Love this scene. It is so well acted by Colin and Bradley. You can really see Arthur's concern for Merlin and that he does care for him. He's not just a servant tasting/checking his food for poison, but a friend willing to do what is necessary to protect Arthur from harm. Merlin's reaction to the poison was believable. Not at all over done. :-)
Ahh Nimue and the music! I miss her, but Morgana is here! And she is lovely . The difference is Nimue appears and she goes in action and Morgana constantly makes her evil gazes and episodes after she does something evil...

The show's premise of "keeping the magic secret" is idiotic. Who the hell would be scared of Giles from Buffy if they were a wizard? It's probably a metaphor for something, dreamt up by some clown in designer specs.

Has anyone else realised that in Arthurian Legend, Nimueh was the name of "The Lady of The Lake". She's an ally of Merlin who eventually gives Arthur the sword Excalibur.
(In the opening credits, you see a sword under water... or at the bottom of a lake. I can see a plot twist developing here. Maybe Nimueh isn't so evil after all...)

They changed stuff to make it more interest, I think. The premise of the show was 'what if we changed it so Merlin and Arthur are the same age?'.
But it's more accurate than you'd think. In the oldest version of the story, Arthur was raised by Uther, not Sir Ector. So yeah.

Only in some versions of the legend. I just know that in all the versions I've heard, Nimue was always Merlin's love interest.
