i'm not scottish, but it's the first time i hear (of mclean and) the song and i'm crying. i really am. 2 minutes ago i watched "green grow the rashes, o" and i am sure he's the best musician i ever heard in my life. goes straight to the heart, not just because of the lyrics but it's the way he sings and plays. love it.

Quite a nostalgic piece this is. The historical Caledonia, as the Romans understood it, encompasses the southern Highlands of Scotland, GBR, where "The Hard People" held their own against intermittent Roman invasion from Britannia.

The song does tug at the heart strings and can have this affect on anyone away from home regardless of creed or culture. It make me feel homesick and 'im only a 3hr drive away in England.

Aye or going home - runrig. Saw him last night at the Clunie Village hall only about 100 people their including his mom and wife etc. He went round with a bottle of holy water asking if we wanted a little sweet sensation, and and he poured a dram for anyone that wanted one. Got an earful from his wife for chatting up a young one. Started with Broken Wings,,,what a legend.
