@MrMarijuanaKills what YOU need to do is some research. Prove your points. Oh wait, you can't. Know why? There is not one case in documented medical history where marijuana caused anything more than maybe nausea, paranoia, or just plain munchies. Obviously you were never told to question anything anyone ever told you, you fucking tool.
@chiefpiefke : @ 4:00 he says, Rough translation " Get away, I want you to just calm down, a guy must put his mouth where his jaw is and think that I am just going to just disappear into the earth. That is not how it is going to go today. Just smile so that your face may stop hurting you (from grimacing)". @ImplementDestruction Wow man, just because someone mentions allah doesn't mean they're an extremist. reggae is all about the world coming together without hate. Sure there's anger but no hate man. I think this bro was just showing love in his own way. Peace, Live up
@slipyourhips peter tosh beleived in hate, violence, being a major part of the world. and he himself was racist. The only thing he really fought for was true justice and his own peoples spiritual movement. reggae is about the spiritual movement of peoples of african decent, most rastafarri see the white man as being devil for enslaving there people and isolating them from god
@slipyourhips yes we should transcend origin and grow. and its nice of u too try to use that argument. but you were stating peter tosh wasnt an extremist and that reggae is all about the world coming together, both of which are incorrect. im sure we have the same view on the fact the world should grow with love, but its funny how many people think reggae is this feel good world peace movement, when its not.
@rehtrem Good point of course, I'm 39 and have been listening to Reggae in all forms since I was 13. I'm well aware of the struggle and fight it's message mainly salutes. And a lot is about sex, violence, oppression. Pretty clear in the lyrics that Tosh mostly wrote. May I quote Bob? "We don't need no more trouble, what we need is love, love sweet love" Jah bless
Their message ultimately was about the world coming together...but like they said "We Africans will fight, we find it necessary" but also "let righteousness cover the earth." How can righteousness cover the earth without the result being the people coming together? They advocate fighting the system; the people have to come together in righteousness for that to be of any use. Even if you defeat the system, without righteousness another system of man against man would result.
Fighting against the oppression of your race is not racism. Tosh preached "equality", if you are racially oppressed obviously you are dealing with race and must confront the oppressor. Any racially oppressed person who fights his oppression would be construed a racist, because you have to unite your own people to fight it. Had he been in the superior position it would be racist, because it would not be necessary for his people's survival, rather be the oppressor himself.
@subg88 "I dont want no peace, i want justice"-Peter Tosh. i grasp wat you are saying and i agree with alot, my point was that the reggae movement was not made for some lovey dover hippie hug circle movement. The world IS NOT a peaceful place, and it wont ever be completely peaceful, thats the balance of the universe, which is another thing that rasta preaches.
When I die, Il have a bag of marijuana in my right hand, and rolling paper in my left, and once I get pass the Pearly Gates, I will ask Peter Tosh, and Bob Marley to smoke a joint with me. Jah will provide the bread, RIP Kings Of Reggae
Tosh like Marley were and continue to be King of reggae, no one else in the business compares to these guys, thema hardcore rasta wit realistic relevancy. Peter was an enigmatic genius and good with vocal timing, and in his time nobody mess wit him, he'd accrued such a diverse experience of life in such a short tim...e span, essentially he'd seen it all and taken the rough with the smooth and his music is a reflection of his innate character and personality. yeah. someone gave him the opportunity to put his words into action & he lay down & took it in the head without lifting a finger. should have treated those gunmen good, eh?
Quite possible, but this information is what I have gathered from various sources (CBC? BBC?) relating to English as spoken in Jamaica. Perhaps I should try Wikipedia?
Agreed! His voice goes from silky smooth to a growl in an instant. And he was a "true rebel" right to the end. I read that he just wanted to work by himself after leaving the Wailers, no hard feelings toward Marley...
Whoever asked "Are you saying that Peter Tosh would've 'approved'(?) of 9/11" GET A GRIP! I had NO SUCH THOUGHT in mind whenever I posted whatever I did to make you think that. God forbid!
You cannot surpass perfection. Peter's version is, and always will be, the best and most perfect one. And he was, after all, the 'stepping razor' for whom the song was written...Peter did not care what he said or what the consequences would be, as long as it was the truth. He was not "one in a million." Peter Tosh was just one. Then God put away the mold. His creation was perfect.
You're very welcome. Speaks volumes of the world when the very people who are willing to give up their lives for FREEDOM & JUSTICE are usually the ones who are silenced.....all the way back to Jesus Christ, and before. Bob Marley was great, but PETER TOSH was the prophet, the leader, The One who backed his words with action. I will blast his music every chance I get, everywhere I go. I love the man so very much.....
Peter Tosh devoted his entire life to helping his own...the poor people of Trenchtown. THAT is why he "died a violent death" -- first, almost beaten to death for having the balls to speak the TRUTH at the 1976 OneLove Concert, and then taken advantage of by one of the very people he had been helping, a former convict he took pity on outside his home in TRENCHTOWN. Most insiders believe the Jamaican government was responsible. So do I. Peter Tosh must NEVER be forgotten ~ the TRUE HERO...!
He truly was righteous, and when someone speaks the truth they attract adversaries, opponents and infamy. the positive come running towards him, and as a testement to his power he attracted negativity from the people who felt threatened( and were!) by him.
Similar to how the Black Panthers got assasinated and Huey jailed. They were becoming to influencial so the status quo had to stop them.
Pretty damned sad that to be HONEST in this corrupt world, you also have to risk your LIFE...
September 11th was the 21st anniversary of Peter's death. I hope he is not only resting in peace, but immensely enjoying what is happening in the world right now. PAYBACK for the GREED. Right on, Peter!! Love you and hope to meet you when I cross over!

Thumbs up if you think marijuana users should have a finger amputated as a punishment instead of being sent to prison?
This would serve the purpose of rehabilitating them too as they would find it hard to roll a joint,

I agree, and thank you for your comment.
