I only got to listen to him call games for the first 17 years of my life but the memories will last a lifetime, whether it's him calling the final pitch of the '08 World Series, singing High Hopes, or one of his signature "outta here!" home run calls. Kalas was the best. He is missed. Being the play by play guy for the Phillies and only the Phillies, with exception for the Astros early in his carreer,of course he would root for the Phillies. Harry Kalas (who will be 73 in March 2009) was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002, as the winner of the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting.

Both suffered massive heart attacks on the road, Whitey after a game vs. the Mets (the team he retired from in 1962) and Harry in DC before a game.
