@carlylespicks I'm saying Murciélago at least 105 times a day. It sounds a thousand times more exotic than the way I used to say it MURSEELAGO, but that's not how I'd spell it lol. Could you by any chance make a video on how to say Koenigsegg, because people are pronouncing it like KONESEGG, and KOWENNEEGSEGG. I just need the real pronunciation, getting tired of hearing all these wrong pronunciations for awesome cars.
I always wondered why people ignored the OBVIOUS accent mark which falls on the "e" in Murciélago...why the hell do people think the accent is on the "a"?
Yes! You're completely right! I think the same. though I'm Polish, when I speak english I use american-english accent, I pronounce words like natives. Even then when I use single english words when I talk in polish. When I use french words I try to say it like a french person would, same thing with italian and spanish and others.Think of it like that, you're American and probably you make fun of or correct foreigners who mispronounce words. You would be corrected in Spain sayin words the wrong way
The word might be Spanish but I speak English, so I am not going to say it the way a person in Spain would....There is no wrong way to pronounce it, didn't you take anthropology? One of the big things anthropology emphasis's is that you can pronounce a word how ever you like.
@kirbienstien I'm sorry, but when you speak a SPANISH word, you are speaking Spanish. If you don't want to speak Spanish then don't say Spanish words like Murcielago. I take it you say attash instead of attaché. Balet instead of ballAY(ballet). Order croysants for breakfast? Do you shop at Home DePOT or Deepo? Order entries after appetizers or Ontrays (entrées)? Call HesooS(Jesus) Jeesus? I know it's hard to pronounce, but how you feel when foreigners mispronounce English words? :)
@kirbienstien OK, so I guess you do say DePOT instead of Deepo. The entire point of language is to communicate with others. Proper pronunciation is an essential component towards being understood. If people just pronounce words however they like then others will have trouble understanding them. Ever listen to a foreigner mispronounce a common word and confuse you? What about English speakers with thick accents. In fact if I spoke with my native accent in these videos nobody would understand me.
@kirbienstien there is a difference between changing dynamics in language throughout time, and mispronunciation of words. If everyone were to do that, then there would be no communication possible across a diverse group of people, which would lead to the break down of a society or societies that needs linguistic symbolism to function accordingly.
@carlylespicks You are awesome. XD I'm having this same argument with my brother about how to pronounce him. He says it the American way. I say it the Spanish way.
I was initially trolling, but come to think of it. The feel good mentality prevalent in this generation will lead up to no good. If I were to go to Spain and pronounce it like an English person they probably wouldn't understand then they would probably try to correct me. But, according to anthropology I'm correct too, even if I just made up a word. So if " this is how I saw it" is good enough for you then more power to you, I'd rather stay away of the ethnocentric opinions.
This is completely correct. Maybe you can do the same with the Reventón, the Gallardo or the new Aventador, so more people can learn how to pronounce it correctly.
@SAACAAS I speak spanish as my main language. And the C not always sound like a Z (th in english), not everybody has the same accent, even in Spain, some people pronounce it like S and it's correct.
@ositoster In Spanish (Castillan) Ce sound is like Ze sound, and Ci is like Zi . This words are from Spain. NEVER C, sound like S, in perfect Castillan. This is incorrect (called Seseo). I´m Andalusian and here exist "Ceceo" and "Seseo" like Southamerica (Both) or Canary Islands ( Only Seseo). Both are incorrect in perfect Castillian.
@IEatPoopOnWednesdays Well, if everybody shared this on Facebook and they have at least 450 friends, then we would get close. If you all share it with 10 friends then 8000 people will see it. You know what...maybe I'll do another version and I'll have Jenifer Lopez co-host it with me. I wonder what she is doing this weekend.
@bhartta Well...this word is even more complex than I've revealed in this video. Simple realizing it's a Spanish word is not really the end of it. You have to ask "What TYPE of Spanish?". There are many different Spanish speaking countries around the world. In Spain itself(source of the relevant bull fighting), there are many different dialects. In Castilian Spanish I believe they speak much like having a lisp. They would say "MURCHI" not "MURCIE". As for "LAAGO". That is gangsta rap talk. :)
@carlylespicks Really like the video for helping others learn the proper pronunciation. Very widely mispronounced, which really bugs me as a native Spanish speaker. The Castillian uses the θ, lispy "thiE," however I believe that in Córdoba, where the famous fight occurred they use the "siE," but the bull came from the North where the θ is used. Regardless, Lamborghini named the car and they used the "s" sound, so your pronunciation is the correct one.
@IEatPoopOnWednesdays Unfortunately YouTube is like the lottery...only, when you "win" it's not nearly as rewarding. Tape your grandma sneezing and get a million views, spend $100k on a movie much better than what you see in the theater and get 50 views. lol. Thanks for your appreciation of the video though! :)
@carlylespicks Hahaha yea what douches, I think this is valid and very useful information. I prefer to call these vehicals by their proper name, rather then looking stupid haha, I was pronouncing it " Merceealaaago" haha oops
@ProjectDFanPage Don't worry about it. It took me a LONG time to retrain my brain after listening to people saying it wrong for so long. I did a Maseratti episode a while ago and I think I said Mercilago. lol. Think I finally got it now though. Don't be surprised is some ITALIAN people associated with the company say it wrong too. lol.
Thumbs up if you appreciated the extensive effort I took to do major research (which included consulting with a Spanish professor) all for the benefit of the thousands out there that have trouble pronouncing it and would like to pronounce the word properly. Don't know who would thumb down a video like this that is helpful and took a lot of effort. :(
If you're American, you will pronounce wrong. We will try to pronounce it how it would be pronounced with the English Spelling. Thank you for this video, my life have been enlightened a little.
@MotorPressGuild Good point. This is a snipit from my Lamborghini history video so I was focusing on the Miura since it's core to their history. Did not bother changing cars just for this one section. I do see how out of context it might seem out of place. :) Thanks for watching!
@mclarenf1lmguy What is funny too is so many say it wrong that if you say correctly people think YOU are wrong! lol. It does not help when journalist do it wrong too. I spent a LOT of time researching and practicing the pronunciation before doing my video/interviews. It's like back in the day computer novices called Windows based machines "PC". Then as years went by it became so popular that even the first PC manufacturer(Apple) says "MAC -vs- PC" which is like saying "Sedan -vs- Camry". lol.
it took a minute for me to pronounce it 100% correctly..hahahahahahahaha

My head will "blowout" (explode), please SHUT UP!!. Maybe or
irritating
boring
cumbersome

Por fin alguien que lo pronuncia correctamente, pero con acento. Yo la pronuncio con la "i" mas corta (rapidisimo) y la "e" más prolongada.
Mur-ziEEE...la-go. Y en correcto "castellano" la "c" es interdental (suena como "z") y no como "s".

Finally someone who pronounces it correctly, but with an accent. I pronounce it with "i" shorter (very quick) and "e" longer.
Mur-ziEEe-la-go .... And right "Castilian" the "c" is interdental (sounds like "z") and not as "s".

@ositoster Use the google translator has good pronunciation of those words (I'm Spaniard).
In this form: "Spanish to English", and COPY and PASTE (ALL):
---------------------------
Miura, Espada, Diablo, Estoque, Aventador, Gallardo, Reventón, Murciélago.
---------------------------
And press the buttom (speaker).
---------------------------
P.D: DON´T FORGET THE ( ´ ) to emphasize the intonation. "Gallardo" means Galant (brave).
