect!!!!

"Sin palabras, y hay quien duda que Wakeman es el mejor tecladista de rock de todos los tiempos. "
Without words, and some people doubt that Wakeman is the best rock keyboard player of all time.

Lots of fast fingerwork, for sure, but plain boring static harmonies.

Well, Rick plays fast. I like fast. But I like content more. Harmonic and melodic content--wish Rick had more of this.
