if laak was trying to bluff, the absolute only play would be to push all in. as he himself said right before the dealer dealt the river. raising any substantial amount would price him in.
It was a bad play because he was committing himself to the pot by betting the turn, so he should have just pushed all-in instead and he likely would have gotten a fold.
